Jackson froze.
Alexander's grip twisted just enough to make the man wince in pain, eyes bulging.
Charlotte inhaled sharply.
Alexander didn't even look at Jackson. His eyes were locked on Charlotte as he stepped forward, placing himself solidly between her and the danger.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, voice low. Beneath the words lay an undeniable current of concern—perhaps this time, he wasn't even trying to hide it.
Charlotte shook her head, but her mouth opened, unsure what to say.
Alexander finally looked at Jackson. "You'll be escorted out. Permanently."
"Alex—" Jackson tried.
"Mr. Hastings." Alexander stepped closer. "And I suggest you use your remaining breath to start rehearsing your apology to your next employer—assuming you find one."
Security arrived a heartbeat later, as if summoned by sheer authority. Jackson was dragged out, still muttering threats that no one paid attention to.
The hallway fell silent.
