Kelsey could almost feel the piercing gaze behind her as she turned away from him.
After a few dry heaves, she seemed to realize something.
This month... she was a few days late.
Once the thought planted itself in her mind, it grew like a vine, winding around her heart.
...What would her child with Rhett be like?
"Kelsey." A low, probing voice came from behind her.
Kelsey shuddered, snapping out of her reverie.
He wants a divorce from her, and Elise is pregnant with his child.
Even if she were pregnant, what would it matter? She even felt that this man would not hesitate to make her get an abortion...
She dared not turn her head, afraid of what she might see in his eyes.
Rhett seemed to have little patience, taking a step forward with an imposing presence. "What's wrong with you?"
Kelsey forced a bitter smile, turning her head to put on an indifferent expression. "Oh, maybe I caught a cold last night and my stomach doesn't feel well..."
As soon as she spoke, the atmosphere froze.
Her words were like a reminder, and both of them thought of last night.
They both knew how passionate Rhett had been last night.
But the next day, he asked for a divorce.
If they were going to get divorced, why bother...
The man's face darkened, his deep gaze scrutinizing her face. His jaw tightened, and the atmosphere became subtly tense.
After a moment, he raised his wrist and rubbed his forehead. "Sign as soon as possible. As compensation, I will cover Dexter's medical expenses."
Kelsey's eyes trembled, and she subconsciously wanted to say something.
But when she touched the man's unattainable and icy face, she finally just nodded obediently. "Okay."
Perhaps her appearance satisfied Rhett, and his cold expression softened a bit. "Good girl."
Kelsey's eyelashes trembled, her nails deeply embedded in her flesh, and the pain in her palms made her hold back the sourness in her nose. She choked out a word from her throat. "Okay..."
---
Hospital room.
Dexter looked at Kelsey's absent-minded appearance and hesitated to speak several times.
When it was time, Kelsey looked at her phone and stood up. "Dexter, I'm leaving now. I'll come back to see you tomorrow."
She had to go back and pack her things. Rhett gave her time to move out, but he didn't say how long.
And during that time... she had to confirm one thing.
Dexter nodded. "Be careful on the way, sis."
"Okay."
Watching her somewhat lost figure, Dexter pursed his lips, and a hint of darkness flashed in his eyes.
---
Pharmacy.
"Miss, what do you need?"
"No, I'll just look around myself..."
Kelsey picked out the pregnancy test she wanted from the dazzling array of shelves, grabbed her bag, and hurried out of the pharmacy.
After her, a man wearing a black baseball cap walked in.
After confirming what Kelsey had just bought, he took out his phone and respectfully said into it, "Mr. Clark... Miss Irwin just bought a pregnancy test..."
---
The VIP ward was quiet.
Seeing Rhett hang up the phone, Elise walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "Rhett, who was that woman just now?"
She had actually figured it out but didn't want to expose it, waiting for Rhett to explain himself.
During this time, she had thought a lot. Men like Rhett only got closer to women who took the initiative. If she played it cool, he would only become colder.
Compared to those insignificant reservations and pride, Elise clearly wanted Rhett as a person.
She had also heard that Rhett had married a woman just to spite her, but she had never really cared about it.
Rhett grabbed her wrist and pulled her slightly closer to him, making her sit next to him. "She's just a nobody," he said quietly.
Elise's eyes flickered, and she slightly curved her lips. "I'm satisfied with your answer, so I want to give you a reward," she said, leaning in as if she was going to kiss him.
Her red lips were tantalizingly close, but Rhett frowned and avoided her, rubbing her head. "You have something on your lips," he said.
Elise was momentarily stunned, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, but then she laughed. "It's just lipstick... Okay, I know you're a clean freak. I'll give you the reward after I take off my makeup next time."
Rhett made a sound of agreement, stood up, and picked up his suit jacket that was casually draped over the back of the sofa. "I have something to do. Rest well," he said.
Elise leaned back on the sofa, looking at him with a smile that was not quite a smile. "Where are you going?" she asked.
"I have something to do," Rhett replied.
"Something... Is there something you can't tell me?" the woman's tone was playful.
Rhett didn't answer and walked out the door.
---
As soon as Rhett closed the door, he turned around and met a pair of angry, bloodshot eyes outside the hospital room.
Dexter could hardly believe what he had just seen. He was breathing heavily, his neck veins bulging as he glared at him. "Who is that woman? How could you betray my sister like this?" He roared and suddenly clenched his fist and punched him.

Kelsey returned to the villa, and the empty living room made her heart sink. This place would soon no longer be her home. She quickly tidied up and took the pregnancy test to the bathroom, carefully reading the instructions, afraid of missing a single word.
The wait for the results was the most agonizing time of her life.
Before the test could even show one line or two, her phone suddenly rang with Rhett's exclusive ringtone, which sounded particularly abrupt in the enclosed space. She was startled and instinctively hid the pregnancy test.
