I picked up my phone for probably the one hundredth time this week. The screen stayed blank for most of the day and when it did switch on to show a notification it wasn't from the person I wanted it to be from.
This had been my routine ever since I had come back from the defeat of losing against Edwards team. I wasn't even bothered by that. We had both played a good game. It's just… he never answered my calls after the game or even the next day.
He didn't gloat about it when we shook hands. He didn't even give me his award winning smile at the end of the game. He just seemed placid and disinterested. I figured because the game had been rough but I hoped he would at least talk to me afterwards.
I thought it was because he was celebrating at first but after the second day I got the message. When I tried to send him a message it showed 'read' and at one point it seemed he didn't even bother to read it. I didn't understand why.
