"Shouldn't the Thunder God's weapon be a hammer?" Lin Yongming blurted out in surprise.
"A hammer?" The Thunder God raised an eyebrow. "I've never wielded such a thing. Why would you think that?"
"Ah… never mind." Lin Yongming coughed awkwardly before shifting the topic. "The spear is fine—it's called the 'King of Weapons,' after all. But I've never trained in spear techniques. My expertise was always the sword."
The Thunder God smirked. "That's hardly an obstacle. Though I'm now just a remnant of my former self, teaching you the basics of spear combat is well within my capabilities."
"First, I'll drill you in the fundamentals. Then, I'll pass down the 'Nine Styles of the Profound Thunder Spear.'"
"Whenever you're ready, the training begins."
Lin Yongming didn't respond immediately. Instead, he fully manifested the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder Spear, gripping its shaft as he inspected it closely.
The spear measured 185 centimeters in length, its 15-centimeter blade shaped like a willow leaf, gleaming with an icy blue sheen. The tassel was black, the shaft a deep azure, and the butt cap a metallic blue.
Testing its weight—over 70 kilograms—Lin Yongming spun it experimentally before nodding.
"It's well-balanced. The length and weight suit me."
"Naturally," the Thunder God replied. "The spear has bonded with you as your martial soul. It adapts to its wielder."
Lin Yongming then summoned his Thunder Judgment Sword in his left hand. Unlike before, the blade looked dull and rusted, its edges faint as if on the verge of dissipating.
"My reconstructed body lost its Wave Energy. Even the sword can barely maintain its form."
But a realization struck him.
"This might be a blessing in disguise."
"With the Tome of Fluctuations, I can rebuild my Wave Energy from scratch. And now that the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder Spear serves as my second martial soul, I'm no longer shackled by the spirit ring system."
"This time, I'll refine my understanding of Wave Energy at every stage—perfecting what I once rushed through."
The dual martial souls offered an unprecedented advantage: spirit rings for the spear wouldn't interfere with the sword's Wave Energy cultivation.
"Thunder God," Lin Yongming finally spoke, "you're certain this won't hinder my Wave Energy training?"
"Your Wave Energy exists outside the divine realm's rules. Previously, lacking a second martial soul forced you to rely on spirit rings for breakthroughs. But now?" The Thunder God's eyes gleamed. "This reconstruction was fate's gift to you."
"The spear is your second origin. Cultivate it independently, and your Wave Energy will advance unrestrained."
"Inheriting my godhood won't conflict with your path."
Lin Yongming absorbed the words, then recalled both weapons. Meeting the Thunder God's gaze, he declared:
"I accept the Thunder God's trials."
The god's usually impassive face flickered with emotion. "Excellent. With your potential, surpassing my former glory isn't impossible. The divine realm may yet gain a new God King."
The God's Gift: Spirit Rings Beyond Limits
"But I'm currently at rank 10. To advance, I need spirit rings—and this place seems devoid of spirit beasts." Lin Yongming scanned the barren palace.
"Ordinary spirit rings are merely energy imprinted with a beast's attributes. But gods can forge pure spirit rings—unbound by elements, adapting perfectly to the absorber."
"These are 'God-Bestowed Spirit Rings.' No side effects. No limitations."
"I've heard of them—the Sea God's Island has similar relics," Lin Yongming recalled.
The Thunder God retrieved an ancient crimson box from behind his throne, revealing nine blue orbs inside.
"Nine God-Bestowed Spirit Rings, prepared precisely for scenarios like yours—where body reconstruction erases prior cultivation."
Handing one orb to Lin Yongming, he instructed: "Crush it to release the energy. Then, channel it as you would any spirit ring."
"Remember: these rings have no preset year limits. They'll evolve to match your endurance—up to a 100,000-year ring, if you can withstand it."
The First Step: A New Beginning
Lin Yongming sat cross-legged in the throne room, crushing the orb. A white, decade-ranked spirit ring materialized first—its purity stark against the gloom.
The Nine Heavens Profound Thunder Spear hovered before him, awaiting its first bond.
This would be his primary martial soul now.
And so, with the Thunder God as his guide and the spear as his new foundation, Lin Yongming's path to godhood officially began.
