I sat on the couch, my legs crossed, my hands coiled around my jaw as I thought about everything.
The report reaching me was that Doctor Kate had resigned and left the city. From all indications, no one had any trace of where she could be.
My chest tightened with rage. She never did what I asked her to, and then she eloped?
Who gave her such nerve and guts to go against my wishes? And to think Catherine was still carrying that child, whose father I didn't know, was just so unsettling.
I rubbed my cheeks, my thoughts going round in circles. How do I deal with the rising issues in my heart?
Then Emilia's call came in. What did she want again? I ignored the call, but on the third ring, I hesitated and picked it up.
"What were you doing at the Moores' mansion? I heard you went there, and from all evidence, you want to be with that silly bitch," she blurted out without giving me a chance to speak.
