"Talking"

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Welcome to Class-S, kid," A voice said lazily to Gray. The voice in question belonged to a familiar-looking man - not all that familiar, but familiar enough that Gray recognized him.

[Humble] Renso:

[Saiyan S-Class Instructor]

Age: 47

PL: 5.7 Billion

HP: 3,275,680/3,275,680

TKI: 1,789,200/1,789,200

[Humble] Modifier - Individuals with this modifier will be naturally humble, downplaying their own strength and achievements.

A high power level, a ton of HP, but not much Ki. He's a physical fighter.

Despite having a higher power level than Gray, the man's total Ki was still a fair bit lower.

He had a square head with a strong jaw, which was shaped by a goatee and short black hair. His body was muscular and broad, and the man was also more tan than most Saiyans Gray had seen. He was wearing the typical Saiyan armor,

Can you even sunbathe on Planet Vegeta?

Planet Vegeta didn't have a 'sun' in the same way Earth did, though it did have two giant bright stars that circled the planet. They weren't yellow, but they were kind of like bigger suns. Though Gray had never tried tanning under them, as he never really had a good time to try, nor the drive to.

Renso being here confirmed to Gray that Kale wasn't just a fluke - something had changed in the universe. Or, more specifically, in the universes. The man was Caulifa's older brother and Cabba's mentor, which meant he belonged in Universe 6.

He also looked nearly exactly how he had in the show. The problem with that came from the fact that Renso had first appeared more than a decade in the future, but it looked as if the man hadn't aged at all. While his appearance could be explained by how Saiyans' physical bodies aged slowly, Gray didn't think it was that. The same situation had appeared with Kale, and hers couldn't be explained by slow aging as the woman was an adult even though she possibly wasn't even supposed to be born yet.

He's pretty tough.

He was stronger than Gray's current self, though he could easily surpass the man in power level by using all of his available points.

"Thanks," Gray replied simply. The two men were in the S-Class training facility, which looked far nicer than the essentially non-existent F-Class one he was used to.

Instead of an open canyon filled with rocks, there was a massive circular room. All around the edges were doorways that led into different smaller rooms, which were filled with various training equipment. Celia had told him in advance that they contained different types of technology and terrain to help with training. Gray hadn't checked them out yet, but he was excited to.

I doubt that they have a gravity training room, but I can at least hope, right?

Gray's lack of gravity training room was slightly alleviated by the [10,000 KG Weighted Clothing] - luckily, he was allowed to choose how the clothing looked when he bought it. He was in his typical Saiyan armor, but said armor now felt much, much, heavier. Gray could still handle the weight easily when just walking around, but if he was training seriously or fighting, the weight would definitely intensify it.

I wonder if I can make weighted clothing?

He hadn't had the chance to level up his magical skills yet, as he hadn't had a chance to use them besides a bit of testing on Yardrat, but he hoped [Clothes Materialization] could be used to make weighted training clothes.

"You can train in here whenever you want," Renso continued, the man leaning back in his chair as he waved around at the room lazily, "This class is a lot more independent than the other ones, so don't count on me to train you. You can train on your own here, or you can ask your fellow S-Class's to train with you. You'll also have access to any recruits in lower classes if you want them to train with you, but no one ever does that."

Gray's lips twitched upwards at his words. Even if the other S-Class recruits ended up being weak, as he hadn't actually seen one since Kale, he could at least intensify his training by training with Kale. He didn't know the girl all that well, but he had at least become friendly with her on Yardrat. His training could progress a lot more than usual Saiyans could alone, as he could grind up his skills, but it would be a lot more efficient to train by fighting someone else on his level, or at least close to it.

"To graduate through the class, you'll need to accumulate at least ten mission points," Renso continued, holding up a finger, "However long that takes you is up to you. You can request to take on a mission at any time and you'll be given a squad to accompany you. You'll get more or less points depending on the difficulty of the mission."

Just like Celia said.

"Of course, there's also a little twist," Renso hummed as he continued his explanation, smirking slightly, "If you're a competitive type of guy and want to graduate quickly, you can force one other S-Class member to join you on a mission at any time. You'll get double the points for completing it - as you'll get both yours and theirs - but only one of you will get the points. The mission will be more difficult, and you'll both have to agree on who gets the points when you return back here. If you can't agree, neither of you will get them."

Celia warned me about this too.

S-Class truly was made to showcase the best Saiyans Planet Vegeta had to offer. The meatheads were whittled out in the lower classes, so now you needed both smarts and power to survive.

It was easy for Gray to read between the lines of what 'agree' meant in this situation, even if Celia hadn't warned him ahead of time. If you had the power to bully another S-Class into taking a mission with you and giving you their points, then you deserved to graduate faster. It wasn't just to build strength through going on missions - it was to build dominance over your fellow Saiyans.

This class is the top of the academy, so it makes sense.

S-Class wasn't just building powerful Saiyans - it was building leaders.

"About that squad that'll be sent with me on the missions," Gray spoke up, causing Renso to raise an eyebrow at him, "I want to choose them."

"No, recruits don't get to choose their squads," Renso shook his head, but Gray spoke again before he could say anymore.

"My bad, I thought you'd understand what I'm saying since you're an instructor for this high of a class," Gray hummed, smirking as he took a step forward, staring down at the sitting man, "But, I guess being an instructor doesn't mean you're smart, right?"

A tension filled the room at Gray's words, and the casual atmosphere vanished. Renso tensed, his eye twitching at Gray's words.

"What did you just-" Renso's face twisted in annoyance as Gray purposefully aggravated him, the man standing up with hard eyes.

"I'll rephrase: I will be choosing my squad," Gray grinned as he enunciated every syllable, as if he was talking to a toddler. He stepped forward again so his chest was pushing against Renso's - though they weren't completely level, as Gray was a fair bit taller than the instructor.

Gray had decided this was the best course of action after further discussing S-Class with Celia. The class was rather lawless, as recruits would train on their own and didn't even need to interact with the instructor outside of requesting missions and reporting back from them. They didn't even need to interact with other recruits if they didn't want to. But that lawlessness could work to his advantage here.

I'm not letting them get sent on an S-Class mission with me.

Gray had no idea how dangerous the S-Class missions really were, but he knew he didn't want his friends going on them with him. Someone like Celia could probably hold her own with techniques and her intelligence, and even Saeko was savvy enough to be fine, but Gray unfortunately couldn't place his faith in any of Asia, Tamari, Raphtalia, or Ochaco to survive on their own. He'd be hard-pressed to protect them if the mission really was dangerous, and he didn't want them being put at risk even being a possibility.

So, he'd bully the instructor into putting a bunch of random A-Class recruits in his squad. They'd be more helpful in the mission overall, and Gray wouldn't be all that upset if a few of them died in the process.

"I just told you, kid," Renso growled, the man glared at Gray as their eyes locked, "Recruits can choose their squads. No exceptions."

Trust me, you'll make an exception.

"You still don't seem to get it," Renso's eyes widened as Gray used [Instant-Transmission] to appear behind the man in a literal instant, "You can choose the squad, but you'll be choosing whoever I tell you to, got it? If you don't…"

Renso spun around to a finger gun aiming point-blank into his face, "Frankly, I'm going to beat the shit out of you."

The tension in the room was thick, and Renso didn't answer immediately as he glared at Gray. Renso body tensed partially, the man looking like the might fight back. Gray looked at his pulled-up stat screen from the corner of his eyes, prepared to dump his points into his stats and really beat the hell out of the instructor.

Then, Renso relaxed and let out a light chuckle.

"I like how you roll, kid," He matched Gray's grin, taking a step back, "If this were a usual case, I wouldn't mind keeping out a few of your friends for you."

Gray opened his mouth again as Renso started to deny him again, but Renso shook his head and cut him off, "But I can't. Literally - I can't for you. Usually, I do pick the squads, but you're a special case."

A special case? What the hell is he…

"I've already been given the names of who will be in your squad for your first mission," Renso said bluntly, giving Gray a slightly apologetic look, "They weren't chosen by me, but by King Vegeta himself."

Gray stared at Renso blankly.

That fucker.
