Eleanor glanced at Alexander's expression, her brows lifting in mild surprise. She leaned in a bit closer and whispered,
"Ohhh... it seems someone's brain has finally started working on something real. Come on! Tell me, what are you thinking? Marriage? Are you finally adding that to your life to-do list?"
Alexander quickly reined in his wandering thoughts and leaned his head back, creating a small gap between himself and Eleanor. A twinge of guilt tugged at him, yet when facing a mother who badgered him about dating and marriage non-stop, he refused to admit the truth.
At least, not for now. He had no doubt that if he did, she'd waste no time planning his wedding ceremony by the very next day. Yes, that was precisely the kind of thing Eleanor was capable of—acting with efficiency, decisive, and ready to act on a whim.
