Chapter 35 - The Haggard Vegapunk

Marineford, Navy Headquarters.

In a heavily guarded laboratory, Dr. Vegapunk stared at the Senzu Beans on the table.

At this moment, Dr. Vegapunk was disheveled, with bloodshot eyes.

Dr. Vegapunk assistant entered the room. Seeing the doctor back, the assistant's heart trembled slightly.

"Doctor, have you been up all night?" the assistant asked.

The assistant quickly picked up Dr. Vegapunk cup, only to find that the water he had poured for the doctor the previous night remained untouched. The assistant promptly fetched a fresh cup of hot water and handed it to Dr. Vegapunk.

"I couldn't sleep!" Dr. Vegapunk finally snapped out of his trance and spoke slowly.

"This Senzu Bean, I've been researching it for so long! But I still can't replicate it!" Dr. Vegapunk voice was hoarse.

Ever since Dr. Vegapunk obtained the Senzu Bean, he had been conducting meticulous research. He had even brought out countless advanced instruments from his specialized laboratory, yet he still couldn't figure out how to produce the Senzu Bean! Later, the Marine organization even spent a fortune to purchase the Senzu Bean from a supplier at the black market and handed it over to Dr. Vegapunk.

But no matter how much he researched, he couldn't fully replicate the Senzu Bean. Dr. Vegapunk thought of this and glanced at the sample cabinet nearby.

Three massive transparent glass cabinets stood there, each containing hundreds of samples that looked strikingly similar to the Senzu Bean but varied in appearance. However, without exception, all these samples were failures!

"Why? Why does something as common as a dog tail grass become a medicinal item?" Dr. Vegapunk wailed in agony.

Seeing Dr. Vegapunk descend into madness, the assistant quickly pulled out a specially designed sedative and injected it into the doctor. The assistant skilled needlework made it clear that this wasn't the first time Dr. Vegapunk had been in such a state.

After being injected with the sedative, Dr. Vegapunk slowly sat down and then closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

At that moment, the doorbell of the laboratory rang. The assistant frowned and walked over.

"Who's Outside? Dr. Vegapunk says not to disturb him under any circumstances!" the assistant opened the door and angrily addressed the guard outside.

"The doctor just fell asleep. What if you wake him up?" The assistant grew more and more furious.

"I'm sorry, but Fleet Admiral Sengoku is here!" The guard quickly apologized, bowing and scraping.

At that moment, Sengoku appeared at the door.

"I came to check on the doctor research progress," Sengoku said directly.

Seeing the highest-ranking Marine, Sengoku, arrive, the previously arrogant and angry Vegapunk assistant calmed down.

"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, the doctor just fell asleep," the assistant said softly, his tone calming down.

"How long has Dr. Vegapunk been awake this time?" Sengoku asked with a frown.

"This time, it's been almost three days," the assistant said with a pained expression.

From their conversation, it was clear that Dr. Vegapunk often went without sleep while researching the Senzu Bean.

"It seems I came at a bad time," Sengoku remarked.

"Please convey to Dr. Vegapunk that for the sake of the Navy and the World Government's future, he should take care of his health!"

Sengoku nodded and immediately turned to leave.

....

Half a month had passed, and Pryce had become quite proficient with the teleportation talismans.

Finally, using various parts acquired by Marco, Pryce established three automated production lines for teleportation talismans on an island under the protection of Whitebeard Newgate.

Naturally, Whitebeard fully supported this initiative! Moreover, under his explicit orders, these production lines were heavily guarded!

However, these lines could only produce basic-level teleportation talismans.

Additionally, due to the high cost of producing these talismans, the three lines combined could only produce fewer than a hundred basic-level talismans per day.

Despite this, Whitebeard was still overjoyed.

At least now, all his crew members could obtain teleportation talismans! And except for Ace, who was out chasing Teach, most of the division commanders had several intermediate-level teleportation talismans each!

Although one talisman could be reused, Pryce continued to produce intermediate-level talismans to speed up the system progress, justifying it as being prepared for any eventuality!

These actions, of course, were discovered by the ever-vigilant CP0 organization of the World Goverment.

.....

Marineford, Navy Headquarters.

"Fantastic, absolutely fantastic!"

Sengoku hung up the phone and exclaimed excitedly.

"What is it, Sengoku?"

"What good news has made you so happy?"

Garp, holding a teacup in one hand and a rice cracker in the other, mumbled indistinctly.

Ever since Pryce appeared, Garp had noticed that Sengoku hadn't smiled for a long time! Today smile was like a New Year's celebration! The CP0 organization had finally uncovered a big secret!

"We've finally find out what strange item that whitebeard used when he attack marineford, it was called 'Teleportation Talisman'!"

"To our astonishment, those terrifying items are in the hands of several Whitebeard division commanders!"

"Even the first-level combatants have at least one each!" Sengoku said happily.

"What's there to be happy about?"

"Sengoku, have you been too stressed lately?"

"Are you losing it?"

"The more of these teleportation items the pirates have, the more trouble we're in, right?"

Garp waved his hand, surprised.

"You..."

Sengoku was momentarily speechless.

"You idiot, Sengoku means that if we don't have them, we can just take them!" Vice Admiral Tsuru kicked Garp and explained.

That helped Sengoku recover.

He was almost driven mad by Garp!

"Exactly, Tsuru, we must seize these teleportation talismans!" Sengoku pounded the table and said seriously.

"I will personally draft the battle plan this time!"

"Garp, you're on this mission!"

"I'll assign ten vice admirals as your team members!" Sengoku tapped the table.

"Just them might not be enough!" Tsuru shook her head.

"Tsuru, what do you mean?" Sengoku looked at Tsuru.

"Considering they might flee directly, it's best to have Kizaru join the operation as well!"

"His speed is unmatched throughout the entire navy!" Tsuru said earnestly.

"Alright, let's do as you suggest!" Sengoku immediately nodded in agreement!
