Chapter 61 - The Road to Hell, Running Forward

Wrapped in that blood-red light, Yu Tianming suddenly felt the ground vanish beneath his feet, and everything around him turned illusory.

Some of his senses were completely sealed at that moment. The inability to control the pain coursing through his body gave rise to a strange, indescribable fear.

But what Yu Tianming couldn't see was that his killing intent had condensed into a faint white ripple that protected him. Without this killing intent, the moment the blood-red light spread, he would have been utterly consumed.

Unlike the original protagonist, he didn't have the Blue Silver Domain, so he couldn't block out the cold, evil, and deathly aura within the blood light during the transmission process.

He had no idea how long he endured the pressure of the blood light. After a violent jolt, all his senses finally returned.

At that moment, he found himself shrouded in a faint layer of blood mist. His eyes had turned completely blood-red. Around his body, the white ripples surged and intensified, and to suppress his rampaging killing intent, his body trembled uncontrollably.

Several hours later, Yu Tianming finally calmed down. He activated his electromagnetic perception at full power to probe his surroundings.

Upon careful observation, he couldn't help but suck in a sharp breath. The scene before him was even more sinister than he had imagined.

He was standing on a circular platform.

The platform was only about five meters in diameter and hovered above a bottomless abyss. Thousands of meters below, everything was bathed in darkness—but beneath that, it was all blood. Or rather, a blood pool.

That blood pool was most likely made up of the human blood accumulated by the Slaughter City over countless years—what they called Bloody Mary, the sacrificial offering to the Hell Road.

It seemed this Hell Road was not just the path out of Slaughter City—it was also the very core of the city itself.

Perhaps it was the source of the strange domain that enveloped Slaughter City.

After all, the most important element in Slaughter City was blood. The so-called Bloody Mary appeared everywhere here.

Just as Tang San said in the original story, the blood here contained a slow-acting poison, while also having a stimulating effect.

There were many ways in the world to control people—so why had the ruler of Slaughter City always used blood? Was it just to make things feel more mysterious? There had to be a deeper secret behind it.

Though Yu Tianming didn't know the true secret behind the blood in Slaughter City, one thing was certain: if the source of the blood was destroyed, it would deal a massive blow to the entire city—possibly even destroy it entirely.

Yu Tianming thought, 'Should I follow Tang San's example and throw the Snow-Kissed Swan Kiss into the blood pool to destroy Slaughter City and cut off Tang San's path to inheriting the Asura God's position?'

'But if I destroy Slaughter City, the fallen soul masters who lost their last refuge would scatter across the continent and harm the innocent.'

'If I do that, how would I be any different from that beast Tang San?'

Since the immortal herb was carried by Yu Yuanzhen and not on his person, Yu Tianming decided to shelve the idea for now.

After finishing his scan of the surroundings, Yu Tianming looked at the narrow path ahead.

The path was no more than fifteen centimeters wide—barely wide enough for even one foot to stand on, let alone both.

This narrow, slender road led into the unknown darkness—and it was the only path leading out of the platform.

Seeing this, Yu Tianming couldn't help but frown.

He wasn't like Tang San and Hu Liena, who lacked the ability to fly, so he didn't fear the treacherous path ahead.

Although the narrow road floated entirely in midair, with his wings, he didn't need to rely on the path at all—he could fly over it with ease.

What he was worried about was whether he, like Tang San and Hu Liena, would encounter the Three-Headed Bat King or the Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Snake.

Decades ago, before those two had walked the Hell Road, Bibi Dong and Tang Hao had already passed it twice.

Yu Tianming thought, 'Given their temperaments, if those powerful creatures really had blocked the road, they'd have been beaten to a pulp already—how could they still be around for Tang San?'

Facing the unknown threat, Yu Tianming didn't rush ahead.

Instead, he sat down on the platform, calmed his mind, and adjusted his breathing to clear the effects left by Tang Chen's blood light.

Half an hour later, Yu Tianming opened his eyes. Martial Soul activated.

He didn't choose to fly, but began walking toward the narrow Hell Road.

'Unfolding my wings will make me a bigger target, and if I get attacked midair with no foothold, I could fall straight into the magma pool,' he thought. 'Better to walk and only fly if danger appears.'

Yu Tianming's figure slowly vanished into the dark red mist, leaving the small round platform behind.

Thanks to his wide-range electromagnetic perception, Yu Tianming didn't move slowly. In fact, he was lightly jogging.

As he advanced, Yu Tianming suddenly stopped.

The air was growing hotter.

Through his electromagnetic sense, he detected a swarm of bats—at least a thousand strong—rushing toward him from up ahead.

Gradually, the Hell Road was no longer quiet. Faint rustling sounds began to emerge around him.

Though still distant and subtle, with the bats' speed, they would reach him soon.

The buzzing grew louder. Yu Tianming could now see red shadows rapidly closing in.

Moments later, the bat swarm arrived. They were blood-red bats, smaller versions of the ones he'd seen in the Hell Slaughter Arena.

Each bat was about a foot long, with wingspans over a meter wide.

A thousand of them flying together looked like a blood-red cloud sweeping across the sky.

Yu Tianming remained calm in the face of so many blood bats.

Though his soul skills were suppressed, he could still release his Martial Soul. Long before the bats reached him, the scales covering his body had begun to glow with powerful energy.

The blood-red bats flew fast. In the blink of an eye, they were upon him.

Their eyes glowed crimson. Upon spotting him, they let out sharp, chattering cries and bared their fangs. Thousands of bats beat their wings, stirring up a foul wind. Yet as the stench-filled wind reached Yu Tianming, it turned into a gentle breeze and silently dissipated.

It was as if the bats had gained intelligence. Seeing the effect, they didn't attack immediately. Instead, they circled him quickly in the air, forming a tight ring.

Now, bats surrounded Yu Tianming from every direction.

As they gathered, Yu Tianming smiled slightly. The killing intent within him burst forth, and his eyes turned red.

The glow from the scales on his body surged, and in the next instant, a massive wave of energy exploded outward.
