"You!"Ava exclaimed,the same face she had seen when she woke up from her coma. The man was still staring at her, his gaze piercing, as he took a drag on his cigarette.
"It's not nice to smoke in a hospital," Ava said, trying to sound authoritative in her nurse's uniform.
The man raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips. "Mind your business," he said, his voice low and even.
He pointed at the nurse's gown Ava was wearing, and she felt a flush rise to her cheeks. She realized she had been caught off guard, and her disguise wasn't as foolproof as she thought.
The man tossed the remaining cigarette aside and turned to leave. As he walked away, Ava breathed a sigh of relief. She watched him disappear into the stairs before pulling out her phone.
Ava dialed Jay's number, and as soon as he picked up, she said, "Hey, Jay."
"Hey, Candy, what's up?" Jay's voice was cheerful, and Ava couldn't help but smile.
"I'm fine, Jay," Ava replied
"Hope you're getting better now," Jay said, his tone concerned.
Ava hesitated for a moment before responding, "How did you know I was in the hospital? Well, anyway, it's not like I can hide anything from you."
Ava got straight to the point. "Jay, can you help me with something?"
"What is it?" Jay asked, his curiosity piqued.
"I need information about the unshady deals of Howells corp," Ava said, her voice low.
Jay's tone turned cautious. "Ava, I'm in charge of their cybersecurity. I don't think I can do that."
Ava pleaded with him, her voice persuasive. Jay sighed, "How can I say no to my Candy?"
Ava smiled, knowing she had him. "Just tell them something happened, and it got out of your control. You know, the usual."
Jay chuckled. "Fine, I know what to do."
"I need it in 24 hours," Ava said, her voice firm.
"I'll send it to you," Jay agreed. "You are using me to make money, aren't you? You better treat me to lunch once you're discharged."
Ava laughed. "Deal. Thanks, Jay. Bye."

As she ended the call, Ava knew she had wasted enough time. Aiden would likely be back with her ice cream soon. She quickly made her way back to her room, sneaking past the nurses and avoiding detection.
Ava slipped back into the hospital room, trying to look casual. But Aiden's eyes narrowed as he looked at her. "Sis, I've been looking for you," he said, his voice tinged with concern. "I put the ice cream in the fridge."
Ava smiled sheepishly. "Thanks, baby," she said, trying to downplay her brief disappearance. "I got lost while walking around. Sorry for worrying you."
