Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Nano Bat!

The lightsaber thrown with force by the black robot was so fast that even Jessica wasn't sure she could dodge it.

But Bruce, piloting the Batwing, did manage to avoid the black robot's attack.

However, he only narrowly evaded a fatal blow—the lightsaber still grazed the wing of the Batwing.

This attack successfully disrupted Bruce's plan to suppress the black robot with firepower.

In the next second, the black robot spread its wings and activated its thrusters at full power.

With extreme speed and an incredibly tough body, the black robot pierced straight through the Batwing in an instant.

Gwen, who was currently fighting alongside Jessica in a 2-on-1 battle, turned her head toward the sky—where the Batwing had already been sliced in two.

She shouted a warning to Jessica to be careful, then charged in the direction where the Batwing was falling. But how could Gwen possibly be faster than the black robot?

The black robot had already retrieved the lightsaber it had thrown and dove down again, slicing open the Batwing's cockpit.

"No!!!"

Gwen cried out in anguish. With her sharp eyesight, she had never seen Bruce escape from the Batwing. To her, the black robot's latest attack was nothing less than a death sentence for Bruce.

Boom!

The black robot landed directly in front of Gwen, staring at this spider-person who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

Without saying a word, it transformed its lightsaber into a stun baton.

Raising it high, the robot prepared to take down the spider in front of it.

Gwen was at a loss. The main reason she had come here was Bruce's uniqueness.

Bruce was the pillar that had allowed her to come to this universe—and now, it felt like that pillar had collapsed.

Jessica, seeing the black robot raise its baton to strike, cried out to Gwen in desperation.

"Wake up!!!"

"You should be more worried about yourself!"

But Tigress was still relentlessly entangling Jessica, giving her no chance to provide any support.

"Trust me, the boss is just fine!"

Even while fighting Tigress, Jessica still found the resolve to call out to Gwen. As someone who had been with the boss longer than anyone, she had the confidence to say that.

"These guys can't be killed! Batman!!!"

Hearing Jessica's words, Gwen looked up at the black robot. Her eyes no longer held sorrow or grief.

She suddenly lashed out, punching the black robot in the abdomen, then quickly withdrew from its attack range.

At that moment, she was as agile as a ballet dancer on stage.

Standing in a T-stance, Gwen locked her eyes on the black robot.

"Why do you insist on resisting?"

The black robot clearly didn't understand why these people always refused to simply fall quietly into its grasp.

It would be the best choice for them—not needing to suffer any more pain.

Yet nearly everyone chose to fight back.

Gwen didn't bother answering the robot's question. Instead, she clenched her fists, ready to teach this metal brute a hard lesson.

Sometimes, the explosive power of humans isn't that much weaker than these machines.

Gwen no longer held back the power in her body. Just stomping hard on the ground caused the asphalt to completely shatter.

This was the true power of a spider. She launched a punch directly at the robot's chest.

It might not be the robot's energy core, but it was surely its control center.

If she could smash that, Gwen didn't believe it would be able to stand again.

The black robot swung its stun baton, slamming it directly against Gwen's fist.

A massive surge of electricity shot through the baton in an instant.

But the scene the black robot had calculated—Gwen being paralyzed by the shock—never occurred.

Instead, the current was completely absorbed and converted by Gwen's nano-suit, and then redirected back at the black robot.

With a punch infused with surging electricity, Gwen destroyed the robot's stun baton. Her punch didn't slow down—it smashed straight into the robot's chest.

It must be said, that surge of electricity had definitely caused the robot some trouble. Its right arm was now nearly unusable.

Just as Gwen was about to press the advantage, her Spider-Sense suddenly went off.

"Gwen!!!"

Jessica shouted, but that brief moment of distraction gave Tigress the opening she needed to punch Jessica in the face.

"You're worried about someone else, but you're about to die yourself."

Tigress looked down with a smile at Jessica, who had been knocked to the ground, and slowly approached her.

Gwen jumped up in a hurry—but a sonic blast struck the ground behind her, completely shattering the already damaged pavement.

It came from a woman clad in external armor, slowly descending using her powers.

Accompanying her was a man with a deep red face, so red it looked like he was dipped in pigment.

At the center of his forehead was a yellow diamond-shaped mark.

It was clear these were the black robot's reinforcements.

"Black Knight, you're looking a little rough."

As the armored woman landed, she was clearly surprised that the Black Knight had been put in such a tough spot by just two spider-people.

But the Black Knight didn't care about her comment—he just began reconnecting the mechanical joints that had been dislodged by the electric shock.

The red-faced man flew over to the Black Knight and placed a hand on his shoulder, instantly repairing it.

"You're welcome."

The guy said this casually, not expecting any response.

But the Black Knight didn't bother acknowledging him.

"That spider's suit uses nanotechnology." The Black Knight instantly recognized the tech behind Gwen's suit. And conveniently, they had someone who could easily deal with it.

Hearing this, the red-faced man turned to look at Gwen.

"Impressive nanotech. Not something I can break through quickly."

The red-faced man was confident in his abilities, but the complexity of the nanobots in Gwen's suit would still take time to overcome.

"Then let's just take her down!"

The armored woman didn't waste any words—she raised her hand and unleashed a sonic blast.

Unfortunately for her, Gwen had that absurd ability called Spider-Sense and dodged it effortlessly.

But before Gwen could adjust her posture mid-air, the Black Knight fired a beam that struck her directly, sending her crashing down.

The red-faced man charged straight ahead, grabbing Gwen by the neck and slamming her into the ground.

Meanwhile, the battle between Tigress and Jessica had clearly taken a dramatic turn. Distracted earlier, Jessica had taken a solid punch from Tigress.

As Tigress walked toward the spot where she had smashed Jessica into a building, she nonchalantly licked her claws.

Jessica's blood still stained her claws.

"I'm coming!"

Perhaps the scent of blood had stirred her, as Tigress bared her fangs and immediately rushed into the building.

But in the very next second, Tigress was sent flying backward. She had no idea what had hit her and didn't even have time to react.

The airborne Tigress crashed straight into the red-faced man.

The sudden change caused both the Black Knight and the woman to halt their attacks. They had no idea what was happening now.

Could it be that the Ultimate Team had arrived?

But the problem was, Ford had told them during their mission briefing that the current Ultimate Team, along with S.H.I.E.L.D., was being completely played by a mysterious woman.

Logically, there was no way they could've returned to New York so quickly.

The Black Knight and the red-faced man immediately activated their infrared thermal imaging, but within seconds, they saw a flash of red streaking toward them at high speed.

Even after quickly switching back to normal vision, all they could see was a shadow darting straight at them.

That figure knocked both the Black Knight and the red-faced man flying.

And then he stood beside Gwen.

Looking at the familiar shape of the helmet, Gwen instantly knew who it was standing before her.

Who else but that bat would wear such a helmet?

His cape was no longer made of velvet-like fabric; instead, it resembled ink splashed across a Chinese painting—wild, unrestrained, and stained with scattered droplets.

"Nano-robots," muttered the red-faced man, now recognizing the figure in front of him. The thing that gave the cape its fluid, ink-like movement was indeed nanotechnology.

However, the red-faced man was puzzled by the nature of the nano-robots on this person's body. They seemed to have completely merged with his flesh and blood.

But the man before him was clearly still a normal human.

The Black Knight didn't care what the red-faced man was saying. His only focus was completing his mission. He drew his lightsaber again and slashed at the newly arrived Bruce.

From what the Black Knight knew, even with the aid of nano-robots, no regular human could achieve a physical prowess that surpassed that of superhumans.

The only explanation for his rapid arrival was propulsion from the nano-robots. It couldn't have been done by sheer physical ability alone.

But the moment he swung his sword, Bruce's figure mysteriously vanished from view.

His speed far exceeded that of any spider-powered opponent who had ever dodged his attacks.

A second later, the Black Knight felt a sudden change in his body—his limbs no longer obeyed him.

He crashed to the ground, finally able to look at himself and see what had happened.

Bruce's nano-robots had completely severed his limbs.

The Black Knight couldn't believe what he was seeing. How could this happen to him? His armor was built with the strongest, most resilient materials and infused with all kinds of strange powers—and yet it had been taken apart just like that.

"Attack him! Quake!"

Ford's voice roared through the comms, ordering Quake to unleash her powers and destroy that damn bat.

Though stunned by Bruce's sudden appearance, Quake still launched her assault.

Her hands erupted with tremendous force aimed directly at Bruce.

But Bruce was far faster than she was. In the next second, Quake realized the external armor she wore to mitigate the side effects of her powers had been completely dismantled.

Ford was furious. He couldn't understand how this bat always had something like this up his sleeve.

But now that things had escalated, there was no turning back. The bat had to die here. He also had to complete the mission given by the superior.

After giving his final orders to Tigress and the red-faced man, Ford turned and left. He needed to bring out his last resort.

Looking at the battlefield, now clearly in their opponent's favor, Tigress had no intention of continuing the fight. She turned and bolted in another direction—she had to get out of there.

For her, sometimes orders from above weren't worth following.

After all, you only get one life.

But there was no way Jessica was going to let her escape so easily.

Despite her injuries, the symbiotic metal had stopped the bleeding. In an instant, Jessica appeared in Tigress's path, blocking her escape.

"I'm not exactly the forgiving type. You just punched me—don't think you can walk away from that."

This time, it was Jessica smiling as she spoke to Tigress.

The red-faced man didn't mind continuing the fight, even if he knew defeat was inevitable.

He shot a laser from his eyes—not at Bruce, but at Gwen standing nearby.

Gwen dodged in a flash.

But in the next second, the red-faced man had vanished. Ford hadn't sent him to stall for time with Tigress.

He had a much more important mission now.

The red-faced man shot into the sky, disappearing from view in an instant. Not even Bruce, wrapped in nano-robots, could match his speed.

Now, the only ones left on the battlefield were the Black Knight—his limbs severed—and Quake, who could no longer use her powers.

And, of course, Tigress, who was now cornered.

Meanwhile, the members of the Ultimate Team were elsewhere—at another Hydra base.

There, hidden agents from S.H.I.E.L.D., or perhaps defectors, had taken up residence.

And within that base… was a weapon of terrifying power and extreme danger.
