And, just as Kyoji had expected, when the door opened, they stepped into the same white room with the same rows of doors.
They were back where they started.
"What?" Brick shouted, his pride suddenly deflated.
"Well, so much for that victory," Klein muttered as the group walked back into the room, clearly discouraged.
Kyoji, however, began thinking more deeply about what had just happened.
He had already suspected that something was off with this challenge.
First, the Celvaris Academy was known for valuing merit. So why would they create a test based purely on luck?
Second, time was clearly important here.
He estimated they had spent at least ten minutes just walking through that corridor and reaching the wrong door. Other groups could be wasting even more time.
Finally, there was the written test they had taken earlier—something new in the academy's entrance exam. Was that a clue?
It had to be.
