The Spencer Villa loomed in elegant silence as the two sisters stepped out of Shantel's black ca. The headlights briefly illuminate the circular driveway before fading into darkness.
The evening air was crisp, but Claudia felt none of its coolnessas as she looked up at the imposing mansion a few feet away from where they were.
She adjusted her coat nervously and followed Shantel who was already walking ahead as if she was a regular visitor there.
"Keep walking," Shantel murmured without slowing down. "She might be watching."
The massive oak door opened just as they reached it, revealing the butler who stepped aside with a nod, silently inviting them in.
"Mrs. Spencer is waiting in the blue salon," he said.
"Thanks," Claudia said with a respectful nod in the butler's direction.
They followed the butler through a polished corridor line with gilded frames and ancestral oil paintings until he pushed open the double doors.
