The car carrying Lucas and Haisley finally came to a halt in front of the hospital's emergency room. Within seconds, the car door swung open, and nurses rushed over with a stretcher. Without waiting for instruction, Lucas immediately lifted his blood-soaked wife onto it.
The blood came from Haisley's side—just beneath her ribcage, where the sharp knife had struck earlier. It wasn't Lucas who got stabbed, but Haisley, who had instinctively shielded and embraced him. The blade had entered at an angle, piercing the soft, vital part of her body. Though still conscious, Haisley's face had begun to pale from the severe blood loss.
"Quick! She's still conscious, but the bleeding is bad!" Lucas shouted to the medical staff, gripping Haisley's hand tightly. "Please, help her… Help my wife…"
The stretcher was immediately pushed inside. Lucas ran alongside it until they reached the ER entrance, but a nurse stepped in his way. "I'm sorry, sir, you can't go in."
