After we finished dinner, Grandma insisted that Jungwoo should accompany me. I knew what she was hoping for, but it was never going to happen.
Oh! About Donghae — he got 25 years in prison, so don't worry about him.
Days passed since the dinner, and PC was holding a banquet to celebrate its anniversary. Of course, YM was invited, meaning I had to be there as the CEO.
Before I could even get in, Madam Park — or Grandma — pulled me aside and offered me my favorite chocolate from abroad. I thought she was just doing it on the side because she knew my big brother would never let me have some, so I paid no mind.
The banquet started. Madam Park and Jungwoo delivered speeches. Later, she offered both me and Jungwoo drinks. He gulped his down in one go, but before I could drink mine, I started feeling dizzy.
She asked Jungwoo to take me to one of the hotel rooms to rest.
When we got there, I started to feel hot, as if the AC was broken. While I was trying to figure out what was happening, Jungwoo started showing the same symptoms.
It became clear what was happening, but what he had was stronger than mine. At the rate he was burning, the only cure was sleeping together.
He got out of control and started kissing me. From there, everything went blank.
The next thing I remember, it was morning. My body was sore all over, and my lips were numb.
"Damn! Did I have sex with an animal last night? My body hurts everywhere, but screw that — I better sneak out while I still have a chance."
I snuck out without being seen—or so I thought.
As soon as I got home, I was already all over the news. I was sure Madam Park was behind it.
She asked for our families to meet, and it was then decided that I had to marry Jungwoo—but only after we got to know each other and decided together to go ahead with it.
Well, that was my father's wish after so many years of not seeing him. I was ready to fulfill it, no matter what.
From then on, Jungwoo was kind. He took me on all sorts of dates, and with that, I fell in love with him.
A month later, the grandest wedding was held for us. For the first time, I saw my dad's real smile. He was happy that his daughter finally found true love—or so he thought.
After marriage, Madam Park proposed that we stay in the family house, and we agreed.
We lived happily together, even though they were a bit much sometimes.
But it all came crashing down two months after we got married when the family found out I was three months pregnant with twins.
I was forced to take early maternity leave to be a stay-at-home housewife. Jungwoo started being too busy and sometimes didn't come home.
Four months passed, and I was scared he might be overworking himself. I made sure to send him food every day. One day, I decided to deliver the food myself.
At the reception, I met Haejun's assistant. He thanked me for the food I'd been sending. At first, I was confused, so I asked if Jungwoo was around. He told me Jungwoo had taken leave two days ago.
I made it look like I'd forgotten and said it might be due to the pregnancy and pressure of being a new mother.
As I was about to leave, he asked me to deliver some documents to Jungwoo at "our love nest." That left me confused—we never had a love nest.
But when I saw the address on the document, my heart sank.
I arrived at the house, not knowing the passcode, so I tried his ex-wife's birthday—and the door opened.
Inside, I got the biggest shock of my life.
The house was like a memory holder for the special times they shared. Everything was clean, as if someone had been living there.
There were albums of their most precious memories, while the only picture I had was from our wedding.
My heart shattered. My world fell apart. The ocean of tears that was once empty was now full.
I took a cab home, confused—not knowing whether to cry, scream, or stay quiet.
When I arrived at the Park mansion, I heard noise coming from the study. I went to check.
Just as I was about to knock, I heard them say, "We know you don't love her and only married her for our sake, but please show her some care—she's carrying your flesh and blood."
From that moment, my heart fell into darkness.
Not knowing how to cope, I pushed the door open.
"So you all knew and played me dumb? You knew he was busy crying for another woman while I was here, unable to sleep, scared he'd work himself to death? You played with my feelings just to satisfy yourselves."
I walked out, went to our room, packed my clothes into a suitcase, grabbed my car keys, and left.
Just as I pulled the bag down the stairs and was about to leave, Jungwoo stopped me.
"Hana, please! I know you're hurt, but you can't leave like this. It's too dangerous for you to drive."
If it were before, I'd have given no damn what he said—but now it was different.
"Hana! What's wrong? Why are you crying? And why are you holding a bag?" Jiyeon asked, her face full of worry.
"Hana, please listen to Jungwoo. He really cares about you and the babies," she said.
I laughed while wiping my tears.
"Oh, please, drop the act—it's disgusting. You say he cares about me and the babies? Where was he at all the check-ups? Where was he when my brother had to come all the way at night to get me all the things I was craving? He was busy at his old house, crying over his divorced wife. And now you have the nerve to say he cares about my babies? You all knew he never loved me and decided to make a fool of me. Well, let me tell you something…"
I took off my wedding ring and threw it at him.
"I want a divorce, and I'm leaving this house forever."
Tears flowed down my face.
"Hana, please don't do that. The children need their father to grow up well."
Just hearing those words, I got so infuriated that I couldn't bottle up anything anymore.
"They're fine now without him, so what makes you think we'll need him in the future? I mean, he's just a sperm donor after all."
I left the house, placed my bag in the back seat, and drove off.
As soon as I left, it started pouring. The road became hard to see.
The next thing I heard was a car honking.
I tried to avoid hitting it, lost control, and fell off a cliff.
