Helen POV
I could sense the burning energy trying to blow up in my veins. I attempted to hold it back with shaking hands, but it was becoming more difficult. Everything inside of me has felt shaky ever since Leoric betrayed me, like a volcano about to blow. It was days since I had slept. My talents were already dissolving, and the dreams and memories of that night still plagued me.
I felt afraid.
"Are you okay, Helen?" As she went past, Emily, one of the pack members, inquired.
I forced a smile and nodded fast, but she didn't seem persuaded. I wasn't feeling well. It was visible to all. I could see the whispered conversations and the anxious looks. They feared me.
I'm scared of what I could do.
Perhaps you ought to speak with Scott," Emily said quietly, her eyes brimming with worry.
Speak with Scott. How could I tell him about my training experience? How could I describe the anxiety that was rising inside of me, the worry that perhaps—just possibly—I was losing control?
