I laid on the bed in the room I occupied, watching Magdalene as she uncovered the dishes, filling the entire room with a mouthwatering aroma. My hands rubbed gently over the small bump on my stomach, which had only just begun to show.
I was still on bed rest, although it was over two months since I came back from the hospital, and Dr Cole had prescribed only a month bedrest. Dr Leonard had insisted I remain on bedrest for a few more days and here I was, still on bedrest after two months.
Each time I protested, I got the same dismissive response from him. "Resting is never too much," he would say, and immediately delve into another topic of discussion so that I have stopped asking altogether, and found a way to go around it.
"Good morning sir," Magdalene greeted Leonard, once he stepped into the room. He was dressed for work, I observed. In a black suit of course. Coming into my room each morning had become a part of his daily routine, one I secretly anticipated.
