In Liam's office,
Alex walked in and plopped down in the chair in front of Liam's desk, "Hey, Liam, I think you need to increase the security here," Alex said in a serious tone. Liam raised an eyebrow.
"Why? Any particular reason?" Alex leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "Someone managed to sneak onto the rooftop without being stopped." Liam's eyes widened in surprise. "How is that possible? We have tons of security cameras on each floor of the hospital. I would have been alerted before the person even made it to the last floor." Alex shrugged, "I guess your security system needs an upgrade."
Liam's gaze narrowed. "Wait, how did you know? Were you smoking on my rooftop again?" Alex held up his hands in a defensive gesture. "No, I was just checking the premises." Liam chuckled. "Do you want me to have problems with the health agencies?" Alex laughed. "Same people you hired?" Liam playfully rolled his eyes. "It's not funny, Alex. Seriously, don't do it again." Then he added, "Why do I feel like I'm wasting my time telling you this?"
Alex leaned forward, his eyes fixed intently on Liam. "How's the research going?" Liam sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Still the same. We're making progress, but it's slow."
Alex's expression turned skeptical. "So slow. It makes me question if you're truly the best." Liam turned to Alex, a hint of defensiveness in his voice. "It takes time, besides if we were to succeed, it will be a miracle in medical history."
Liam glared at him and added, "I wonder why you're so hell-bent on healing the maid that caused the death of your parents, only to use her as your guinea pig. Just kill her and let her go; it's not like she planned it herself. She was merely following orders." Alex's expression didn't change, but his voice took on a cold tone.
"The same reason they wanted her dead so badly. Besides, I need the antidote to go against them," Alex replied. Liam raised an eyebrow. "You mean the organization that hired her?" Alex nodded. "Yes, the same ones who thought they could silence her permanently. But I have other plans."
Liam leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "It's been ten years, Alex. Don't you think it's time to let go?" Alex's gaze didn't waver. "I know," he responded, his voice low and even. "But if you're not able to get the antidote by this time next year, I will kill her" Alex stood up,
"I expect results, Liam. Don't disappoint me," Alex said, his voice dripping with menace. Liam nodded, his eyes locked on Alex's. "I'll do my best." Alex smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I know you will. After all, you have a reputation for being one of the best in the business."
As Alex turned to leave, Liam spoke up. "Alex, wait." Alex turned back, his eyebrow raised in inquiry. "Be careful, okay? You're playing with fire here. Those people won't hesitate to take you down if they find out what you're planning." Alex's smile grew wider. "Don't worry about me, Liam. I can take care of myself. Just focus on getting me that antidote"
"Well I'm running late "Alex checked his wrist watch and left.
