Chapter 15 - Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly

The Wanxing Auction House was one of the largest in the city.

People often brought rare items they found outside the city to auction here if they had no use for them. Every year, many priceless treasures were sold here.

The scrap area, on the other hand, was filled with items collected by adventurers outside the city that seemed useless.

Most of these items were indeed junk, but occasionally, valuable items went unnoticed. The scrap area had an element of gambling to it.

Each item in the scrap area was priced uniformly at 500 Dawn Coins. If you saw something you liked, you could simply pay and take it away.

Bertram walked into the auction house. The valuable items were all in the main hall, where people of status usually went, ignoring the scrap area.

Bertram squeezed through the crowded main hall and entered the spacious scrap area, where various random items were piled up layer upon layer.

Finding the dead cocoon among these items was no easy task. However, since the cocoon was set to be sold today, it had to be placed in a relatively prominent spot.

Bertram's eyes quickly scanned the scrap area.

At that moment, a few scattered people were wandering around the scrap section.

Among them was a young man who looked quite wealthy. His elders were in the main hall, so he was bored and decided to try his luck in the scrap area.

He looked over the items in the scrap section, thinking they all looked like trash.

How could there be anything good here? Just then, he spotted a white cocoon among the pile of junk.

Oh well, he thought, I'll just buy this white cocoon and toss it aside later.

The young man walked over, took out 500 Dawn Coins, and was about to take the white cocoon when suddenly, a figure beside him hurriedly snatched the cocoon first.

"Boss, I'll take this cocoon!" The figure tossed 500 Dawn Coins and tucked the cocoon into his pocket.

The young man frowned at the sight.

Who was this guy?

Just as he was about to lash out, he noticed the other's worn-out clothes and immediately showed a look of disdain.

Competing with someone from the lower class was beneath him.

"It's just a useless cocoon. Only someone with no taste would see it as a treasure," the young man sneered.

The figure who had snatched the white cocoon was none other than Bertram.

Hearing the young man's mocking words, Bertram didn't get angry. Instead, he felt pity for him.

Buddy, you just missed out on an S-class interdimensional creature. It's probably best you never find out about this cruel twist of fate.

Bertram took the cocoon back to school and found an empty training room. He waited patiently for the cocoon to hatch.

According to the timeline from his life simulation, it should hatch by this evening.

The Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly would only bond with the first scent it encountered upon hatching.

To be safe, Bertram stayed in the training room all afternoon.

Spending this much time for an S-class interdimensional creature was definitely worth it.

As the sun was about to set, Bertram watched the cocoon in his hands.

Suddenly, a small crack appeared in the middle, and a brilliant blue light shone through.

In the next moment, two blue wings emerged, covered in fine, metallic-looking fuzz, sharp as blades.

Then came the round, adorable antennae and a pair of big, curious black eyes.

The entire Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly emerged, blinking its large eyes as it curiously looked at Bertram. It then fluttered to his neck, nuzzling him affectionately.

"So this is the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly?" Bertram exclaimed in delight, placing the butterfly in his hand for a closer look.

According to legend, the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly had two abilities: creating mesmerizing illusions and possessing wings that were the deadliest weapons, capable of slicing through anything.

Of course, these abilities would grow stronger as it matured. Right after hatching, it wouldn't be at its peak.

A newly hatched Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly was classified as F-class.

However, this creature grows very quickly. With sufficient nutrition, it can reach E-level in just half a month and C-level in three months.

Its highest potential is S-level.

Of course, even a creature with S-level potential won't easily reach S-level; it requires many opportunities.

But reaching A-level is definitely a breeze.

It's a treasure anyone would dream of!

Bertram looked at the butterfly before him with delight.

"I'll call you Dina from now on. You just hatched and don't know how dangerous the world can be, so the first lesson from your old man is to stay low-key!" Bertram chuckled, pulling out his waterproof, non-fading paint.

The Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly looked at Bertram with big, innocent eyes, as if asking, "What are you going to do to me?"

Bertram then covered the butterfly in gray paint, turning the once beautiful creature into something quite plain.

Now, in front of Bertram was a dull, gray butterfly.

The Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly looked at Bertram with a hint of sadness.

"It's okay. We need to stay low-key. This world is too dangerous. Until you grow stronger, you must stay under the radar. Temporary patience is for achieving great things in the future!" Bertram comforted his butterfly, not neglecting its emotional well-being.

After calming the butterfly, Bertram decided to test its combat abilities, starting with its illusion powers.

The Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly flew into the air, scattering blue, sparkling powder.

Suddenly, Bertram felt a shift, finding himself in a beautiful valley filled with birdsong and the sound of flowing water. The scent of flowers was as vivid as reality.

Bertram was horrified. This was terrifying.

Even though he was also an F-rank, he could barely sense anything unusual.

If someone fell into such an illusion, they would be at the mercy of others.

And this was just a gentle illusion.

The Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly had targeted Bertram specifically.

But with a name like Death Butterfly, how could it truly be gentle?

"Stop, stop!" Bertram shouted, and the surrounding illusion slowly dissipated.

At Bertram's command, the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly flew towards a nearby barbell.

In an instant, a gray light flashed, and the metal barbell was sliced cleanly in half, the cut remarkably smooth.

"What incredible cutting power!"

"To have such strength at F-rank, the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly truly lives up to its name as the butterfly that brings death wherever it goes!"
