Adalyn's lips were left separated. She was taken aback by his statement. Looking at him, she squinted her eyes and then swallowed.
"Do you think I'll go to another man if you leave?"
Seemed like after that night he touched her, the gift and his actions toward her in just three days, she didn't see him as the beast who killed two people anymore but a man.
"Adalyn," he called her name softly as he looked at his feet. "If only you knew how dangerous every day is for me. I could die any time…" he raised his gaze. "...it doesn't have to be through a fight."
'What does he mean?' Her pulse increased.
'Don't terrify her,' Lope said.
'I don't want to. I don't want her to be curious but she's just so stubborn,' he replied. His eyes were on hers.
"Why aren't you dead yet?" She asked. The silent gaps between their responses was crazy. They seemed to be thinking too much about their responses.
