Two weeks had passed in the Citadel since their revelation. Despite constant searching, they hadn't found anything new of note, but Ruvan was dutiful in his study of sign language and helped Solenne improve her handwriting while doing so.
Solenne was thrilled because he could hold fundamental conversations with her now, and her writing had improved drastically since that first time he had her scrawl something for him.
But as they spent more time together, since the moment she had pressed her lips to his with such passion that night… something was changing.
It started subtly.
First, there was a strange buzzing under her skin, followed by a warmth that lingered even on the chilliest night. Her thoughts had become hazy and distracted, making connecting and holding coherent thoughts difficult.
