Sapphire could do nothing but stand frozen as Theodore dragged Aurora away, a gleaming blade pressed cruelly to her neck. Aurora's eyes pleaded silently, wide with helplessness.
"Do not take another step," Sapphire growled, her voice low and trembling with fury.
Theodore smirked, eyes glinting with amusement.
"Try me, and she shall fall lifeless before you can blink. I always suspected there was more to you than met the eye… So, you are the Serpent Chalice?"
His words struck like thunder. Aurora's gaze darted to Sapphire in shock. Sapphire? The Serpent Chalice?
The very thought sent a chill through her. Could it be true?
"She meant to kill you," Theodore went on, tightening his grip on Aurora. "I intervened, not out of malice—but think of this as me sparing your life."
"What nonsense do you speak?" Aurora hissed, twisting her head to glare at him.
Sapphire's eyes, once aflame, dimmed. She lowered her gaze, shame clouding her face.
