Chapter 22 - A Lost Cause (2)

Kodak stands up, his body weak from Fūshuku's ruthless and petty backstabbing. "(If I get my hands on the piece of shit, I will kill him!)"

A ring from the system then entered Kodak's ears as a bright blue screen popped up, showing another message from the system.

[Want to access advanced revenant techniques? Y/N]

Kodak swept his hand across the blue screen, telling the system. "Later, I'm not finished with mastering these current abilities."

The system then responds to Kodak's answer, confirming his decision to do what he wanted rather than what he needed to do.

[Understood, saving advanced techniques for another time.]

The message then fades away, leaving Kodak with nothing but his thoughts. "(Just cause I've gotten new skills doesn't justify lazing around, I need strength.)" Kodak's eyes then flashed a purple hue as the power of kinetic energy surged through his body. He sat down in a meditation position, coursing the kinetic energy all through his two revenant cores.

[You are entering a meditation state, skills are leveling up!]

As Kodak courses the revenant through his body, he feels a strong pulsing. A wave of power washes over him. He needs to test out this strength, but not in the basement.

A voice could be heard from within his mental domain, it was Kiko. "Come, Kodak. Show me your strength."

[Entering your mental Domain!]

Kodak closes his eyes and opens them again to find himself in the dark domain again. Kiko's voice then calls out to him. "Looks like you're ready for the training to commence." He turns around and looks over to see her lying on a bed with an unconscious Kuroi.

He looks around the domain, wondering if Fūshuku is in the mental domain within his mind. "Looks like you decorated the place while I was gone, Kiko."

She smirks at Kodak and stands up from the bed, lunging at him with a blade. Kodak's eyes light up with his revenant, as multiple skills activate.

[Skills: Aura Adapter & Kinetic Energy Formations Activated!]

Kodak's energy echoes through the domain as the clash from Kiko's blade clashes into Kodak's aura-shrouded body. She smirks at the amount of control and output of revenant emanating from him. "Don't you have a weapon?" She asked, wanting more of a challenge. Kodak lightly chuckled at her question, shaking his head. "I can't, the energy from the aura adapter is not stable enough. So for now I'll beat the shit out of you with my bare hands!"

Kodak rushes at Kiko, clashing his fists against the blade she holds tightly. Thoughts then rushed through his mind as she clashed with him. "(She's purposely holding back. Kiko wants me to get stronger from this experience; her control and output of revenant are currently equal to mine, but hers doesn't leak out as much as mine. Is it possible for me to condense and reinforce that control of mine?)"

Kodak then parries the blade with his forearm, shifting his body into a crushing blow aimed directly at Kiko's liver. Large gusts of wind pressure burst from the attack, as dust begins to cloud both their visions.

Kodak then charges up kinetic energy from the blow, swiping his hand through the dust cloud. "(Not even Kiko would be unaffected by that attack. Liver shots take down the strongest of fighters.)"

The wind from Kodak's swiping motion with kinetic energy cleared the dust cloud, but to his surprise, Kiko was relatively unharmed. The shock was instilled on his face. "What, how are you fine?! I struck you on your liver. No one could just shake that off!"

Kiko smirks and rushes at blinding speeds, slashing at Kodak. "Use the Kawanari battle arts with the kinetic energy formations."

Kodak looked at Kiko, confused by her request. "I have, what do you mean?!" She suddenly responded quickly to Kodak's yelling, "No, you haven't. You're scared of your strength, so much so that you have been using the martial arts that your father taught you not to kill someone. If you can't even use the first form of kinetic energy formation, are you even worth training?"

Kodak's eyes widen in anger and determination as he blocks the blade slashing across his skin, "Fine then, just don't say I didn't warn you." Kiko scoffs at him, slightly underestimating the opponent in front of her.

[Destructive battle arts got stronger! 40% --> 60%]

Kodak ignored the message, while Kiko just stared at what the system had just told Kodak.

Memories then entered Kodak's mind, one of his father, Shiro Kawanari. A younger version of himself is knocked down by his father.

Shiro kneels, trying to help Kodak onto his feet. "It's okay, son, but know that one day when you can use the Kawanari battle arts instead of restrained arts. You'll see why I had to control and restrain your strength."

The younger Kodak gritted his teeth in anger. "I don't wanna be restrained! I want to be free with my strength and my own will!" He said, screaming at Shiro. "I power so immense that no one I love can be hurt ever again!"

Shiro looks at him with a look, not of a martial artist but of a loving father. "You will Kodak. You will protect those you truly love and cherish."

The memory then ends as Kodak feels a burst of strength wash over his body. "You wanted to see it?" He asked Kiko, "Well, here it is!"

The dark domain around them then began to grow rapidly in size, getting stronger and bigger with every second passing.

Kiko used the appraisal skill, scanning the entire domain that they stood in.

[Scan complete!]

[Revenant Domain: High A-Rank!]

Kiko smirks at the message and then back at Kodak, watching as he reads a message from the system as well.

[1st Formation of Kinetic Energy Formations Unlocked!]

[Skill acquired: Burst and Charge Impact!]

Kodak turns around and faces Kiko, his eyes contended on not holding back. "I'm done. Done with my weaknesses."

Kiko grips her blade and begins taunting him to come fight her. "Well, are you gonna stand all day or come at me?!"

Kodak suddenly disappears from her line of sight, running along the 10-mile-wide dome of the domain.

[Burst and charge impact is powering up!]

Sparks of purple burst from Kodak's body and gather around his body, as he speeds even faster.

[Charging is complete!]

Kodak's eyes then lock onto Kiko. The purple glow from the kinetic energy entered his body, enhancing the speed he was running. Until he jumped from the dome and launched at Kiko with a roar of determination, yelling through his voice.

[Burst and Charge Impact Activated!]

Kiko looks around the domain, trying to find where Kodak has gone. "(If this were Kuroi, he would've found him already.")

Suddenly, a burst of energy charged up from behind Kiko, roughly a few miles away from her. But regardless, she could sense Kodak now.

"Damn, guess Kuroi wasn't lying when a Kawanari is unpredictable. This guy even increased his current power, control, and manipulation of his revenant."

A nervous sweat drop then dropped from Kiko's face, as a sense of danger entered her mind. "(Looks like he just keeps on destroying the expectations I place on him.)"

Kodak's roar then echoed through the domain as he got closer and closer towards Kiko. The rippling sound of kinetic energy echoed within his body.

Kiko turned around, attempting to block the strike Kodak had planned. "(Here he comes.)"

The energy rippled outwards, as Kodak smashed completely through the blade Kiko used to block. Sparks exploded throughout the domain as Kiko looked at her blade. The shattered blade was destroyed, and not even a single piece was left.

Kiko then thought to herself about a weird feeling her body had from the attack Kodak unleashed, "(There's that feeling again, he struck me and hit my source of revenant. Thus, lowering the output of the defense I was previously using.)" She then stood up and smirked. "Looks like you're turning up a notch, finally-"

Her voice was then cut off, and a fist crashed into her jaw, sending her spiraling backwards. Kodak then rushed at her again, screaming with rage. "I'm not done!"

Kiko wiped the faint drop of blood from her jaw, shaking her head. "All that for a drop of blood."

Kodak ignores her banter and starts speeding up once more, delivering a quick strike to the face, liver, and even her ribs.

Kiko digs her feet into the ground and flies into the air, activating wingless flight. Kodak speeds behind her, only to get grabbed out of the air by her. "Yes!" Her voice echoed through the domain with a calm excitement. "This is how you should fight. This is how you can protect those you love!"

Kodak brings down a hammer fist, releasing the grip on Kiko. "GRAH!" A groan of exertion left his voice as he slammed his open palms into her ears. She stumbles down from being discombobulated, and her control over her flying skill starts to drop as Kodak rushes at her in the stunned state she is in. He then delivers a kick aimed directly at her head, her body slowly descends to the ground of the dark domain.

Kodak rushes down, shifting his body for another punch aimed at Kiko's face.

[Skill: Bodily Shockwave and Kinetic Energy Formations are resonating!]

Kodak smirks at the message and attempts to combine the two skills he has been trying to do all this time. "(I'll see if bodily shockwave and the kinetic energy formation techniques will work.)"

Kodak then gets kicked by Kiko directly in the face, knocking Kodak back. "Gugh!' He yelped in pain. Kio then grabs him by his jacket and throws him straight to the ground beneath them.

A loud sound erupts from the impact, as the dust settles from the crash landing, Kodak crawls out with blood dripping down his face and falls to the ground. "(Fuck, she's strong as hell.)"

But he refused. Not wanting to give up in this fight. He begins to stand up weakly with blood trickling from his battered face. "Come on, just find the strength to move!"

A message then system then warned him.

[Warning! You're 90% fatigued!]

Kodak scoffed at the message and stood up with his legs still shaking from the damage he had taken.

Ashiro and Sastujin look outside the windows, seeing fire spread across the streets of their previously calm and peaceful neighborhood. A loud banging could be heard from the door, and it was not just one person; it felt like multiple people.

Ashiro felt a rush from within his body as he saw a blue-lit screen pop up in front of him, similar to a video game or one of those system mangas he reads.

[System has awakened!]

[Welcome, Ashiro Tensai!]

Title: Beginner Revenant User

Strength: 1K

Speed: 1.5K

Revenant Output: 800

Revenant Efficiency: 600

Revenant Pool: 380

Rank: High C

Skills: Elemental Aura, Elemental Discharge.

Innate Technique: Elemental Formations.

Ashiro looked at the message, confused, but he knew he couldn't hesitate as the loud sound of a door breaking echoed into the house.

A creature similar to a human, but more deformed and twisted in terms of its presence and appearance.

Ashiro took a deep breath before hearing a voice in his head, "Ashiro, use your technique." He jumped from the voice in his head, questioning it. "The hell are you doing in my head!?"

Multiple feelings then surged through Ashiro as Godai smiled within the same place where he had talked with Ashiro first. The beautiful land was filled with lush greenery and mountains. "Calm down, it's me, Godai. I can't explain right now, given your situation, so I'll bring you up to speed."

Ashiro frowned in confusion, 'What do you mean- GAH!" Multiple memories flashed within his mind, and he felt something forming in his body. A ring from the system then entered his ears.

[Revenant cores are forming!]

Ashiro groaned on the ground in pain, holding his whole body from the intense feeling going on in his body.

Satsujin turned around, looking at the twisted monster in front of his son. "ASHIRO!"

[Unable to access Revenant!]

Satsujin looked at the message and ignored it, throwing a punch at the stomach of the twisted creature. "STAY AWAY FROM MY SON!"

A loud crash echoed through the house as the creature swatted Sastujin aside and into a wall. "Gah!" Debris from the wall scattered across the living room as blood trickled down the back of his head.

Satsujin was launched into the far wall behind him as he watched the creature preparing to kill his son. Thoughts of regret and the need to apologize properly echoed in his mind. "(I CAN'T LET HIM DIE! NOT LIKE THIS!)"

Satsujin then saw an astral projection of Jashi appear before his very eyes. His voice called out, mocking him: "You're still too weak. Just let me take over and save you both, plus this revenant spirit is not that strong."

Satsujin gritted his teeth in anger, he refused help from Jashi. "I-I-I refuse!" He said, clenching his jaw in anger at his weakness. "I want to save my son with my life! With my strength, not by some nobody who's an oldhead past his prime!"

Jashi curses at Satsujin, disappearing into the mindscape. He walks around the mindscape, slamming his fist straight into the ground in anger and disappointment. "You will fucking regret that!"

Satsujin dragged himself out of the broken wall, the creature that had launched him into. Blood stained the back of his white shirt, flowing down onto the wooden floor of his home. "NO, DON'T!" He screamed at the revenant spirit, desperation in his tone of voice, cracked with the feeling that something was stirring up within himself.

He saw the creature pick up Ashiro, trying to what looked like to eat him with the sharp teeth and wicked jaw it had. He extended his hand as he weakly limped over to strike the monster, but it was useless as the revenant spirit mocked him, laughing at the pathetic state of Satsujin. He punched the creature again, but something was different; he felt stronger and more motivated to kill the creature. "STAY...THE...FUCK BACK!" His struggling voice became more aggressive and violent towards the monster.

A ring then enters his ears, almost like one from a video game, time then feels like it slows down, and he sees a message pop up from his eyes.

[You have achieved something only a few have!]

[You have entered the system without an avatar!]

Satsujin felt something erupt within himself, a newfound strength he didn't know he had inside himself.

Title: Beginner Revenant User

Name: Satsujin Tensai

Strength: 800

Speed: 550

Revenant Output: 500

Revenant Efficiency: 450

Revenant Pool: 100

Rank: D

Skills: None

Innate techniques: None

Satsujin punches the revenant spirit once more, but this time he sends it flying back through the door. "YOU DARE TO ATTACK MY SON!?"

The anger emanating from Satsujin sent chills down the spine of the twisted creature, almost like Satsujin was the monster.

The creature unfurled a tangle of dark, leathery wings, soaring into the dark sky as an expression of raw terror twisted its grotesque features.

Once it was far enough in the air, the creature spoke in a creepy, dark voice that reflected its appearance.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! " The panicked voice was clear to tell that it feared the current Satsujin. "NO HUMAN CAN BE THAT STRONG!?"

Satsujin yelled as the creature flew into the dark sky. "COME BACK, YOU COWARD!" He then bent his legs, pressing into the ground below him. Cracks formed along the asphalt as Satsujin felt revenant coursing through the muscles in his legs.

Another from the system then appeared in his eyes.

[New Skill Unlocked: Blitzing Impact!]

Satsujin smiled at the message as the ground cracked even further. His legs then burst upwards, launching him toward the creature's direction. The twisted monster then felt a strange presence behind them, like another creature even more cruel and monstrous than itself.

Satsujin flew through the air, seeing the revenant spirit that tried to harm his son.

"GET BACK HERE!" His voice echoed through the sky as the revenant spirit looked back at him with fear instilled in its face. Its jaw then opened, showing the sharp teeth in its mouth. A deep, terrifying roar from the revenant spirit erupted towards Satsujin as its creepy voice spoke once more. "WHY DON'T YOU JUST STAY AWAY!"

The revenant spirit flew towards the oncoming Satsujin, ready to attack. Their fists clashed with one another, as their revenant struggled to take over each other's attacks.

A message then popped up from Satsujin's point of view, a notification from the system.

[Energy from your revenant has been depleted!]

[You can't use skills for a short duration until you rest!]

Satsujin then felt the strong energy from his body begin to fall short, as the revenant spirit overpowered him, sending him crashing toward the ground.

A loud sound from the crash landing caused a massive crater from the impact. Satsujin slowly opened his eyes as blood trickled down the side of his face. His vision flickered on and off as he struggled to keep himself from going unconscious. "Dammit, I have to move that bastard's coming for me."

Satsujin tried moving, but his body just shook in pain as a response to him trying to crawl from the crater.

The revenant spirit then looked from above, smiling at the defenseless Satsujin. "LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE JUST AS USELESS AS THE BOY!" The atmosphere became dense around them as the creature lunged through the air, and a twisted smile started to grow across its face.

Satsujin struggled even more, cursing at himself. "COME ON YOU MOTHERFUCKER MOVE!" The creature edged closer with every passing moment, and the ground then began to shake from his fast descent towards Satsujin.

He looked behind himself, seeing the twisted revenant spirit. He then closed his eyes, ready for the painful death that awaited him.

But the attack never came; in fact, he felt a warm presence in front of him as the revenant spirit cursed in anger. "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY!" He could feel the anger emanating from his protector's revenant.

Satsujin then looked at what had just saved him, seeing his son Ashiro clutching the fist that the revenant spirit aimed towards Satsujin. "Get away from my father!"

[Innate technique: Elemental Formations Activated!]

[Elemental Formation: Fire has been selected!]

Orange-red flames surrounded Ashiro's body as the revenant spirit screamed in pain from the fire. "LET GO YOU DAMN BRAT!" But his cries weren't answered as Ashiro snapped the arm of the creature. Dark-colored blood sprayed from the creature's wounds as it shrieked in pain. "AAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

[1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated!]

Ashiro charged his body with fire, kicking the creature in the face multiple times. "STAY!" The creature flew back a couple of tens of feet, trying not to fall over. But it didn't have time as Ashiro ran at it, punching it in the gut, causing it to cough up blood from its ugly mouth, flames burst from the impact as the ground cracked beneath them. "AWAY!" [1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated!]

He yelled as he brutally broke a leg off the creature. [ 1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated!] "FROM!" Another punch struck the creature, and Ashiro screamed even louder at the revenant spirit. [1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated!] "MY!" Flames from Ashiro's body become more furious as he strikes the creature, yelling once more. "FAMILY! [1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated Strongly!] The ground breaks violently from Ashiro's final punch, and flames burn fiercely from the final blow, as the top half of the creature explodes from the impact. Organs and intestines burst from its body as the dark-colored blood fell from the sky, painting the ground a dark shade of blood.

Ashiro fell to his knees and began to breathe heavily from what he had just done. He then looked at his blood-covered hands. His breathing became faster as his breath became short, and he began to hyperventilate. Thoughts of him being a murderer echoed through his mind."(I just killed something, it was deserving. But it used to be human! I'm nothing but a murderer!)"

A hand then touched his shoulder as he held his head in pain. "Son, calm down. I'm here for you, Ashiro. Just focus on me and breathe." He turned around, seeing the blood dripping from Satsujin's face. "Dad!" He hugged his father tightly, happy that he was okay. "You're okay!" Satsujin winced a bit in pain, "Ow!" he yelped in pain. "Careful of my ribs or you're gonna put me in a coma." He said in a joking tone. Ashiro chuckled at his father before a thought struck his mind and caused him to rush back into the house. "KODAK!"

Kiko sat on the ground wiping sweat from her face, "You know, for someone who is supposed to pass out and almost gave up like 5 times. You sure put up quite a fight. You're like a honey badger, never letting up." She said while sitting on his back, mocking his efforts. Kodak frowned in frustration at Kiko. "I-I-I'M NOT... DONE!" He said while struggling to get up.

A notification from the system then popped up.

[Your revenant is depleted. Any further attempts to use it will drain you of your lifeforce!]

Kodak groaned in annoyance as his head dropped to the ground, tired. But before he could rest, he asked Kiko a question. "Could you heal me? I can keep fighting!" The burning determination was coursing through his dark purple eyes. Kiko's spine shivered a bit from the stare and revenant that he gathered from the domain they were in. She smiled and stood up, getting off Kodak's back. He stood, stretching his back and cracking his knuckles. "Bout time you hopped off, you're heavier than you look," Kodak said while groaning in pain from stretching his limbs.

[Revenant has been refreshed by 100 percent!]

[Training with Kiko has evolved you as a Revenant User!]

[Your new title is: Intermediate Revenant User!]

[Title side effect: Proficiency and output are increased by 20%]

Kodak looked at the messages, they had his attention in a chokehold. More messages appeared, grabbing his attention even further.

[New skills acquired and combined!]

[Information revealed about Kinetic Energy Formations!]

Kodak's eyes widened in anticipation at the message. "(Information revealed!? This could tell me how to progress it and even unlock the other formations!)"

[1st Formation: Charge and Burst Impact,

A technique that unleashes 1000 points of kinetic energy into a single attack.]

[2nd Formation: Kinetic Wave Burst, a highly concentrated energy blast that uses 100 points of stored-up kinetic energy.]

[Formations 3 through 10 around restricted from the user!]

Kodak's eyes twitched in anger at the message, punching the ground in anger. "YOU USELESS SYSTEM!"

Kiko chuckled at Kodak's anger, before warning him of his anger towards it. "Careful now, the system is what is responsible for your powers."

Kodak then heard a message from his left.

[The system is calling you a meanie head] :(

Kodak scratches his head in regret, "Sorry bout that. My bad system."

[Other formations can not be unlocked unless achieved through battles and training with an avatar!]

Kodak smirked at the message before sensing a menacing presence behind him, causing him to put up his hands in response to the amount of bloodlust he was feeling. He turned around to see Kiko's aura emanating with anger directed towards him.

Kiko's neck burst with veins from her jawline, anger present in her voice as she mouthed off to Kodak. "And just so I don't have to tell you again, I'm not heavy!"

[Avatar Kiko used Skill: Radial Destruction!]

Sparks of dark energy shoot out from Kiko's body as Kodak falls to the floor, with his face planted onto the dark ground of the domain. A rush of a similar crushing feeling that Kuroi gave off when he was using a basic version of radial aura runs through Kodak's mind. "(Her aura is a way more advanced skill than a basic version of the technique. But Kuroi is vastly stronger, hell, I couldn't even move when he used the basic radial aura. But unlike Kuroi's, I can move through this easier!)"

[Skill: Aura Adapter Activated!]

Kodak began to rise through the crushing skill Kiko was using on him, smirking at his adaptive combat skills.

[Two Auras selected: Martial and Radial!]

He looked at the message with anticipation, "(If this goes according to what I want, then I can unlock new auras on the fly!)"

[New aura will be created: Menacing Aura!]

Kodak smirked at the message and felt a new form of power rushing through his body. A new amount of confidence plastered over his face as he waved his hand at Kiko to come fight him.

[New skill for innate technique: Aura Adapter!]

[Skill: Menacing Aura, a combination of allows the user to use both applications of radial aura and martial aura. The result ends up being someone being crushed by an amplified version of gravity while dealing with the strength of a reinforcement of martial aura.]

Kiko slammed her foot into the ground, smashing it underneath her foot, and launching herself at Kodak at blinding speeds. The two auras clashed with one another, but before the fight could do anything, Kodak felt his body being shaken.

Kiko looked at Kodak and smirked, "Go, your friends need you." He looked at her, confused, "Wait, why?"

"Cause the entirety of Japan has awakened revenant, along with the rest of the world. Making it everyone for themselves." Kiko's voice was filled with a serious tone. Kodak could tell she wasn't messing around. "Alright, then I'll do what I can to make it through this!"

Kiko grabbed his hand while yelling, "Wait!" She suddenly got hold of his wrist. "You know, if you do this. You might face unspeakable things, betrayal, death, and the changed outcome of those you love."

Kodak nodded and closed his eyes, waking up back in the real world. He saw Ashiro's panicked face and Satsujin shaking him. "WAKE UP, KODAK!"

He rises from the basement floor as he sees multiple revenant spirits in front of him. Two of them looked like humans, the only difference being they had a contorted, twisted body with 4 beady red eyes. While the others had a body resembling rocky skin. The final one had a tail similar to a scorpion but still somewhat humanoid.

Kodak then activated multiple skills to try and gauge the strength of his opponent, not wanting to underestimate them.

[Skill: Appraisal and Revenant Radar Activated strongly!]

[New Skill created: Combat Sense!]

[Skill: Combat Sense, a technique that senses both things that don't and do have revenant, and shows the power level of the enemy. It also gives the user a sixth for when sensing danger around them.]

Kodak looks at the message and smirks as the system shows him what his skill has revealed.

[5 Revenant spirits are emanating bloodlust towards!]

Kodak swiped the message aside, commanding the system to show him the rank of the creatures. "Just show me the damn rank already!"

[2 C-Rank Spider Spirits, 2 B-Rank Rock Spirits, and 1 Low A-Rank Humanoid Scorpion Spirit were detected!]

Kodak scoffed at the creatures, a sense of overwhelming confidence etched across his face as we walked up with the Skill: Aura Adapter. "This might be a little difficult, but regardless, they're just mindless!"

[Skill: Aura Adapter Activated!]

[Martial Aura selected!]

Revenant spread across Kodak's body as he felt the rush of power coursing through him, amplifying his power and speed drastically. He then felt an absurd amount of bloodlust behind him.

[Skill: Combat Sense has detected a threat!]

Kodak then instinctively shifted his body behind him, kicking a revenant spirit to the ground. The creature had dark skin and wore a black robe that covered its face and limbs, but despite its creepy appearance, Kodak didn't care and slammed his fist straight into its face. A small crater no bigger than his fist appears from the impact as blood from the creature explodes everywhere, getting all over Kodak's body.

He then senses the other revenant spirits rushing at him with the Skill: Combat Sense. He then leaps into the air, dodging the attack from the spider-like revenant spirits. Ashiro rushed at the creature, leaping into the air and kicking the revenant spirit in the face with flames surrounding his body.

[1st Formation: Fiery Fury Activated Strongly!]

Flames burst from Ashiro's leg as the revenant spirit flies into the rocky walls of the massive basement. The loud sound from the impact echoes as it falls, dead. Kodak looks back at Ashiro, smirking at him. "Just try and keep up. After all, you both were protecting me from them harming my body."

Ashiro smirks, and the flames around his body burn even brighter, as confidence spreads across his face. "What, did you think I'd let you have all the fun?"

Kodak smirks, but both of them sense something behind him, a feeling of danger crawling on his back. The humanoid scorpion swipes at Kodak with its large tail. "(SHIT!)" The attack knocks him back, sending him flying through the wall of the basement, into a cave below them.

The humanoid scorpion then aimed at Ashiro, but he was too quick and counterattacked with a swift leg kick aimed just above the knee of his opponent, making it kneel. "Gonna have to try harder, you bastard!"

Ashiro then threw a punch at the downed creature, flames burning along his fist brightly. His fist was then caught by the creature. A wicked voice then spoke from the scorpion. "Too weak." Ashiro looked at the creature, confused, "What the hell?!" He then heard a groan from Satsujin as he was backed into a corner by the two rock-like revenant spirits. "Gah!" A stone fist collided straight to his stomach, sending him to his knees. Ashiro's eyes widened in fear from the attack his father had just taken. "(He still hasn't fully recovered from the previous fight?!)"

"DAD!" Ashiro rushed over to try to fend off the rock beasts, but his flames didn't even affect them slightly. "Why didn't the flames stop them!?" But before he could attempt to harm the creatures, the humanoid scorpion grabbed Ashiro by the throat and dragged him through the stone floor. Rubble and debris flew all around the room as Ashiro was then picked up and slammed into the floor violently, blood coughed up from his mouth as he felt a sharp pain shoot through his entire back. "Kuek!" The scorpion then lifted its tail as a stinger appeared from its tail, and it then spoke a single word. "Die."

Ashiro then lifted his hands and smirked at it. "You're the one that's gonna die!"

[Elemental Discharge: Flames Activated!]

Ashiro's hands light up with an orange-red glow, as flames burst from his hands. The humanoid scorpion jumped back, trying to shield itself from the harmful flames. "SHRIIIEEEEKKKK!" A scream from the creature erupted as Ashiro stood up, blasting the flames fiercely and violently towards it. "JUST DIE ALREADY!"

The scorpion then smirked and grabbed Ashiro's hands, slicing them off with its sharp hands. Ashiro screamed in pain as blood dripped from his hands and onto the ground. "GAAAHH!" The scorpion then grabbed Ashiro by the throat and slammed him into the ground as the stinger on its tail lunged at his face. Ashiro puts up his arms ready to block, closing his eyes in anticipation of the painful stab coming his way. But that stab never came as he heard Kodak's voice, "Don't count me out from a single attack, you bastard!"

He looked up as he felt his hands begin to slowly regenerate. "WHAT THE HELL!?" He shot up from the ground and looked as if his hand had completely healed the injury. Godai then spoke into his head, "Revenant users C-Rank and above have a low-level healing factor, while not any better than the healing aspects of agony or repaired will, it still has its benefits."

Ashiro then looked back at Kodak as he squeezed his fist tighter and began crushing the hand of the humanoid scorpion. It then screamed in pain. "GAAAAHHH!" The loud shriek echoed as the rock beasts backed off Satsujin, running at Kodak.

[2nd Formation: Kinetic Wave Burst Activated Strongly!]

A wave of kinetic energy burst forth from the flick of Kodak's wrist as the rocky beasts then fell to the ground, nothing but a pile of dead rubble. Ashiro started laughing at the scorpion as fear was plastered onto its face as it saw the casual death of the rocky beasts. "YOU FUCKED UP ASSHOLE!" Ashiro yelled while flipping off the scorpion with his middle finger.

The humanoid scorpion's face flexed with anger as it tore away from Kodak's grip, trying to lunge at Ashiro. But Kodak quickly raised his hand towards Ashiro as the creature lunged at him.

[Innate technique: Kinetic Energy Activated!]

Ashiro saw the purple-tinted color energy expand around him, essentially shielding him from the vile creature's attack. The humanoid scorpion's eyes looked at the energy shielding Ashiro, but it had no time to react to this as it was grabbed by its legs and thrown into the same cave that Kodak had to climb out of. The creature fell hundreds of feet down, crashing onto the cold and dark floor. A voice then echoed through the cave, a sense of fear struck through the revenant spirit's body, causing it to run around the cave aimlessly to look for an escape. "Looks familiar, right?" The creature looked around frantically as Kodak clung to the walls with his immense grip strength, hiding in the dark, ready to strike down the bastard before him. "After all, this is where you punched me into, it's only fair I kill you in here!"

Kodak launched off the rocky walls of the cave, speeding towards the humanoid scorpion. Muscles in his body tensed as he flew through the air.

[Kinetic energy is charging]

[Skill: Aura Adapter Activated!]

[Menacing Aura Selected!]

The humanoid scorpion then felt the air becoming dense and heavy, weighing it down. Kodak then felt the revenant coursing through his body as he struck the humanoid scorpion at blinding speeds. But he struck it a message from the system, then popped up.

[Kinetic Energy Formations: 3rd formation is 20 Percent Completed!]

His eyes widened at the message in astonishment as he landed another blow while he was still close to the creature. The impact sent it flying back into a rocky wall, stabbing its body into the jagged pillars on both of its shoulders.

[You have 5,000 points of Kinetic Energy!]

Kodak smirked at the message as his eyes lit up the same purple color as the kinetic energy coursing through him right now. "( A third of the way there, not bad.)" The humanoid scorpion was not given any room to breathe as Kodak was already in its face from rushing it down.

[You have gathered another 1000 points of Kinetic Energy!]

[1st Formation: Charge and Burst Impact Activated Strongly!]

Kodak dug his foot and shifted his body, delivering a thrusting kick straight at the chest of the humanoid scorpion. Sparks of kinetic energy explode, tearing away at the terrain around them and destroying the ground beneath them. Blood coughed up from the humanoid scorpion's mouth, and the jagged pillars stabbed even deeper. A pained cry left the mouth of the scorpion as it hung in the air, suspended by the pillars. Kodak flew into the air and got closer to the scorpion. "Man, you look like shit." His tone was mocking and playful, but as he was joking, the scorpion tried stabbing him with the stinger on the end of its long tail.

Kodak scoffed at the attack and grabbed the tail, tearing it off the creature as it fell from the blood-stained pillars it was suspended by. Crashing onto the floor with a thud, echoing throughout the cave. The scorpion crawled weakly on the floor as Kodak rushed the scorpion, with kinetic energy surging through his body. The creature turned around, putting its arms up to block the oncoming attacks. "Get away from me!" Its voice was panicked and nervous for the beating that Kodak had prepared for it.

He threw a fast jab at the creature, causing it to block with its left arm. The creature then felt the bones in its arm shatter with a scream following the intense pain engulfing its arm. But Kodak didn't care about the fact that the creature was in pain; all he cared about was tearing off that tail and beating them to death with their precious weapon. The scorpion backed away with fear instilled in that ugly face. Kodak then delivered a powerful kick straight to the face, knocking out a couple of teeth, as blood vomits from its mouth. Kodak then shifted his weight and threw another kick with his left. "Try not to die on me." A cold and empty tone that reflected the brutal beatdown he was about to unleash.

Kodak struck his fist at the solar plexus of the creature, its body began to shut down as the humanoid scorpion was now temporarily paralyzed, and at the mercy of Kodak. Their breathing becomes short, and their lungs begin to fill with blood as terror fills their mind about the opponent in front of them.

Kodak smirks with a twisted look on his face, "Is that it? I am sad for how pathetic you are, man!" Kodak mocks playfully as he then drives the severed tail into the liver of the creature, ribs break from the stab, as the scorpion falls on his back. "Please… stop… I'm… sorry." Blood coughed up from his mouth as he began to speak. Kodak's eyes pierced into the creature, filled with rage as his anger-induced voice spoke. "My friend was almost killed by you, and your rock buddies decided it would be cool to beat up on a loving father who wanted to protect his lone child, so tell me who's really in the wrong!"

The creature didn't answer, leaving a look of fear towards Kodak as his voice barely spoke to him. "J-just… K-kill… Me-" [1st Formation: Charge and Burst Impact Activated Strongly!]

Kodak interrupted its struggling voice and punched the creature, more teeth fell out as blood covered the ground of the dark and wet cave. His anger amplified as more punches landed, shaking the cave and the basement above him. More blood painted the floor red. Kodak then got off the corpse of the creature, his hands drenched in blood, as he flew out of the cave and into the basement. Ashiro and Satsujin watched Kodak slowly rise from the cave and into the basement, seeing the dark blood that stained his fists. Ashiro spoke first to Kodak. "Is he dead?"

"Yes." The cold voice was unlike anything Ashiro had heard from Kodak before. He used to be gentle, but now he was ruthless, that much he could tell about the current Kodak Kawanari. But he also hated killing.

Satsujin spoke his question: "Is this what the world is going to be now? Useless bloodshed for our benefit?"

Kodak didn't know; he couldn't confirm what to do, but there was one thing he knew was certain. "We need to find the others, and if anyone gets in our way." Kodak hesitated for a moment, but deep down, he knew what needed to be said. "We kill them."

Ashiro's eyes widened at the answer Kodak gave. "(He's changing. Becoming more like a traditional Kawanari, a ruthless fighter who stands for his own ideals and kills whoever challenges that.)"

Satsujin's face became horrified at what Kodak was changing into. What new behaviors and actions would he adopt for himself?

"You know he's right, Satsujin," Jashi spoke into his head as he rushed out of the basement through Kodak's room and into his bedroom. "What the fuck are you doing Jashi!" Satsujin angrily snapped at him, with anger seething in his eyes. "Kodak could've sensed you talking with me, hell, Ashiro probably sensed it!" Satsujin flailed his arms around, being overly dramatic for the most part, or that's what Jashi thought right now.

"Calm down, drama queen. Those fools aren't at a high enough level to sense the telepathy technique. So just relax, I want to renegotiate our deal from before." The calm, yet mockful tone from Jashi was annoying but Satsujin decided that it was best take care of the deal before anything else shitty could happen."

Haruka Household 10:00 PM... After the fight between Fumiko and Kodak

Fumiko flew through the sky, finding the house she was staying in. She descended from the sky, landing on the front lawn of the house. Thoughts raced through her mind of the fight against Kodak. "(Not only did he not even consider my side, but he said I didn't stand a chance against him.)" Fumiko clenched her fist in anger as she entered the house, met by her younger sister Charlotte and her friend Akari. "Hey Fumiko, are you okay?" Akari's face was plastered with a worried look as Charlotte hugged her sister tightly.

"I don't know, Akari. That fight didn't hurt either of us, but he looked hurt from what I blamed Satsujin for." Fumiko's response was filled with sorrow for Kodak, but she couldn't help but think she was at fault. "Was I the one at fault?"

Akari rushed towards Fumiko, hugging her and trying to reassure Fumiko as they embraced one another. "You both were confused and struggling with comprehending the situation of Atsuo's death. But while you saw a dark part of Satsujin and the anger he had harbored towards the group. Kodak has only known him to be a kind and loving father figure." Her tone with Fumiko was reassuring and supportive, showing that she didn't blame either of them for the huge fight that broke out. "But I do have one more question."

"And what is that?"

"Will you teach me how to use revenant?" Akari gleamed with anticipation as Fumiko looked at her slightly annoyed. "You haven't unlocked it yet!" She quickly responded, shutting down her joyous look over the question. "You're always such a buzzkill, Fumiko." Akari teased playfully, but Fumiko ignored her and walked into the house, going downstairs and entering a large underground area. Akari swiftly followed after her and began to watch Fumiko take a meditation position. "So, what are you training for, Fumiko?"

"Flexible and efficiency with power that can be used in any situation."
