Heather removed her broken heel from her feet as she rubbed her ankle. She stared at Caius, who was trying to help her, with disdain, anger, and something else she couldn't quite place. If he hadn't distracted her with his words, she wouldn't have hurt her feet like this. Apparently, she sprained her ankle.
They had just been arguing when it happened, she got distracted when he mentioned that she'd have to stay at the Thorne residence now, since he owned everything. And since she was his "wife." Heather had been trying to tell him what she thought about it when she missed a step, breaking her heel and twisting her ankle in the same moment.
"Let go," she snapped, pushing his hands from her legs.
Caius was kneeling in front of her as she sat on the stairs, trying to calm herself down.
He turned his back toward her, still before her, unmoving.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Climb on."
