"Ah buzz! Ah buzz! Ah buzz!!"
The purple-pink Noibat flapped its wings as it circled around Kyoka's head before gently landing on top of it, leaving Kyoka momentarily stunned.
"Noibat has already stored your image and information in its system, so it completed its identification and binding the moment it saw you," the scientist on the right explained.
"I see…" Kyoka carefully lifted Noibat off her head, her face glowing with happiness as she gazed at it.
Seeing her so delighted, Kaminari couldn't help but feel happy as well. He then turned to the scientists and asked, "So, what functions does Noibat have?"
"It's similar to Pikachu and Vulpix. Aside from basic artificial intelligence functions, it can also emit powerful sound waves and ultrasonic attacks through its oversized ears," Momo explained.
"That's amazing… I want a Pokémon too…" Uraraka said enviously, staring at Noibat.
"Agreed," Asui added, her lips pursed as she glanced between Pikachu, Vulpix, and Noibat.
Tobio, who was holding Kaminari's mother's hand, remained silent, but his expression made it clear that he felt the same way.
"This…" Kaminari turned to Momo helplessly. He wanted to get more, too, but SIS Memory Alloy wasn't something easily obtained.
Just then, Kaminari's father suddenly spoke.
"Alright!"
"Huh?" The younger ones turned to him in confusion.
"It's time to talk about the real reason we're here," Kaminari's father said, exchanging smiles with Dr. Augsger and the other scientists.
"Actually, all of this started with Pikachu. Watching Kaminari enjoy playing with it made me wonder—could we create similar Pokémon pet toys?"
"A few months ago, I reached out to Dr. Augsger, and together, we conceived the Pokémon City project we mentioned earlier."
"This project isn't just about creating Pokémon projections throughout the city, we also want to develop real, physical pet companions that can move, make sounds, and have a degree of intelligence!"
Dr. Augsger continued, "Of course, we can't use SIS Memory Alloy to make them. Cost is a major factor."
"In the end, we decided to use a cost-effective lead-based alloy for the skeletal and mechanical structure, applied metal compression technology, and then covered them with bionic materials to replicate muscles, skin, and fur."
The scientist on the left added excitedly, "This way, they'll look perfect on the outside! Next, we had to make them move naturally, so we programmed them with low-level artificial intelligence."
"While these low-level AI programs aren't as advanced as true artificial intelligence, they allow the Pokémon to act according to pre-set personalities and behavioral patterns."
The scientist on the right, the heaviest of the three, finally couldn't hold back his enthusiasm. "For example, if we input all relevant data about Growlithe, it will behave exactly like a real one!"
"Plus, we've created a variety of personality settings, so even if two people have Growlithe, one might be energetic while the other is lazy!"
Even though Kaminari's father had heard all of this before, hearing it again filled him with excitement—he could already see the overwhelming success this product would have in the future.
"The best part? They don't need food, don't shed, and don't leave behind any waste, making them the perfect pets!"
Kaminari, Momo, Kyoka, Uraraka, and Asui were completely stunned. They stared at the scientists in disbelief, their mouths slightly open.
"It's kind of terrifying that an anime-inspired idea has been taken this far…" Kaminari thought to himself, dumbfounded.
With a team of top-tier scientists and capitalists working together, they could create just about anything.
"But these pet toys won't be able to use actual attack moves like Pikachu, right?" Momo asked.
"That's correct," Kaminari's father affirmed. "Safety is our top priority."
"But the doctors argued that Pokémon wouldn't feel authentic without their signature moves, so they came up with a solution."
"A solution?"
Dr. Augsger nodded proudly. "We decided to use virtual imaging technology to simulate battle effects!"
"In fact, the Pokémon City project was designed specifically for this. We developed a device that can generate an artificial Field."
"Within this Field, artificial intelligence can project realistic virtual images anywhere. You saw the holographic Pokémon outside, right?"
"So that's how it works!" Uraraka exclaimed in realization.
"Exactly! The entirety of I-Island is already covered by this Field, which is what enables Pokémon City to function," the scientist on the left explained.
"When these pet Pokémon are within the Field, they link up with the AI system that controls it."
"For example, if a Charmander-like pet receives an instruction to use Flamethrower, it will make the correct motion, and the AI will project virtual flames from its mouth!"
Kaminari was momentarily stunned, but his mind quickly filled with excitement.
"Wait, so… two Pokémon can actually battle inside the Field!?" he asked.
"Of course!" Dr. Augsger grinned. "We're all huge Pokémon fans—how could we not think of that?"
"During a battle, the AI will generate a real-time battlefield, displaying each Pokémon's level and HP bar above their heads."
"When a Pokémon takes damage, its HP bar decreases. If it's hit by a special effect move, the AI will trigger appropriate reactions—such as dizziness, sleep, pain, or exhaustion."
"And when a Pokémon's HP reaches zero, it will collapse and remain 'fainted' until the battle ends!"
The younger ones—including Tobio, Uraraka, Kyoka, and Kaminari himself, listened with their eyes shining in amazement.
"Of course, for safety reasons, we've designated specific areas where these virtual images won't appear, such as streets and public spaces. Official battle zones will be confined to locations like parks," Kaminari's father added.
"If this really becomes a reality… it'll be paradise!" Kaminari thought, his heart pounding with excitement.
"But that's not all," Dr. Augsger declared. "Our ultimate goal is to extend the Field to cover the entire planet! That way, we can recreate the world of Pokémon!"
Hearing this, Kaminari's expression changed.
"I will protect this beautiful future with everything I have!" he thought fiercely.
"If anyone dares to threaten this world, I'll fight them to the end!"
"And if Pokémon can reach this level, then what about Yu-Gi-Oh!? Digimon?!"
At that moment, he realized he had found the purpose he wanted to dedicate his life to.
If Monkey D. Luffy's belief is freedom, if Uzumaki Naruto's belief is becoming Hokage, and if Kudo Shinichi's belief is seeking truth…
Then Kaminari Denki's belief is protection!
"Protect my parents! Protect Kyoka! Protect this incredible future!"
