~Bella's POV
I sat on the thin mattress of my small bed, staring at the ceiling as my stomach growled again. I hugged my knees, pressing them to my chest in an attempt to ignore the hunger that had been gnawing at me since morning.
It was useless.
The dull ache in my stomach wouldn't let me forget that I hadn't eaten all day.
I sighed, rubbing my arms. The room was cold, but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the silence. The kind that made my thoughts louder, making me relive every single mistake I had made.
I should have asked for his number.
I should have done something.
But I hadn't. I had been too caught up in the moment, too stupid to think ahead. And now, here I was—alone, hungry, and completely helpless.
I glanced at the small clock on the wall. It was already past six in the evening, and still, Alex hadn't come.
Had he forgotten about me?
Or worse… had I been nothing more than a passing distraction to him?
