Jake's face was flushed with frustration as he paced back and forth, his hands clenched into fists. His temper had already been on edge, but Sharon's sudden interference had sent him over the limit. He turned sharply to face her, his eyes blazing with anger.
"Do not even try to give me that face," she said, crossing her arms defensively.
Jake exhaled sharply, trying to control his temper, but his voice still came out laced with irritation. "Why do you always have to come in between? I told you the plan, Sharon. I laid everything out clearly. You knew exactly what you were supposed to do."
Sharon frowned, her gaze dropping for a moment before she looked back at him. "Yes, I know the plan," she admitted, "but I couldn't help it. I got jealous. The way she was acting with you, the way she was talking to you—it was driving me insane."
