"How could you get drugs for my daughter without informing us? What do you know about health matters? Answer me, when did you finally become a doctor?"
"Dad, stop," I called out, stretching my arms to hold him back, but his arms struck mine forcefully, and the next thing I realized, I was on the floor from the impact.
"Catherine!" Mum cried out, rushing toward me. Dad also stepped forward and helped lift me from the floor.
"Why would you do that?" Mum said, her voice wavering as she looked up at Dad, panic evident in her tone.
Dad ran his hands through his hair, his eyes reflecting the same panic as he bent low beside the couch where I was now seated.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. It was a mistake. You shouldn't have stood up for this silly bastard. He messed with your life by getting random drugs for you when I could've called the doctor to….."
