Chapter 4 - Love And Death

"Ela, get up, we need to continue working," Hades called out as he attempted to wake up a sleeping Ela.

As she mumbled "I will do it la,ter" and rolled over to sleep facing away from Hades, he smiled at her and then decided to let her sleep for a while. He went outside the house they built using divine energy, it was a wooden house, one you would find in a fairytale, with windows and flowers courtesy of Ela's demands. Hades looked at the house, which was the definition of peaceful and static, untouched by anything. Birds chirped as Hades went underground to a training area created for him.

'I don't know if it will work but I guess anything is possible in the world of mythology.' Hades thought as he concentrated to manifest a titan using his energy, it ran towards him but the movement Hades tried to dodge fell apart. "Sigh," Hades sighed as he tried again.

{An Hour Later}

Hades was done with his training, as Ela clapped behind him. Hades turned around, his sweat falling off instinctively. Ela's nose was assaulted with this smell as she said, "Go take a bath, I will prepare breakfast for you."

Hades just nodded as he went to take a bath while Ela hummed a tune that she learned courtesy to Hades as she cooked Roasted Lamb with Honey, Figs, and Herbs. It was a picture perfect family only missing a kid or two but still peaceful and calm, but this is not to last. When she was finished and put it on the table, they ate while talking to each other before Hades went back into training.

AN: I am not a romance writer so sorry if the romance was a little bit sloppy. Just get the feeling that they are in love alright.

{Timeskip- 1 year}

It was another usual day for the couple. Hades woke up first and was thinking of waking Ela up. He looked at her and saw her cute face, as he just lay there thinking, 'I haven't met a woman like you in my life. I didn't allow any girl in my life to have just as much influence as you did. How did you do it?'

Ela stirred as she smiled when she saw Hades and smiled. She got up and kissed him on the lip, and they got dressed. "Today we have to go outside, I want to meet with my friend.ds"

"Yeah, sure. I will just stay here" Hades replied as he didn't want to go outside of olympus.

"No, we. I want to introduce you to my friends, too, you know," Ela said, puffing her cheeks a little to show that she is mad. Hades just shook his head and said

"You know I can't. I can't leave the mountain until I am ready."

Ela looked at him, a hint of disappointment flickering in her blue eyes. "…Alright. Just don't overwork yourself."

Hades reached over and gently squeezed her hand. "I promise."

With a parting smile, Ela vanished in a shimmer of divine light, heading down the slopes of Olympus.

{Later – Olympus foothills, Garden of Ela}

Ela laughed with her friends beneath the sunlight, her presence lighting up the small grove where a handful of nymphs and lesser deities gathered. Their conversations were light, their joy unburdened by politics or war. That peace was ruptured by a shadow, a ripple of arrogance and heat. Hyperion descended from the sky like a falling star, golden and massive, his aura suffocating the breeze.

His eyes landed on Ela. "I have noticed you radiance nymph, be honored that you are chosen to serve the titan of light, Hyperion" he said with a grin that never reached his eyes. "It's time you stopped wasting your light here and came with me."

Ela's expression darkened. "I'm not going anywhere with you."

Hyperion's smile twitched. "So you have another in your heart. No matter, it is just one night." Hyperion stepped closer. "You were always meant for more. Do not waste yourself on a titan with no throne, no sky, and no legacy."

She raised her hand, divine energy forming in her palm. "Leave." Her friends closed ranks beside her, divine energy trembling around them.

Hyperion's voice turned cold. "You dare defy me?" In a flash of golden fury, the garden became a battlefield. Fire and light clashed with vines and stone. Screams echoed through the forest.

And far away, deep in the mountain, Hades' eyes snapped open. He felt it, a sudden flare in Ela's divine energy. "No." His voice came out as a growl. He launched upward, tearing through layers of stone, moving at a blur. Trees split in his wake, the mountain itself groaning as he broke the sound barrier again and again, traveling at impossible speeds.

He arrived. The smell of burning grass, shattered trees, and spilled ichor filled the air. Ela's friends lay still, some turned to ash, others frozen mid-scream. And there, in the middle of the wreckage, Hyperion stood tall, golden, unmarred. And beside him, Hades froze. Ela's body crumpled, her head a few feet away, her eyes still open, as if in mid-thought. His world cracked. Everything he had built, the peace, the dreams, the future–gone. He stepped forward, silent.

Hyperion turned, but his eyes widened in shock as he looked at Hades. Then he laughed as he said "How lucky I am? I came here for a nymph but I ended up finding my goal all along. You hid very well god, it was to a point even I found myself traveling for an entire year to find you."

"Speak again," Hades said, his voice low and shaking, "and I will end your line."

"Oh, you will try," Hyperion sneered.

He simply knelt beside Ela's body, picked up her head gently, and pulled her into his arms. Her form shimmered, already fading. Hades poured all the divine energy he could into her, but it was no use. Divine beings do not die easily, but when they do, they become part of the world, nearly impossible to revive. She transformed into light particles, as what was left of her was just Hades. he just sat there, his mind was not able to catch up to what had just happened.

"HAHAHAHAHA, She got what she deserved. Can you imagine leaving a titan general for a fugitive? I can't even think of anything more silly and stupid than that." Hyperion laughed while holding his stomach.

Hades' hair covered his eyes as he said in a cold voice, "I was foolish to believe that time was on my side. No longer am I going to show mercy."
