The weight of the letter in my hand felt heavier than parchment and ink had any right to be. Blake stood across from me, his arms crossed but his eyes wary.
I unfolded the crisp sheet and read aloud, my voice low and laced with growing rage.
"This is Alpha Xander Bryce of the Moonstone Pack. I extended an invitation for us to meet. Rumors travel fast, Ian Knight, of your rise, your alliances, your ambitions. You are shaking the West, aligning with the North and South… But whatever the East? Power unchecked becomes a threat.

My fingers crumpled the page before I realized I was doing it. My jaw locked, breath coming in hot and ragged through clenched teeth.
