It was meant to be a quick kiss, after all James wasn't sure how Selena would react, but after feeling the softness of her red lips he couldn't help but press on.
His eyes were open so he could see her expression clearly. At first she struggled a little but after a while she closed her eyes and let him kiss her.
Seeing her beautiful face up close, the red blush that covered her cheeks, James felt a tinge of cruelty in his heart. He kissed her harder, holding her shoulders tightly, and for some reason he bit her lips.
She groaned in his arms but she still didn't say anything.
James stopped and leaned back. He looked at her pursed lips that looked bruised and the corners of her eyes that were red. He had a complex expression.
"Why didn't you stop me?"
Seeing that she didn't speak, he pressed on, his voice getting louder, "Do you feel guilty, is that why? So you also know what you did was wrong…"
After finally letting it out, James calmed down. Actually, he realised this was a good thing. Guilt was good. If she felt guilty then she would do more for him.
"I didn't do anything to you…you're just a commoner, how dare you act like this toward me?!" Selena finally came back to her senses and said harshly, while pushing James away.
Seeing her angry expression, James did feel a little fear. However, he soon relaxed after looking at the steady favorability that had now increased to [75] and the new achievement notification.
[Achievement: Selena's First Kiss]
[Reward: 500 affection points]
[Total affection points: 3000]
James knew this was a woman who said one thing but thought another, so he walked towards her again and said directly:
"Was that your first kiss?"
Selena blushed: "You?! I want you to leave now!"
She tried to push James' approaching figure away, but James knew she wasn't serious otherwise he would not be standing here in one piece.
He leaned forward again, his eyes taking a quick glance at the white expanse hidden beneath her dress. One day he would have to take a good look but not right now.
James kissed her again but this time he was much softer. After a while, he once again held her shoulders and tried to pry open her mouth. He encountered firm resistance.
Soon it divulged into a back and forth battle however at this juncture James started slowly lowering his hands.
First she didn't seem to notice but when his fingers began approaching her full chest, Selena trembled and her lips loosened. She held his arms tightly and stopped them from wandering but James didn't care. He focused on her lips again.
They breathed in each other like two drowning people
A minute later his hands couldn't help wandering again, just as James was about to finally feel the soft flesh of her chest he suddenly stopped.
There was a knock on the door.
The two of them quickly separated, both gasping for air. Selena's face was flushed and her hair was somewhat messy.
The knocking sounded again, so she quickly fixed her hair and said a quick enchantment to change her clothes to her usual conservative school robes.
James watched her movements and narrowed his eyes. So was she trying to seduce me from the start?
He shook his head with a smile and then sat back on the opposing chair. His face returned to the usual nervous expression he always sported.
After a few more moments, when it seemed like there was going to be a third knock, Selena finally spoke:
"Come in."
The door opened, and a tall man walked in. His light brown hair was slipped back and he wore aristocratic clothing, the noble aura was obvious both from his clothes and demeanour.
James glanced at him and then quickly put his head down. He recognised him.
This was the assistant professor for the second years who were studying alchemical magic. Damien Gray, from the Gray noble family. While this noble family wasn't particularly powerful in terms of strong mages they had a long history in the study of alchemical magic, so they still had some influence in the school.
When Damien walked into the room he paused slightly when he saw James, but looking at his clothes he quickly moved on.
Damien stepped forward confidently and said in a familiar tone.
"Professor Selena, good evening."
"What is it?" Selena didn't return his greeting and coldly asked.
James watched from the side, eyes narrowing.
Darien didn't answer immediately. He glanced again at James, then to the folders on her desk, and seemed to dismiss them both.
"The headmaster has called for a short meeting at dusk," Damien said, folding his arms. "All instructors are expected to attend. I offered to personally deliver the message, since I was on my way to check in."
Selena nodded once. "I'll attend."
Darien didn't leave. Instead, he stepped a little closer.
"You look tired," he said, lowering his voice slightly. "You're overworking yourself again, aren't you?"
James smiled to himself watching his concerned appearance. He knew that Selena was popular but he didn't expect to see it in person today.
Selena had a stern face as she pursed her lips and waved her hands, "Thank you for your concern but I'm fine. Well if there is nothing else..."
Damien acted like he didn't get the hint. He turned toward the large bookshelves seemingly engrossed in them.
"Actually you don't mind if I take a look right? My family has a big library but most of the books don't really interest me. To be honest, I've been so busy lately, you know recently with the border wars with the demons dying down I thought our family could finally get a break but business is still booming."
Damien turned to glance at Selena.
"Because I'm the heir I have to deal with all these things." He sighed as if helpless.
James almost couldn't help laughing. This guy was too obvious.
It seemed Selena's patience also seemed to be running out, she tapped her fingers on the table and was about to say something when James suddenly interrupted.
