The warehouse was dimly lit, the scent of blood and sweat thick in the air. Marco groaned, his head lolling forward, blood dripping from his nose onto the concrete floor. My men stood in a semi-circle, their faces emotionless, waiting for Alex to arrive.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Alex's number. He picked up after the first ring.
"We have him," I said, keeping my voice steady. "He's in the safe house."
"Good," Alex's voice was cold, calculated. "I'll be there in the next few hours. Keep him alive."
I hung up and glanced at Marco. He was barely conscious, his wrists tied behind the chair, his legs bound tightly. I crouched in front of him, tilting his chin up so he could look at me.
"You should have stayed out of this, Marco. Now look at you."
He chuckled weakly, spitting blood to the side. "You think Alex scares me? I've faced worse."
I smirked and patted his cheek before standing up. "You won't be saying that when he gets here."
