"You?!" Selena's face turned even more red, but her expression was still cold.
What a stubborn woman…
At this moment James finally relaxed. Ever since this afternoon he has been on tenterhooks but now he was fully confident that the system was working.
He abandoned the nervous expression he always sported and said casually, "Your face is completely red and you still say you're not shy."
"Why are you like this?" There was confusion in her eyes.
"What's wrong with me?" James held her hand tightly and responded with a smile.
He knew that he was being too brazen right now, but there was an anger in heart that wanted to be vented. This woman has been out to get him ever since he came to this academy.
But soon he calmed down, she was still a level 6 mage, even if she was in love with him now, he couldn't lose control.

His favorability suddenly increased for some reason? He looked down at Selena who was staring at him fiercely. James understood something. So your face says one thing but your heart another?
But before he could explore that thought the system sounded out again.

James was confused. Didn't he already contract Selena, why was it only showing the reward now?
Or is it because before it was a system reward that increased favorability so it didn't count as much, and now when he increased it by himself there were more rewards?
James felt he had figured it out. It would also explain why he got so many affection points after increasing favorability by only 1 point.
"How long are you going to keep holding it?"
The voice shook James out of his thoughts.
He took away his hand calmly and sat back down on the desk. Now was not the time to worry about the system. He finally had a backer in the academy, the most important thing right now was to understand how he died and whether he was still in danger.
"Are you close to that girl from the Clearwater family?"
The sudden question made James look up. The blush had retreated from Selena's face and she sported the same icy expression. If he hadn't realised what kind of person she was just now, he might not have understood the intention of her question.
"You are jealous?" James leaned back in his chair. A flash of hatred couldn't help but pass across his face, "Do you have any right to be jealous?"
Selena's face didn't seem to have any change in reaction but he noticed that her fingers were trembling.
James shook his head, he didn't care about the thoughts of this woman. She was just a tool for him to gain more power, but the gigolo system needed him to rely on her so he couldn't push too far.
James changed the subject toward what he really wanted to know.
"After the first year training camp last week, was there something strange about me?"
Selena didn't understand why he asked his question, but she still thought deeply.
"I don't know…I wasn't really paying attention to you back then. "
James stopped himself from speaking too harshly and asked again in a calm voice:
"Can you remember if I looked particularly weak or if I had a lot of injuries?"
Selena had a weird face when she heard that question. She didn't have an answer but instead she looked at him quietly.
James understood the meaning of that look. It was obvious, he always had injuries.
He stood up and paced around the desk. He had no clues right now.
If anyone would want to harm a poor student like him with no background and no special skills he felt it had to be someone from the Everheart camp. But to commit murder against a student at Ainsworth, could Ryan Everheart really be so brave?
And he died in his dormitory, which is even more ridiculous. Ainsworth seemed like a normal school but it had a lot of secret protections. To be able to enter his dormitory and kill him silently, is it really worth it just for some small hatred? James felt there had to be another reason why he must be killed, a reason big enough to take such a large risk.
But he had no clues.
For the first time, since he had woken up this morning, James couldn't help but feel a sense of powerlessness.
James stopped pacing around and looked down at the beautiful face that was watching him. He matched it to the indifferent one in his memories and almost couldn't control his anger. But so what? What could he do right now?
She was much stronger than him. The only thing he had was the gigolo system, and the only way to influence her was through favorability.
Favorability? James recalled what happened before when he held her hands.
He glanced at her luscious red lips that were pursed in frown. He suddenly had the urge to kiss her.
This was the face that all the boys in his year fantasised about daily. Even though Selena was very strict, she was after all an extremely beautiful woman. He had even heard Ryan Everheart and his cronies talking about her and what they would like to do to her.
James walked towards her figure behind the large desk. She didn't know what he was planning so she just looked up at him with a confused face.
He leaned down slowly while watching her emerald eyes carefully. The light from the stained glass window covered the two of them in a soft glow. James could see her eyes shake and her red lips quiver. She was grabbing onto the armrest of her chair with both hands.
But she didn't stop him.
