Chapter 224 - Chapter 224: Evenly Matched!

Finn stood up, a hint of sarcasm curling at the corner of his mouth. "If you continue like this, you will surely die. Surrender, and I might leave your body intact."

Hearing this, Mara was enraged. His voice turned cold. "Trash, don't get cocky. I am Mara, king of the Demon Faction. How could I fall so easily?"

Mara's heart was a storm of fury. As the strongest of the entire Demon Faction, he could not allow himself to be humiliated like this. The thought of submitting to Finn, even in words, was abhorrent. He burned with a desire to rip Finn's body apart, to flay him alive and scatter his remains to appease the hatred seething in his soul.

BOOM!!

Suddenly—

A strange black mist erupted from Mara's body, rapidly expanding until it blanketed the sky.

"What is this?" Finn's eyes narrowed. The black mist coiled around him, and unease settled in his chest.

Hum!

In the next instant, the black mist surged forward, sweeping toward Finn, wrapping him in its formless grasp.

HURRAH!!!

The mist flooded the area, soon enveloping the entire block in choking darkness.

"Damn it! What the hell is this?" Finn's voice was grim. He tried to summon the eldritch energy forged through his time at Kamar-Taj, but to his shock, the mist cut off his connection to it.

What is this sorcery?

"Heh heh heh... I told you, you're going to die today!"

Mara's form emerged through the black fog, eyes gleaming with twisted amusement. To him, Finn was already dead. The mist cloaked not just the battlefield but his confidence.

Finn's expression hardened. "If you're so obsessed with your demise, then I'll oblige and send you straight to hell."

He remained unfazed, as though the darkness meant nothing.

In Finn's hand, a golden battle halberd materialized, forged through the combination of mystical incantations and Stark-tech metallurgy, embedded with thunder runes crafted under the guidance of Wong and reinforced in the Sanctum Sanctorum.

This was the Nine Dragons Halberd—a mystical weapon channeling both Asgardian thunder and arcane power.

"This time, you die."

With a thunderous cry, Finn soared through the sky, halberd in hand. Waves of immense energy exploded from him, sweeping through the area.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The clash of halberds echoed. Finn's movements were agile and precise, weaving through the combat zone with deadly efficiency. Every strike he delivered was devastating, reverberating through the air.

Mara, despite his monstrous strength, began to falter under Finn's relentless assault.

It was clear—Finn had grown stronger, more dangerous.

Mara couldn't understand it. The power radiating from Finn now far exceeded their last exchange.

Compounded with the Nine Dragons Halberd, Finn was overwhelming.

"Aaaargh!!"

Mara screamed. His body was lacerated with wounds, blood seeping from dozens of gashes.

Finn's gaze turned ice-cold. He raised the halberd and with a final thrust—PSSST!—drove the blade through Mara's skull.

"Demon or not... before absolute power, you all bleed the same."

Finn murmured this, his tone hollow as he gazed at the crumpled body.

All of it had only taken minutes. The conclusion was sealed.

Though Mara was powerful, Finn triumphed.

"As expected of a human... that level of power was surprising."

The voice came from within the dissipating black mist.

"You're still alive?" Finn raised an eyebrow, his expression darkening. Something wasn't right.

"Of course. But now I've found a way to become more than what I was."

Mara's voice oozed with malice.

"Oh? And what method would that be?"

"We demons are born from darkness. I have summoned the Dark Domain. Once it's complete, not even the Sorcerer Supreme could breach it. You're trapped, Finn."

Finn sneered. "Then show me. I'll crush it."

He understood now—Mara had become an obstacle he could not leave standing.

Swish!

Gripping the Nine Dragons Halberd, Finn launched himself toward the mist, energy flaring with renewed intensity.

BOOM!!

The entire region sank into a deeper layer of darkness.

Within the mist, a torrent of monstrous attacks materialized, bombarding Finn from all sides. Each one seethed with the wrath of a demonic realm.

Even with the halberd, Finn was pushed to the edge.

"Break!"

With a furious roar, Finn summoned every drop of mystical and internal energy, funneling it into the halberd.

CRACK!

The halberd ignited in radiant power. With a wide sweep, he slashed toward the surrounding fog.

BANG!

The darkness cracked and shattered, the area finally clear.

"What?!"

The fog receded, and Mara reappeared—but his expression twisted in rage. A fresh wound had torn across his abdomen.

He howled, possessed with fury. "You've angered me, human!"

Devilish energy exploded from Mara, cascading into the air and scorching the very sky.

"Mara... DIE!"

Finn charged again, halberd slicing forward like a guillotine.

"Hmph. Think you can kill me that easily? Dream on!"

A vortex of black mist swirled behind Mara, transforming into a monstrous, spectral wolf.

The beast stood over three stories high, massive and menacing, exuding raw dread. It was a nightmare creature, likely born from the same hell-dimension that birthed the Mindless Ones.

WOOHOO!

The spectral wolf howled, jaws wide. It unleashed wave after wave of razor-sharp wind blades toward Finn.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The wind blades tore through the air, slicing into Finn. Blood sprayed, his armor torn in places.

"Damn it... this bastard was hiding his strength all along."

Finn's teeth clenched.

The tide had turned. The demon wolf dominated the field.

With no time to spare, Finn summoned every ounce of energy and channeled it through the halberd.

The weapon roared with divine light.

"DIE!!"

The halberd gleamed brighter, releasing a beam of condensed might. In its wake, nine ethereal dragon spirits—manifestations of pure destructive energy—unleashed.

WHOOSH!

The dragons surged forth, howling, clashing violently with the shadow wolf.

BOOOOM!!

The collision sparked a violent maelstrom. The landscape trembled as raw power exploded outward.

The battle surged in intensity. Neither side relented.

"You're strong, human," Mara snarled. "But if you think I'm out of cards, think again."

His eyes blazed with wrath.

Clapping his hands, Mara summoned a sphere of condensed darkness—the size of a city bus.

"This is the end."

The black orb spun rapidly, warping gravity and space around it.

"Perish in the abyss!"

He hurled it toward Finn.

The orb crushed everything in its path, leaving torn rifts in reality behind it.

"Tch. A glorified parlor trick."

Finn charged once more, halberd raised.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM...

Their clash escalated, distorting the battlefield into chaos.

Then, Mara vanished.

"What the—?"

Finn paused, scanning the ruins, every sense on high alert.

Nothing.

No trace. No sound.

"Did he retreat...?"

Finn narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the surroundings.

But something still didn't feel right.

This wasn't over.

Not yet.
