CHAPTER FIVELQ
ZA FAMILY HOUSE – LIVING ROOM
Eliza's second school year had just started. She sat in her car in her emerald coloured blazer, damp green folded skirt and a black button shirt, waiting for Jack to come so they will go to school.
There are three classes in the Emerald school for Guardians, and they are: The 'O' class, The 'A' class and the 'B' class. These classes are not ranked by age or the number of years spent in the school, but by performance.
The 'O' stands for Outstanding while, the 'A' stands for Average, and the 'B' stands for Below Average.
Jack had written the entrance exam a few weeks ago and almost died of a heart attack when he found out that he got into the 'A' class.
"Jack, aren't you coming, Cause I am going to go now."
"Do you really want to leave me behind". Jack says this as he slowly walks down the stairs with one hand in his pocket and the other one holding his bag.
"What we're you doing this whole time, Jack?"
"It is none of your business."
Annoyed at what Jack was doing, Eliza starts driving.
"Wait! Eliza! Wait!"
Then Jack chases after Eliza car but it had already gone so far that Jack couldn't see it talk more of reaching it .
He yells at her to come back but she just ignores him and keeps on driving.
"So, you were dumped?"
Jack looks back to see a short blonde girl standing a few meters behind him.
"Who are you?"
The blonde girl place her hands on her waist and replies, "My name is Olivia, but you can call me Liv for short."
"OK, so why are you talking to me?"
"I want to be your friend."
To Liv's surprise, Jack decides to walk away from where she was. She then points her finger at him and shouts.
"Don't just walk away like that, you meanie!"
"Who do you think you are talking to, do you know who I am?"
"I wonder which is the answer, is it 'an egoistic bitch or just a m___"
Liv is suddenly interrupted by Jack, who holds her shoulder.
"How, just how do you know?"
"Not telling, unless you be my friend and walk to school with me."
Jack tightens his fists, veins appear on his head. The thought of someone he considered weaker than him, telling him what to do made him mad with rage.
"So are you gonna do it."
Jack releases his fists and talks to Liv in a calm manner.
"It's not like I have a choice".
Out of excitement, Liv runs to Jack and hugs him tight.
"Yay, I have a new friend."
Jack forcefully pushes Liv away from his being.
"Since I am now your friend, don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Liv faces Jack with a smile so devious that Jack had to throw a side kick at her, but she blocks it with her arms.
"You didn't even let me talk and you already want to kill me."
Feeling terrified and worried Jack asks Liv a question
"What was that smile you just displayed right now?"
"Does it really matter, are you scared of a common bloodlust filled smile?"
Jack tries to shift the topic because of his inability to accept defeat and his inability to lie. It is so bad that Jack had totally forgotten his loss to Teresa back in his mother's hospital room.
"So are you not going to tell me how you know about 'that'?"
"Oh, you have to walk me to school first cause that's what friends do, and don't worry we go to the same school."
"You go to school, isn't that place for sane kids?"
EMERALD SCHOOL FOR GUARDIANS – HALLWAYS
Eliza roams the hallway in search of Jack with a furious expression on her face. News that Jack and Liv, her lifelong rival were seen together had already reached her.
"I'm going to kill, kill, kill, kill..."
Then Eliza finally spots Liv aimlessly talking to Jack as he observes the school environmental.
"There you are."
Eliza rushes to Liv and grabs her blazer.
"Are you trying to try and kill me again?"
"What are you doing with Jack?"
Liv forcefully removes Eliza's hand from her blazer.
"What, so Jack can't have friends again?"
Eliza tries to grab Jack's hand, but Liv holds it.
"What are you doing?"
"Let's go to class, we sword practice first period and I don't want to miss it."
Jack stares at Liv with an intimidating gaze, so she would let her go.
"Please, let go."
But Liv answers Jack with a gentle but devious smile.
"No"
Eliza places her arm around Liv's shoulders and she smiles, thus changing Wiping the smile out of Liv's face.
"Do you really want your new friend to see you lose terribly in a sword fight."
"Lose? Ever since that incident last session, I have been training intensively, so there is no way you or anyone in the 'A' class can beat me".
