Chapter 194 - [194] My Mother and Sister

If one were to find a fitting adjective for this woman, it would be stunning.

Her facial features were delicate and elegant, comparable even to the goddesses Eiji had seen in the Danmachi world. Her amethyst-like eyes seemed to always overflow with gentleness.

Especially in that white sweater she was wearing, which accentuated her extraordinary figure—the way it lifted her chest high, the smooth curve of her waist and hips—on the street, she would undoubtedly attract countless gazes, drawing the attention of prying eyes.

This woman was Eiji's mother in this world.

She was a woman who exuded maternal warmth at all times, akin to the ideal of a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko, well-regarded among the neighbors.

Carrying a tray in her hands, she brightened up the moment she saw Eiji. Her soft brows arched in joy, her entire presence radiating happiness.

"Oh my, the new school uniform suits you well, Ali! You're looking more and more like your father!"

Her delight was genuine.

Though she had an absolutely stunning appearance, her demeanor remained graceful and pure—completely different from Freya's seductiveness. She was an utterly sincere woman.

"Do we even have a father in this house?"

Eiji loosened his slightly tight collar and made a sarcastic remark as he walked towards the bathroom.

"Of course we do!"

"Then why don't we even have a single photo of him?"

"Oh, well… your father left in a bit of a hurry… But I promise you, he looks exactly like you, Ali! Like you were both carved from the same mold! I fell in love with him at first sight!"

Heh. No comment.

Eiji chuckled internally.

Someone as handsome as me, and there's another one just like me?

That aside, what does it even mean for someone to look exactly like me?

Even though I was reincarnated into this world, my appearance remained identical to my past self. There's no way someone else could look exactly like me!

...Unless my father is actually me?!

Ridiculous!

After freshening up, Eiji, now fully energized, entered the dining room, where breakfast was already neatly arranged on the table.

The meal was quite luxurious and well-balanced: steamed rice sprinkled with shredded seaweed, salmon as the main dish, translucent seaweed salad as a side, and golden, fluffy tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet).

"Big brother, you're so slow!"

Someone was already waiting at the table.

Upon seeing Eiji's leisurely pace, she couldn't help but complain.

"What's the rush? It's just the first day of school."

Ignoring her complaints, Eiji took a seat.

"Brother, show some sense of urgency! You're the only man in the house, you know!"

Sitting across from him was his younger sister, wearing a worried expression.

Eiji promptly switched his mental "translator" to Japanese, and his sister immediately started calling him "Onii-chan" nonstop.

She was an adorable girl.

Dressed in a navy-blue sailor uniform, she was clearly still in middle school. Though her features had yet to fully mature, the outline of a delicate beauty was already apparent. Her shoulder-length cherry-blossom-colored hair cascaded naturally, with a signature ahoge swaying atop her head.

Her personality was naturally optimistic, the type that would make anyone feel good upon first meeting her.

But when it came to her older brother, she was overly strict.

"Calm down, Souji. You're completely disregarding Dad. Mom's going to be sad."

"Hehehe, it's fine! Dad said he'd be back in twenty years, so Mom will wait for him forever!"

Their mother covered her face, wearing an expression of blissful longing.

Tch. Scumbag.

Eiji spat in his heart at the father he had never met.

Even someone as flirtatious as himself would never seduce innocent girls if he couldn't take responsibility. Otherwise, Ais and Lefiya would have long since fallen into his hands.

This father he had never met wasn't just a scumbag—he was trash.

"Mom is way too devoted to that guy."

His sister, Souji, muttered in a low voice, her words laced with resentment toward their father.

'Even if we assume he actually wants to take responsibility, how do you leave for over a decade and not send a single cent of child support?'

These words could never be said out loud.

If Mom ever heard bad things about Dad, she would definitely cry.

Seeing that their mother was still lost in her dreams of the future, seemingly unaware of their complaints, Souji sighed in relief.

"We're heading out!"

After breakfast, the two of them grabbed their bags and said their goodbyes to their mother.

Before leaving, Eiji glanced at the nameplate on the door.

It was a white plate with a single large character: "Minamoto".

His mother was Minamoto-no-Raikou.

His sister was Okita Souji.

And he was Eiji.

"Souji, don't you think it's weird that our family of three has three different last names?"

"Eh? Not really, why do you ask?"

"No reason."

Even after living here for over a decade, he still found this world absolutely bizarre.

Common sense simply did not apply here.

The early April morning still carried a trace of chill.

The two walked through the narrow residential alleys, entered the spacious pedestrian streets, passed a few traffic lights, walked through a bustling shopping district, and made their way toward the winding mountain road.

Today was the first day of school.

Eiji was 15 years old, starting his first year of high school.

His sister, Souji, was 14 years old, entering her third year of middle school.

This small town, called Kinoko Town—formerly known as Mushroom Town, though the name was changed because it sounded silly—wasn't very large. It couldn't compare to a major city like Tokyo.

Twenty years ago, Kinoko Town was a backwater rural village. But thanks to a newly elected mayor who aggressively developed its resources, it modernized within a decade.

Even so, in late 20th-century Japan, such a town barely caught the tail end of modernization. Since it didn't attract much capital, its tourism industry remained stagnant, leaving it in an awkward in-between state.

With a population of only around 100,000, Kinoko Town had only one school—a private institution that housed both middle school and high school divisions.

Walking past the winding mountain road, the school campus came into view.

"Good morning."

The security guard standing at the iron gate was well-liked. Many students greeted him as they passed, and he responded with a warm smile.

"Good morning, Amakusa-san!"

Souji cheerfully greeted the young, slightly tanned man with white hair.

"Good morning, Okita."

Security guard Amakusa-san greeted the blonde girl with his usual kind smile, his voice deep and magnetic.

Souji was quite popular in the middle school division. Many staff members knew this lively, innocent girl.

But the moment Eiji appeared, all attention shifted to him.

Students and teachers alike—regardless of gender—couldn't help but stare at him in silence, making the area momentarily still.

Eiji glanced at the golden nameplate at the school gate.

It read: "Private Type-Moon Academy."
