Sharon awoke to an empty bed. Her first thought was to check for Jake, as it was unlike him to be up before her. She pushed herself up from the warmth of the sheets, stretching out her limbs as she stood. The soft light of morning filtered through the window, casting a peaceful glow in the room. Sharon was still groggy, but a sense of curiosity tugged at her. Where could he be?
She made her way down the hallway, her feet padding softly on the wooden floor. When she reached the kitchen, she was taken aback. There, standing in front of the stove, was Jake—already dressed for work, his shirt neatly pressed and his tie perfectly knotted. He looked up at her as she entered, a soft smile crossing his face.
"Good morning, baby," Sharon said with a smile of her own, walking over to him and placing a gentle kiss on his lips. She was still processing the fact that Jake was not only awake before her, but also up and about, already preparing breakfast.
