Chapter 55 - Beast World, Hell Slaughter Arena

"Staying with you makes me safe?" Yu Tianming said with a bit of amusement.

The veiled woman glanced at him, and a hint of pride flashed on her somewhat attractive face beneath the black veil. "I am the messenger of the Slaughter King. In the City of Slaughter, no one dares offend his majesty. For twelve hours after you enter this world, having me by your side is the best protection for your life. After that, your life or death is up to fate."

Hearing this, Yu Tianming smiled and stepped into the inner city alongside her without hesitation.

As soon as he entered, he immediately felt the stark contrast in atmosphere compared to the outer city.

If the outer city was a world of deathly silence and cold indifference, then the inner city was one of decadence and madness.

There were far more people in the inner city, and it was nothing like the quiet of the outer district. The place was utterly chaotic, filled with bursts of wild laughter, painful wails, and countless eerie sounds that made one's skin crawl.

In a nearby corner, a massive man was grabbing a voluptuous woman by her hair, openly performing a pornographic scene in front of a crowd.

The people surrounding him were all cheering and egging him on.

By the roadside, three or four people were beating a young man to a pulp. Yu Tianming watched as one of the young man's arms was ripped off. The group then began fighting over the severed limb, gnawing on it like animals.

"Rather than calling this a paradise of sin, it's more like a world of beasts," Yu Tianming said calmly.

The veiled woman responded coldly, "Since you're here, you must abide by its rules."

Seeing that Yu Tianming was handsome, she added, "Number 9527, you don't look like a fool. You must understand—there are no outside laws here, and no one is your friend. Anyone could be harboring the intent to kill you."

Yu Tianming, unfazed, reiterated, "Take me to the Hell Slaughter Arena."

Though a bit annoyed by his insistence, she didn't argue further and strode toward the center of the inner city.

Just as she said, with her by his side, although many gave Yu Tianming hostile glances, no one dared to approach or provoke him.

His heart was pounding as he walked—he saw far too many things he'd never imagined. Even on an empty stomach, he almost vomited several times.

His disgust toward the City of Slaughter was growing exponentially. Here, he didn't even need to control himself—his killing intent surged naturally. It felt like only through slaughter could he vent the fury building inside.

"Let's go. Up ahead is the Hell Slaughter Arena—the very heart of the City of Slaughter."

Led by the veiled woman, Yu Tianming saw a unique building. Entirely black, it resembled an upside-down funnel. The structure stood about fifty meters tall, with the lower thirty meters forming a hemispherical dome. It wasn't beautiful, but it exuded a powerful sense of oppression.

Though the city's population wasn't large, the Hell Slaughter Arena was almost the size of Heaven Dou City's Great Spirit Arena. That alone showed its immense significance here.

The veiled woman explained, "The rules are simple: enter, register with your identity plate, then wait for the match to start. No fighting is allowed while waiting. Each match has ten participants. You can use any method you like—just make sure you're the last one alive. Only one survivor per match."

One in ten—just as brutal as expected in the City of Slaughter.

Yu Tianming asked, "And how do you become the so-called champion?"

The veiled woman looked surprised. "You just need to participate in one hundred matches. That's it. But the current top-ranked fighter has only made it through a little over fifty. Each victory adds one mark to your identity plate. Every win lets you live here another year and enjoy the pleasures of the inner city—if you survive them, that is."

"I want to go in and watch first."

She replied, "Watching requires a contribution of one cup of Bloody Mary. It can be your own or someone else's. As long as you don't get tired, you can watch as many matches as you like. Fights happen continuously—as soon as ten people sign up, a new match begins."

Yu Tianming frowned slightly. This city really had an obsession with blood.

Just then, a few people entered the arena, each holding a cup of crimson blood.

Yu Tianming stepped forward and blocked their path.

The leader was a dark-skinned, hawk-nosed middle-aged man. His upper body was bare, covered in colorful tattoos.

The ink had faded with time, and mixed with countless scars on his body, it made him look like some kind of multicolored, bruised beast.

"Hand over your Bloody Mary," Yu Tianming said, stretching out his hand to the man.

The tattooed man paused and glanced at the veiled woman beside Yu Tianming. A dangerous gleam appeared in his eyes.

The veiled woman's urgent voice rang out, "Number 9527, if you initiate a provocation, the newcomer protection won't apply."

This wasn't just a reminder for Yu Tianming—it also served as a warning to the tattooed man.

With a sinister grin, the tattooed man summoned his greatsword martial soul and slashed at Yu Tianming. His movements weren't fast, but they carried a crushing force—an intense wave of soul power accompanied the strike.

Sixtieth rank Soul Emperor. That was Yu Tianming's judgment of his strength.

But Yu Tianming didn't withdraw his hand. Instead, he lifted his right palm in a "lifting the sky" gesture and grabbed the greatsword directly with his dragon-transformed hand.

At the same time, his left foot stepped forward swiftly, closing the distance.

Since soul skills couldn't be used in the City of Slaughter, this was the perfect place for Yu Tianming to use his dragonized strength to dominate weaker foes.

The tattooed man felt like he'd hit solid steel—the blade wouldn't budge. He tried to pull it back, but Yu Tianming's right hand held it tight.

Yu Tianming yanked his right hand and reached for the man's shoulder with his left.

But the man reacted quickly, letting go of his sword and tossing the blood-filled cup in his left hand while trying to slap away Yu Tianming's left arm.

Quick as he was, he was no match for Yu Tianming's dragonized speed.

He tried to deflect Yu Tianming's hand, but Yu Tianming's arms were like reinforced steel—unshakable.
