Chapter 45 - CHAPTER 15 - First Mission.

CHAPTER 15 - First Mission.

(Pov - Daniela.)

The wind blows fiercely, stirring up dust and dry leaves. The landscape is desolate, as if life had fled from this place. The sky is covered with gray clouds, threatening to unleash a storm. The air is cold and damp, making me shiver.

I arrive at the village indicated by my new ability. It's a small, modest place with wooden and stone houses surrounded by fields. It seems calm and peaceful, but something feels off.

Hmm. It looks so empty and quiet… I expected to see monsters or something… There's no one. Not even signs of a struggle or destruction. Everything is intact and orderly, as if the inhabitants had just gone for a walk.

How strange. Did my new ability fail? That's the most likely explanation. I highly doubt Orcs would take such good care of this place. Maybe it got the direction wrong, or maybe the Orcs already left. Or maybe… Ugh, stop overthinking and act, Daniela.

But yeah, it's pretty unsettling. I'll go down to investigate first. Maybe there's a clue or a trap. I can't let my guard down; this world is too dangerous. I have to stay alert and ready for anything.

"This must be the village… I guess," I murmur as I descend toward the ground.

Ugh, I hope so. I don't want a faulty ability! Come on, Daniela, just trust yourself. No fear. We've already confirmed we can fly at incredible speed. If something goes wrong, we'll escape immediately. Take a deep breath and go kick those monsters' asses!

Yes, yes, Daniela, I know, we're awesome! Fufu. No one will stand a chance against us! Come at me, you filthy Orcs!

Ugh, maybe I shouldn't get too cocky… Nah! I'm the protagonist of this world; no one can defeat me! Hahahahaha!

Okay… I think I've calmed down enough. Body, stop trembling, and let's go! We've got an escape plan, so don't worry!

Right, right! Ahhhhhhhh! Here we go!

I land carefully in the center, where there's a dry fountain and a statue of an unknown hero. It's a man in shining armor, holding a sword aloft, staring at the horizon with determination. Could he be some ancient reincarnated person or someone sent by God like me? Awesome. One day, I'll have a statue too!

Anyway, back to work. Hmm. I don't see anyone in the village. No humans, no demons, nothing. No sounds either. Just the wind whistling through the houses and the creaking of branches. It's like time stopped here.

No destruction, no signs of a fight. Seriously, no one's tried to kill them? Or are the Orcs so strong that no one dares face them? Ugh, a-are they that powerful? No, don't chicken out, Daniela! You've got this!

I've got this!

But yeah, this atmosphere is so mysterious. I have to admit, I'm super excited and having fun like a kid at an amusement park, but I'm also scared! I don't know what's waiting for me here or what they'll do if they catch me. Maybe I should leave, but my curiosity is stronger.

Ugh, it's too late to back out now. I'm here, and I'm not leaving without finding out what's going on. I close my eyes and focus, trying to hear anything out of place, but it's so quiet. Just a few birds in the sky, and that's it. Not even dogs or cats in this place.

…How weird. Are the Orcs invisible, or do they only come out at night?

"Is anyone there? Hello!!" I shout loudly, hoping for a response.

Yes, yes, this is stupid, but no way am I going into the houses to investigate! I'd rather they come out first! I won't let them get the jump on me!

Ugh, who am I kidding? No one's dumb enough to come out and ruin their surprise attack… Huh? S-something's moving. Did this stupid plan actually work?!

Some noises make me turn my head. Heavy footsteps and beastly grunts approach from multiple directions… No, it's just an echo… Or so I hope. The sound is so strange.

I get into a fighting stance, ready to fight or flee.

"Oh no."

G-giant pigs in clothes emerge from the houses surrounding the fountain. They have green skin, sharp tusks, and red eyes. D-definitely Orcs, one of the most brutal and filthy demon races. I don't know them, but I assume that's what they are because they smell awful! They've barely appeared, and they've already filled the place with their disgusting stench! Yuck! How did they hide that smell?! Gross, my eyes are burning!

They smell horrible. Like sweat, blood, and other things I don't want to imagine. Do they bathe in human blood and excrement?! Or do they never bathe?! Or do they eat each other?! No, I don't want to know!

"I-I think those are the Orcs… Yuck, they're so ugly," I say, with disgust and fear.

"Boys, we've got another girl!"

"She's so cute!"

T-they can even talk!

The Orcs look at me with surprise, but their expressions quickly turn to lust. They scan me up and down like I'm a piece of meat. I realize they're looking at me with perverse eyes… Shit, I think they're going to try something. Gross, they're drooling.

Sorry, I only like women… And only human women.

"Shit… Muslar asio!" I shout, activating one of my spells.

I feel my strength increase… Wow… I feel amazing! Like I can do anything. I feel magic flowing through my veins, giving me power and confidence.

"Fufu. This feels incredible," I say with a smile.

The Orcs approach me with lecherous looks and malicious grins. There are eight of them, huge and muscular. Their bodies are covered in scars, tattoos, and piercings. They come without weapons, confident in their brute strength and numbers.

Fufu. Do they think I'm a damsel who needs saving? An easy prey for their base instincts? They're so wrong. I'm not a damsel in distress but a ruthless killer. If I have to kill, I won't hesitate. It's my way of surviving in this cruel, savage world. I've escaped a maximum-security prison, stolen a dragon's treasure, tricked a king, and seduced a princess. Nothing stops me, nothing scares me, nothing intimidates me… Well, I haven't actually done any of that, but they're things I plan to do in the future.

"I think I have to kill them… I guess I have to," I say to myself, gathering courage.

My voice is sweet and soft, but my mind is cold and calculating. I know I have to do it, but I need to prepare mentally. Ahhhhhhhh! It's my first time killing, don't judge me!

"Sword Dix!" I say softly, summoning my magical weapon in the coolest way I could think of.

The wind sword appears in my right hand, like an extension of my will. Oh, that sounded so elegant. Fufu.

"Come at me, bitches!" I yell at the Orcs, challenging them.

I want to provoke them, enrage them, have fun. The Orcs charge at me, roaring with fury and excitement. They don't seem to fear my sword, maybe because they can't see it, or maybe because they're too stupid to understand its danger. They're underestimating me too much… Perfect. This'll be more fun.

"I can't wait to have kids with you!" one of them says, drooling.

His voice is hoarse and guttural, and his breath reeks of rotten meat. Shit, they're going to try to rape me! Gross! I'd rather die. I won't let them touch a single hair on my head. I won't let them take the only thing I have left: my dignity. I'm a proud, independent, strong woman. I don't need any man, let alone an Orc… That sounded bad; I thought it'd sound cooler. I need to work on my epic lines.

"Huh?!" I yell, pretending to be surprised and scared.

I quickly back away from them, running toward the forest. I want them to follow me, to think they have a chance. I want them to fall into my trap. I have a plan. A plan that'll make them regret messing with me. A plan that'll show them who I am. I'm the best assassin in the world. I'm the Queen of magic. I'm the Goddess of death. Oh, yeah, that sounded way better! Hahahahaha!

"Let's get her!" another one says, rallying his companions.

The Orcs close in on me, hot on my heels. They're fast, but I'm faster. I have superhuman agility, thanks to the spell I cast on myself. Magic is amazing! It lets me do things no one else can. It lets me be whoever I want to be. It lets me be free… Okay, I'll save the epic lines for later; they're speeding up!

Fufu. But I can increase my speed effortlessly too. Be jealous, peasants, I'm so powerful…! Too powerful…

Ugh, the final boss is probably some cosmic threat. B-better not think about that now!

Fufu. I focus on the present moment, on the game I'm playing, on the fun I'm having. I feel alive, happy, powerful. I feel like myself and… Uwaaaah! I got too distracted; they almost caught me! Time to act!

"Gross! Stay away from me!"

One of them gets too close. He's the biggest and ugliest, with a scar on his face and a ring in his nose.

"Get lost!" I yell, and without warning, I slash him with my sword.

I-I cut his legs off, just below the knees. Blood sprays through the air, and the Orc falls to the ground. He screams with a gut-wrenching cry of pain, writhing like a worm. Fufu. It worked. My sword is super sharp, and the Orcs didn't expect it. Hahahahaha! Regretting underestimating me now, huh?

"Ahhhhhhhhh!!" the mutilated Orc screams, clutching his stumps. His eyes are filled with terror and disbelief. He can't believe what just happened. He underestimated his enemy, and now he's paying the price.

Maybe your skin is as tough as a diamond, but you're facing the world's protagonist, idiot! Hahahahaha!

"Amazing, this sword is so sharp!" I say, admiring my weapon.

It's light and comfortable, fitting perfectly in my grip. It's perfect!

It felt like cutting butter with a knife. Hahahahaha!!

"Attack!" another Orc says, the one who seems to be the leader. He's the smallest and thinnest but also, I think, the smartest and cruelest.

He glares at me with hatred and determination. His eyes say he won't give up easily.

All the Orcs try to attack me. Seven against one, but I'm not afraid. I have a super powerful sword that can cut through anything easily, and I can fly. Fufu. I'm going to surprise them.

"Shit!" I say, dodging their attacks.

The Orcs are strong and fast, but I'm more agile and smarter. I have superhuman agility, thanks to the spell I cast on myself. I'll take full advantage of it.

I dodge a punch and lunge at them. Don't hesitate, just do it!

"Die!!"

I slice two Orcs in half with a single swing of my sword. Blood sprays through the air again, and the Orcs fall to the ground. They scream with gut-wrenching cries of pain and then go still. They're not breathing anymore. They're not bothering me anymore. Fufu. This is fun.

Yes, yes, that sounds super cruel, but I don't care! Hahahahaha…! Huh? W-what?

O-one of them grabbed me from behind, and he won't let go! It's the fattest and sweatiest one. Gross, he's getting me dirty with his smell and sweat! I'll have to bathe in acid!

"You're so cute!" he says… licking my face.

His rough, disgusting tongue on my face… So grossssssssss!!!

"You're beyond dead, you son of a bitch!! Arches Nexus!"

I fly away from the ground as fast as I can, taking this bastard with me. So you like licking people without their consent, huh? Get ready to pay the consequences!

Do Orcs fly? Fufu. Judging by his terrified expression, I doubt it!

"Huh?! You can fly?!"

No mercy for you, monster!

Hmm… I think this height is enough.

Hope you rot in hell.

"I'll fall!"

Duh, that's the point, moron.

"Tell Niter that Daniela says hi."

I cut his arms off with my sword; I'm not waiting for him to get tired of hugging me.

He starts falling. I highly doubt he'll survive, but just in case, I'll be ready to deliver the final blow.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!!"

He hits the ground and… Ugh… His head exploded on impact. A spray of blood and brains splattered the dirt. …So gross… It was disgusting but also satisfying. That's what you get for daring to lick my face!

"You deserved it, pervert! You're not worthy of licking me, not even my shoes!" I yell with fury and contempt, wiping my face with my uniform.

Ah, what a beautiful view from up here. What a gorgeous world. It's a shame it's so dangerous. To think this morning I was writing an essay at school, and now I'm in another world, fighting off rapist Orcs. Life and its mysteries. Whatever. With my sword, I'll have no rival! It can cut through Orcs like they're made of butter. Such an unfair power! I love it!

Cough, cough. Yes, yes, I know, Daniela, there are still a few of them left!

I land, and the four remaining Orcs flee from me. Fufu. Finally realized how superior I am to you, filthy beasts? Sorry, but it's too late. I don't plan on letting you live! That'd be a pretty annoying stain on my new adventurer record.

Hmm… I wonder if… Hehe.

"Cowards!" I yell, mocking their cowardice.

If I combine my sword with my psychic powers, I get this result!

I throw my sword at one of them, controlling it with my psychic powers, and pierce his chest, right through the heart. It worked!! YAY!

The Orc falls to the ground with a groan of pain. I guess he's dead. One less!

Oh, yes, oh, yes. I'm awesome, I'm awesome. I'd dance, but I'll do that later. Can't let my guard down, or they'll escape!

"Sword Dix!" I yell, summoning my magical sword's name.

The sword reappears in my right hand, and I throw it at another Orc. It pierces his head, and he falls to the ground with a thud.

Hahahahaha! Seriously, no one else could beat them? I at least expect a parade in my honor after this mission, easier than my cousin who has four kids at 22.

"Sword Dix!"

Hmm. The two remaining Orcs run back to the village and hide in a house.

Ugh, this was easy. I expected more from you. Give me back all the fear I felt because of you!

"Idiots."

I walk toward the house, and as I pass by one of the corpses, I sigh.

I know killing is wrong and all that, but I feel pretty happy.

"I'm a killer, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing," I think, justifying my actions.

They tried to hurt me first, and I'm pretty sure they've hurt hundreds of people. They're beyond redemption—or rather, they don't deserve it.

I enter the house without fear, confident I can dodge any surprise attack with my spell.

Wow. The Orcs kneel before me… They're begging for their lives… They're terrified. They look pathetic.

"Sorry!"

"Let us live!"

They plead, tears in their eyes.

"Wow, I love seeing you humiliate yourselves," I say, smiling maliciously.

I drop the sword, and their eyes light up with hope. Oh, did you think I'd spare your lives? Oh, you disgusting little darlings. You're beyond saving. You pissed off the future savior of this world, and that's only paid for with death.

"I'll give you a proper punishment," I say, my voice sweet but sinister.

I extend my hands and lift the two Orcs with my psychic powers.

I did it, I can lift them!

"Awesome, I can lift them so easily!" I yell, surprised and excited by my ability.

R-really, it's improved a lot. Thank you, God!

"Let us go!"

"Please!"

They scream, terrified.

"Nah, I don't want to."

I leave the house with the two Orcs. Ugh, almost done. What'll I have for dinner? Anything but pork; I'm sick of it.

"Arches Nexus!"

I fly as high as I can.

Awesome, I can carry them with no problem… Fufu.

"No, please!" they beg, desperate.

Ugh, I expected more from the leader, but he was just a disappointment. So boring. At least they gave me a chance to test my magic and skills! That was the only fun part.

After getting far enough from the ground, I let them go, and they fall.

"This ring is amazing! Though my head hurts a little," I say, feeling a slight discomfort.

I guess using it too much has side effects. I need to research more about it, to know how long I can use it and stuff like that. The more I know about my abilities and limits, the safer I'll be.

I descend and check the bodies… Gross.

"They're dead," I confirm, looking at their mangled corpses.

Intestines all over the ground, blood, organs. Yuck. Makes me want to go vegetarian.

Huh? I hear doors opening. Were there more Orcs…? No, they're not Orcs. Oh no…

Several women come out of the houses.

"Are they dead?" one of them asks, hope in her eyes, her hand on her chest.

"We're saved!!" another shouts, relieved.

"Thank you!!" another says, tears in her eyes.

The women are nearly naked, only dried blood covering their bodies. They must've suffered so much… Shit… They were… raped… I feel awful for them.

"Were you… raped?" I ask, my voice trembling.

"Yes… The Orcs killed all the men and raped us," one of them replies, her voice barely a whisper. Another just nods, unable to speak.

…Ugh… Do I have to get used to this? I hope not. This world is savage and dangerous.

If I let things like this get to me mentally, I'm done for. Sorry, but if I worry about inevitable things like this, I'll become weaker. I need a strong mind to keep going.

Sadly, this world is savage, and things like this happen every day. There's nothing I can do to prevent it. All I can do is move forward with my life and not dwell on it too much.

"Were they the only ones? No more Orcs?"

"Just them, no more Orcs," the woman who spoke earlier confirms.

…I can't stand looking at this anymore… I think I'll cry if I stay here… I'd better leave. I can't do anything for them; I just hope someone helps them. My mission was only to defeat the Orcs; I won't do more than that. The adventurers' guild will surely handle this.

"Sorry… I have to go. Arches Nexus!"

I fly away from the scene, leaving the horror behind.

"Poor women… This world is so savage… It's interesting, but savage," I think as I fly toward the guild.

Ugh, but anyway… My first mission was a success. How much will they pay me? I hope it's enough to survive for a few weeks.

(At the guild.)

I head to the clerk who gave me the mission.

"I did it. Where's my reward?"

She stands up from the desk, shocked.

"Y-you did it?!"

"Yeah, that's what I said."

"P-please, show me your card."

My card? I guess she needs it for some magical registration thing or something.

I take out my card and hand it to her.

When she sees it, she grabs my hands and looks into my eyes, super excited. Oh, she's cute. Too bad she has a boyfriend. Hmm… Can I win her heart with more achievements? Maybe people in this world are attracted to power.

"Congratulations, you really defeated the Orcs!" she says with a big smile.

How does the card work exactly?

"You know just by looking at my card? How?"

"When you accept a mission, it appears on your card, and it disappears when you complete it, die, or we remove it."

Oh, wow, wow. Great way to stop adventurers from trying to scam the guild with fake info.

"I see… That's interesting."

(Present.)

"Wait… It appears automatically?" Daniel, the guy I'm sharing my story with, interrupts.

By the way, this guy is so handsome. Isn't he ridiculously handsome? Fufu. As expected of my doppelgänger.

I even think I might start liking him, despite me being a girl who's only into women. Or is it because he's my male counterpart? Would that count as multiversal incest or something? Or like masturbation?

Ahhhhhhhh! Stop thinking stupid things and answer, Daniela!

"Yeah. Don't the guilds in continent 2 do the same?"

"No, the guild clerks write a number on the card, which also disappears when you complete a mission."

Hmm. Well, it's almost the same.

"I see… Anyway, let me continue. After that…"

(Back then.)

"Wait, I'll get your reward," the clerk says, heading to the back of the guild.

…Ugh. Poor women… This world seems interesting, but it's so dangerous.

I sigh. How many times have I said that? Whatever, it's the truth.

I hope I don't have to see more rape scenes. I don't know if I can handle it. I know I need to become strong, both in power and mentally, but that doesn't mean I want to keep seeing those things; I'd rather avoid it.

The clerk returns with a bag of coins.

Oh, yes! Come to mama! My first paycheck!

"Here, the reward is 10,000 gold coins. The registration fee has already been deducted."

(Present.)

"W-wait! That much money for killing those Orcs?!" Daniel interrupts again, his eyes wide open.

"Actually, it wasn't that much… I think gold has different values on each continent… They're called gold, but they're different coins, and each coin has a different value. There's the original gold coin, half-gold, Cherl, etc. They gave me money worth 10,000 gold coins… Though it's still a lot… Later I found out those Orcs had demonic blood and demon-level power… I think they were demons… That's why they paid me so much. Those Orcs were impossible for adventurers to defeat."

"And they were defeated by falling from that height? That sounds…"

"Yeah, I know, it sounds stupid, but it's true. Maybe they weren't as tough as they seemed."

"Oh, I get it. Wow, wow. I see… Go on, please."

(Back then.)

Gold in my world is super valuable… With this, I could buy a mansion…! But I guess it's not worth as much here.

"Thanks!"

"By the way, my name's Zeis."

Fufu. Making the first move, huh? Little by little, I'll win your love. Wink, wink… Oh, I remember why I hid this personality. It's cringe. Good thing I only thought it.

"I'm Daniela… Do you know where I can sleep? Is there a hotel around here?" I ask, looking for a place to spend the night.

No way I'm sleeping on the street, especially not in a world with rapist Orcs.

"Hotel? I don't know what a hotel is, but there's an inn where you can sleep. It's across the street, and it's cheap."

No hotels? Ugh, it really is medieval.

Well, an inn will do… What's an inn? I guess it's like a hotel.

I take the bag of coins.

"Thank you," I say, leaving the guild.

Outside, I see the inn. It's a big building, but it looks a bit dirty.

"It looks a little… dirty," I murmur, frowning.

Don't complain, Daniela. We're in a medieval world; don't expect too much.

I enter and see a girl. She's tall, with long white hair, wearing a black dress… Such pretty hair.

"Hi, excuse me, do you have any rooms available?" I ask, approaching the counter.

"Yes, of course. How long will you be staying?" she asks in a sweet voice.

Will she give me a discount if I flirt with her? I'd rather not risk ending up without a roof, so I won't try.

"I don't know… I really don't know, maybe 3 or 4 years," I reply, unsure of my future.

"3 or 4 years?!" she repeats, incredulous.

"Yeah," I say, nodding.

"…O-okay."

She accepts after a few seconds of silence.

Oh, that was easy.

"How much would it be?" I ask, hoping it's not too expensive.

It's obviously going to be expensive, but I hope it's within my budget.

"Wait… It'd be 3,600 gold coins for 3 years."

She calculates using a magical calculator.

…I don't know the value of money yet, but I can afford it.

Hmm. 365 times 3, assuming years have the same number of days as in my world…

[1,095]

Huh? What?! The answer appeared in front of me?! And the woman didn't react. Can only I see it? Another new ability?! Awesome!

Now divide 1,095 by 3,600.

[0.3041666667]

Oh, no, I think it's the other way around.

[3.2876712329]

"Miss?"

"Sorry, I was calculating in my head. Is the room 3 gold coins a day?"

"5, but you get a discount for staying so long."

"Oh, what a great deal. Alright," I say, opening the bag of coins.

…Ugh, no paper money?

5 gold coins… So complicated. How much would a gold coin be worth?

Hmm… Some coins are different. They probably have different values.

"Miss, can you help me count?"

"Of course."

"Thanks."

I need to learn the value of this world's money so I don't get scammed.

20 minutes later.

I'm done paying… Why isn't there paper money?! Counting all those coins was so tedious.

At least I learned there are 5 different coins, and the most valuable is the gold coin. According to my calculations, it's worth about… Hmm… 6 dollars, which would make a room cost 30 dollars a day.

Not too expensive, not too cheap. The price is fine.

"Thank you so much!" the girl says, handing me some keys.

Finally, I can say I have a place to rest. Goodbye, worries.

"Your room is number 13."

Ugh, unlucky number. Oh well.

"Thanks," I say, taking the keys.

"The rooms are to your right," she says, pointing to a hallway.

"Thanks."

I head to the rooms.

I count them because they have a symbol on the door I don't understand.

"Those symbols must be numbers…" I think, trying to memorize them.

I keep walking while counting.

"…10, 11, 12, and 13. This must be room 13."

I insert the key, and the door opens on its own. Is it occupied? I don't see anyone. Oh, I get it, an automatic door. How fancy.

"Well, it is… It's a cheap place, I hope the room's decent," I say, entering my room.

Hmm… Well, at least it matches the price-quality ratio.

"Not bad at all," I say, seeing that the room is spacious and clean.

There's a bed, a wardrobe, and a desk. There's also a window facing the street, and thankfully, there are curtains.

I close them. Ah, peace.

"I think I'll like living here," I think, smiling.

I lie down on the bed.

"It's comfy… Hmm… Are there bathrooms?"

B-bathrooms… Oh no…

I remember this world is medieval. Noooooo! Please, let them at least use magic or something! P-please, don't let it be what I'm thinking.

I leave the room and head to the innkeeper or clerk, I don't know.

"Excuse me, do you have bathrooms?"

"Of course, dear. To your left, the first door is the women's bathroom."

"Thanks."

I thank her and head to the bathroom.

Ugh… Please, let it be clean, let it be clean.

I enter the bathroom and examine it curiously. It's simple too. There's a pool of hot water in the center, surrounded by blue tiles. Around it are several wooden benches and racks with towels. In one corner, there's a mirror and a sink. In the other, there's a closed door.

"Well…"

I sigh.

I guess this is how they bathe in this world. No showers or bathtubs. Just a communal pool. I wonder how they clean their hair and body. Maybe they use some kind of magical soap.

Well, personally, I don't mind being seen naked, as long as it's only by women, and I don't mind the idea of seeing naked women all the time. Fufu. It's not so bad after all.

"There's a door next to the pool."

I wonder what's there.

I approach the door and open it carefully. What I see makes me recoil in disgust. I knew it! Yuck!

There's a hole in the ground, and it smells awful. I cover my nose with my hand and quickly close the door. It really stinks.

No way I'm looking inside; I already know what I'd see, and I'd rather avoid it.

"S-so this is where they do their business… Yeah, they're savages."

Ugh, it'll be hard to live here. I miss my world, with its conveniences and technology, but oh well, God gave me a mission, and I have to fulfill it.

I leave the bathroom and uncover my nose. I take a deep breath and try to calm down. I have to get used to this world. I have no other choice.

"Well, I'll figure out how to solve the bathroom problem later."

It'll be my second priority! The first is dressing fashionably.

I leave the inn and head to the market. I'm going shopping for clothes. I can't wear my uniform all day, especially since it's stained with Orc blood. Yuck.

Let's go shopping!

One shopping day later.

I return to the inn with a box full of clothes. I've bought several pieces in different colors and styles. There are skirts, pants, blouses, dresses, jackets, and shoes. I also got some accessories, like hats, gloves, and scarves. For a weird world, the clothes are really cute.

I was going to buy armor, but I didn't like it. I prefer attacking from a distance with my sword and mental powers.

"For a weird world, the clothes are really cute," I repeat, satisfied.

I enter my room and store the clothes in the wardrobe. I organize everything by color and type. I like keeping things tidy.

I take off my uniform and put on flannel pajamas. They're pink with cat patterns. So soft and warm.

Waaa… So sleepy.

"Alright, time to sleep."

I lie down in bed and cover myself with the blanket. The mattress is soft, and the pillows are fluffy. It's comfy.

I close my eyes and try to sleep. I'm exhausted after such a long day. Tomorrow's another day. Maybe I'll find something interesting to do. Or maybe not. But I'll definitely look into a way to avoid using a hole for a bathroom.

"It's comfy…"

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock!

Tch.

Someone's pounding on my door and wakes me up. Shit. I have to open it. I hope it's important!

I get out of bed, walk to the door, and ask in a sleepy voice.

"Who the hell is it?!"

"It's your neighbor!" a cheerful female voice replies.

"Ugh, I have to socialize," I whisper.

I open the door and see a girl. She has short black hair and is wearing gray armor. Her eyes are green, and she has a wide smile. She has a sword at her waist and a backpack on her back. She's an adventurer; I can tell by her armor.

"What do you want?"

"I just wanted to meet you!" she says enthusiastically.

Tch. I thought it was something more important.

"Fine, you've met me, bye."

I try to close the door, but it stays at just an attempt.
