Chapter 17 - Depends on how you behave

He stood u when he saw Calhoun's towering figure_ he had the kind of presence that ordered fear. He couldn't catch his expression as his face was obscured from the light. The lock clicked open and the cell was opened. Kevin stood and moved out, silently trailing behind the officer and his brother_ he suddenly felt uneasy.

Inside the car, they sat side by side in the rear; Calhoun was facing the window. Kevin was suffocated. Although Calhoun hadn't said a word since, his aura alone was overwhelming.

'Brother Calhoun_'

'Hmmm.' he glanced at Kevin

'Are you mad?' He was nervous because Calhoun always told him to be careful.

'Why would I be? You re a man after all, have to go through some situations'

Kevin didn't get what Calhoun meant, does this mean that he was being let off_

'I expect this to be the last time you get arrested. It won't always be easy especially when you do something more serious. I'd rather you focus on you studies.' Calhoun wasn't someone of many words so that was already too much coming from him.

He looked back outside the window ending their conversation unceremoniously.

'Sure!' Kevin knew better than to refuse him.

The rest of the journey was quiet and un eventful. It was already dark when they arrived.

'I'll send you back tomorrow.' Calhoun said to Kevin.

'I really don't want to go just yet, can I stay here for a few days first?' Kevin pleaded_ He really wasn't ready to go back to his mom's place the woman was so controlling_ although she could be good at times.

Calhoun just entered without even looking at him. For someone who had known Calhoun for a while, he knew that his wish was granted.

...

Amyra was already untied but had little to rebel as there was only a small bed and covers in the room. Besides she could not fight at also she decided to be calm. She would just use her lady charms when the time comes. Boredom got the better of her and she soon fell asleep.

The following morning Calhoun went to see her; He had already been informed that she refused to have anything to eat or drink_ good enough though, he wasn't bothered. She was still dressed in the same dress with her hair disheveled.

'Amyra, talk to me.' He said, he didn't know why he had a rare patience in his voice that he never usually has.

'If it's about Kelly's whereabouts, then NO! However, we can talk about other things.' Amyra knew she had to tread carefully.

'I thought you are obedient. But no, so you leave me no choice.' Calhoun said in his lazy drawl especially when he's up to no good.

'What do you mean?' Amyra said anxiously.

'Your mother, who knows what will happen to her with you gone for so long_ you get what I mean.'

'What have you done to her?' Amyra turned savage; she held him by the collar as if she wanted to beat the fear of God into him, tears of helplessness pooling in her eyes. His men acted instinctively pointing the barrels of their guns towards Amyra, he signaled them to halt_ were they trying to imply that he couldn't handle a single woman?

'I haven't done anything yet! What happens to her depends on how you behave.' Calhoun said forcefully plucking her hands off his collar_ he found her dirty. He took out his phone and showed her a photo of himself and Amanda; she looked really happy.

'I wouldn't want to hurt such a kind woman; I'm not that heartless.

He started to move out but she held onto him by the hand.

'Are you ready to speak now?' He asked without even sparing her a single glance.

'Bu_' Amyra's words remained stuck in her throat when he moved out. Shit! She was in a dilemma. Can't her mom see that this man is evil? How could she just be nice to him? She wasn't sure whether she should rat out Treu to save their mom from the man's clutches or risk their mom's life for Treu's sake.
