When Rafayel thanked him, Quina blushed slightly and handed him something.
"What's this?" Rafayel asked.
It was a pendant—embarrassingly enough, it had a carving of the goddess's image on it.
"It's a charm. Keep it on you," Quina said.
"But isn't this something important to you…?"
"Just give it back tomorrow. That's all."
"Ah, but…" Rafayel started to protest, but Quina quickly left the room without letting him finish.
Ahh… but he went out of his way to lend it to me. I'll treasure it.
He tucked the pendant carefully into the inside pocket of his coat.
The next day, Rafayel wasted no time in sharing the plan he'd come up with the night before with Khazan.
"We'll go in pretending we're interested in purchasing the property. That should get us invited into a meeting room or reception office. From there, we'll find a way to look at their ledgers or records and uncover the evidence we need."
