Chapter 263 - Chapter 262: A Lesson and Counterattack

Qingming executed not any ordinary jutsu, but the Mystical Palm Technique. Thanks to the intense training he had undergone recently with the Mystical Palm Technique to strengthen his body, he had developed a rather unconventional trick.

This was to concentrate Yang Release chakra in a single burst around the injury site, compressing the entire healing process into a quick action.

Though this technique did use up some chakra and slightly reduced the effectiveness of the healing, it had a notable advantage: it required no additional time or focus to maintain.

Generally, except for a select few medical ninjutsu, most techniques need time to heal injuries. This constraint makes it difficult to self-heal during battle.

But the move Qingming had devised was different; he could use it while fighting, squeezing in a moment to heal his wounds.

Just like now, after pulling back briefly, he quickly activated his modified Mystical Palm Technique.

Instantly, the bleeding on his chest stopped, and the wound began to heal at a decent pace.

As Black River Ichiro had expected, within a few minutes, the wound on his chest would be sufficiently healed. At that point, his strength would return to peak condition.

This was the reason behind Qingming's confidence in trading injuries.

Looking at the five remaining Iwagakure Jonin, this time, Qingming didn't wait for them to take the initiative. Instead, from a distance, he launched his first move with the Wind Release: Great Breakthrough technique!

Though its offensive power was average, it was very effective for disrupting enemy formation.

Even if Black River Ichiro and his comrades were Jonin, they dared not face Qingming's Wind Release: Great Breakthrough head-on, especially since it was fueled by a hefty 2,000 chakra points.

Its attack strength may not be lethal, but if someone got caught in it, it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. After all, who knows what debris or objects might be mixed into that gust? With the relatively weak defenses of these five, it could easily result in serious injury.

Thus, Black River Ichiro and his team didn't risk facing the technique directly; they dodged to the sides.

And this was exactly what Qingming wanted.

Thanks to his Sharingan, Qingming observed their movements closely.

When he noticed that one of them had moved to help the Iwagakure Jonin he had injured with the Rasengan, his eyes brightened, and he immediately ceased maintaining Wind Release: Great Breakthrough.

Swiftly, he darted forward, using Body Flicker Technique to reach the two before the whirlwind dissipated.

Just as Qingming was about to swing his sword, a sudden sense of danger struck him.

Then, he noticed that the face of the Iwagakure Jonin bore a sinister smile, while black markings began to appear on both his body and the surrounding ground.

At a glance, Qingming recognized this trap. These black markings were curse seals imbued with restrictive power.

Even though he was unfamiliar with curse and sealing techniques, he knew from his past life's memories that such things could be formidable tools for overcoming stronger opponents.

Uncertain of the curse's specific effect, Qingming decided not to take chances. In an instant, he shifted away, attempting to exit the area.

As for the opportunity…he would find another one.

To his surprise, however, his Body Flicker Technique seemed to fail.

No, it wasn't the technique that failed—it was that he was immobilized, bound in place.

Seeing Qingming's astonished expression, Oguri Gen Asuka wore a mocking grin.

Lowering the severely wounded Iwagakure Jonin he had been supporting, he sneered, "Did you honestly believe I would make such a foolish error, separating from the others and giving you an opening? Naïve!"

Listening to him, Qingming reflected.

'Indeed, he is a Jonin after all. Though he couldn't withstand my Wind Release: Great Breakthrough, he wouldn't be careless enough to make such a basic mistake.'

'What caused me to overlook this possibility?'

'Was it the series of victories? Or my recently awakened Mangekyo Sharingan?'

Qingming realized that, somewhere along the way, his vigilance had dulled.

This was certainly not a good development. Even a powerhouse like Madara Uchiha had been caught off guard at times. If he couldn't maintain caution, it would be no surprise if he met an untimely end in the future.

Today's encounter served as a wake-up call.

"I can't afford to be this careless again," Qingming warned himself silently.

Seeing Qingming's solemn expression and silence, Oguri Gen Asuka assumed he was frozen with fear at the unexpected change.

Without another word, he seized the moment, lunging forward to thrust his kunai toward Qingming's heart.

But just as the kunai was about to reach him, Qingming suddenly said, "Thank you!"

"What?"

Oguri Gen Asuka was momentarily baffled by this unexpected show of gratitude.

'What's going on? Has he gone mad?'

Oguri Gen Asuka was puzzled, but he didn't pause, pressing the kunai forward until it pierced Qingming's chest.

However, right then, he noticed something strange. The sensation in his hand didn't feel like flesh giving way to the blade, but more as if he had struck thin air with no resistance.

His vision blurred as Qingming's figure vanished without a trace.

"Not good! It's an illusion!" Oguri Gen Asuka's heart raced, and he immediately started searching for Qingming.

In that moment, a familiar voice sounded behind him, "Thanks for the lesson. I'll remember today well."

"What?"

Oguri Gen Asuka's nerves were on high alert as he tried to sidestep.

But it was too late.

Swish!

A short sword emerged from his chest, piercing through his heart.

Oguri Gen Asuka's body froze. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of Qingming's face—and the strange eye that resembled a black sun.

"This…is…"

As the memories of his life flashed before him, Oguri Gen Asuka seemed to realize something. His pupils dilated as he attempted to speak, but no words came out.

Shink!

Qingming withdrew his short sword, and with it, the last traces of life left Oguri Gen Asuka's body.

Watching him collapse, Qingming took a long, steadying breath. His Mangekyo Sharingan receded to its three-tomoe state.

Indeed, he had activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and unleashed his left eye's unique technique—Heaven's Dominion.

With its brief "invincible" state, he had effortlessly broken free from the cursed seal's restraint and closed in behind Oguri Gen Asuka.

Then, with one swift stroke, he had pierced the man's heart.

Clearly, though Heaven's Dominion wasn't an offensive jutsu, when used right, its potential in battle was substantial.

Out of the corner of his eye, Qingming saw the remaining four Iwagakure Jonin approaching rapidly. Without hesitation, he quickly formed seals, unleashing Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique twice in quick succession.

Boom! Boom!

Two massive fireballs engulfed Oguri Gen Asuka's body as well as that of the gravely injured Iwagakure Jonin nearby.

After tying up loose ends, Qingming finally turned to face the four remaining Iwagakure Jonin.
