Chapter 2 - Chp. 2: The girl

After thinking a lot, I have concluded that I was banished from the pandemonium (the place of all demons) by that snake Selene. But the question now is, how do I get back? Normally, I'd just try to perform a ritual. But when I tried doing it alone several times with my blood it didn't work. It only works for one type of blood— Demon blood. But where could I get that? I'm no longer in the pandemonium. Where would I find demon blood? I need to think, and fast. Who knows what torture Selene is putting my loyal servants through?

After a lot of thinking back, I remembered how to perform a ritual without demon blood— Several God's blessings. But I'm a demon, a God won't bless me. So the plan is to recruit humans so the Gods can bless them and they'll help me get back.

And that's how I ended up sitting on the bench next to the gas station with a crumpled paper hand fan barely surviving this scorching hot morning weather while waiting for someone, anyone to pass by. Random, I know, but it was the only bench people would pass by.

At least that's what I thought. I've been sitting here for over and hour and the only thing I saw pass by was a tumbleweed. No sane person is going to walk outside in this humid weather!

After what felt like forever, a girl walks by with headphones on. She stops to look at me before clicking her tongue and going her own way. I follow her before catching up to her and grabbing her hand.

"Hey! How could you just ignore me, Demon lord Haruto? You just walk by without even talking to me!"

She sighs, yanks her hand away and continues to walk to a different bench near me. I could have given her the honor to be one of the humans being recruited in my group, but I choose not to have such a disrespectful human in my group.

The next day at the same place and same time the girl shows up again with an annoyed look on her face.

"You again? Do you live here or something? Or maybe you came back to look at my handsome face?"

She sighs then drops onto the bench beside me, as if accepting defeat.

"Heh, so you really did want to see my good-looking face!"

She sighs before putting on her headphones, folding her arms, crossing her legs and closing her eyes to fall asleep.

"You sure do sigh a lot."

She stays silent

"Hey, I'm talking to you! You should respond!"

She's still silent

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!

"Will you shut up!"

She says in an undelightful tone

"Heh, you finally said something."

I say with my naturally smug face

"Look, I'm trying to nap here. So would you please just cooperate with me and stay silent?"

She says

"Nah, I'd rather not. I came here first and you sat next to me, you could just move to another bench to nap but you chose not to. So why should I cooperate?"

"It's the best bench, obviously, but now it's occupied by someone who talks too much."

"Heh, so that means I'm the best, since I'm sitting on the best bench!"

"What?..."

She lets out a small chuckle

"Your logic sure is funny."

She quickly regains her composure before leaving.

"Hey! You won't even say a simple 'see you tomorrow'?"

She stops for a moment, her fingers twitching slightly as if debating something. Then, after just a little too much silence, she finally says,

"…Goodbye."

Before actually leaving

That human… really is something else. But next time she won't get away that easily! Wait, I forgot to recruit her!
