Chapter 6 - Yasser

Yasser, focus with me!"

Yasser opened his eyes and looked at his friend Hassan, who had dark skin, was born in Sudan, but came to Egypt when he was five years old. He lived in the same building as Yasser, and they became friends until now.

Hassan: "What's wrong?"

Yasser: "My mom wants me to find a girl and get married."

Hassan: "What's the problem? You're 27 now. It's time to think about building a family."

Yasser: "It's still early."

Hassan laughed: "You just want to have fun, that's all."

After a month, Yasser got promoted to CEO of the company. New employees were hired, and a party was held to introduce them.

Hassan and Yasser were standing together—they hated parties—but something caught Yasser's eye: a beautiful girl with black hair, white skin, and lovely features. Yasser stared at her so much that she noticed. He got embarrassed and looked at the ground.

Hassan laughed: "Are you in love with her or what? If you were Superman, she would've burned from your eyes!"

Yasser, very shy: "No, no, I just think she's beautiful. I can't take my eyes off her."

Hassan: "Go talk to her."

Since she arrived, Yasser kept looking at her from his office window. He checked her Facebook profile whenever he had time and looked at her pictures. She completely occupied his thoughts.

After work, Yasser followed her, and since he already knew her name, he said:

"Hi Rasha, honestly I like you and I want to propose to you," he said nervously, not knowing how to express himself.

Rasha, shyly: "So fast?" Then she laughed and said, "Okay, but we need to get to know each other more."

Over a long period of time, he introduced her to his whole life—his mother, his friend Hassan, everything. Yasser found in her the girl he truly wanted. They ended up getting married.

Soon after, Rasha became pregnant with their first child, and Yasser was overjoyed.

Hassan: "Congratulations, Yasser! Just a few months and you'll be a dad."

Yasser: "Yes, but I'm thinking about my son's future and how to make it better."

Hassan: "Why not sell your old apartment? I have a buyer, and I'll bring the papers."

Yasser: "Good idea. You handle it—I'll be busy with Rasha."

Hassan: "But it's money and paperwork. You need to be involved."

Yasser: "I'll give you legal power of attorney. You manage it. I want to focus on my wife now."

Hassan: "Okay. Send her my regards."

Rasha: "Our son is coming soon, my love."

Yasser: "I'm dying from happiness. If you need anything, just tell me."

...In the delivery room, everyone was waiting for the baby. Yasser, with white skin, had turned pale yellow from fear and worry. She was late. His mother tried to calm him: "Don't worry, she'll be fine."

Hassan stood beside him: "Don't worry, Yasser, new daddy!" and jokingly hit his head.

Then came the baby's cry—it was born! Everyone went into the room. Yasser was full of joy.

But his wide smile slowly disappeared... then completely vanished. Shock hit him hard. What he saw with his own eyes was a black-skinned baby.

He heard his mother say: "How can he be black when you and she are both white?"

He looked at his friend Hassan, who had dark skin. Yasser didn't understand.

Yasser: "Whose son is this, Hassan?"

Hassan: "How dare you doubt me?"

Yasser: "Tell me! Whose son is he?"

Rasha, weakly: "I'm sorry, Yasser. It was all planned by Hassan to trap you."

Yasser, confused: "Why? I don't understand."

Hassan: "Revenge for my father, Yasser. Your father once tricked him, took his apartment and money. I did the same to you. And you made it easier by giving me power of attorney. I took your money from the bank."

Yasser's mother was in shock, speechless.

Yasser couldn't talk: "But this doesn't make sense. What do I have to do with my father's mistake? Why didn't you just ask me for the money?"

Hassan: "My father died from heartbreak. He lost everything."

Yasser: "So… Rasha never loved me?"

Hassan: "Rasha and I worked together in this plan. And she will file for divorce soon."

Yasser ran out of the hospital, crying heavily, and walked into an alley.

The Owl: "And after that, you reached me. That's how we got here. What's your decision?"

Yasser, still crying: "I will travel… whether I live or die. I don't want to go back."

The Owl: "I was sure of that. Let's prepare the ritual for your journey."

They all went to the sea. There was a large boat with just the driver and Yasser.

The Owl: "I wish you safety."

Yasser got on, and the boat started to move. He remembered everything that happened.

Yasser: "No matter what, I can't go back. My heart refuses."

The boat suddenly stopped.

Yasser: "What's wrong?"

Driver: "Nothing."

Then he pulled out a gun and pointed it at Yasser.

For the first time, Yasser smiled and laughed sincerely.

Yasser: "It doesn't matter."

Then the bullet was fired straight at his head.

...The Owl received a phone call. When it ended, he said:

"Goodbye, Yasser."

Then he deleted his name from the computer.
