Alaric knew she was teasing him on purpose, and just like that, his frustration melted away.
With a faint smile, he reached out and gently tapped the tip of her nose. "Teacher Greene, you're getting more and more mischievous."
Emerald clung to his arm and shook it playfully, her voice sweet and coaxing. "I learned from my brother. You never teased me like this before. By the way, you showed up awfully early today… Were you afraid I'd be caught cheating or something?"
Alaric's face heated up instantly. Thank God it was dark—at least no one could see his embarrassment.
The high-level meeting had originally been scheduled for two hours, but he'd wrapped it up in just thirty minutes. Why? Because he couldn't shake the feeling that his Teacher Greene might be stolen away if he wasn't careful.
After all, it had taken him so long to bring Emerald back home—he wasn't about to let her go now.
