Chapter 662 - 661. Wolverine, Slayer of Werewolves.

To be honest, ever since stepping into this eerie and shadow-drenched village, Polaris had felt an overwhelming sense of unease. A passing gust of wind raised goosebumps all over her skin.

In the few minutes following Emma through the darkened paths, Polaris had already imagined dozens of ways to eliminate her—many of which didn't even require silver bullets. Brutal, precise, and efficient takedowns ran through her mind.

But what caught both Polaris and Blink off guard… was that Emma didn't seem to have any intention of hurting them.

This werewolf—who fed on humans—wasn't trying to kill them. In fact, she was urging them to escape.

"Remember—don't take any shortcuts. Avoid the woods. Stick to the highway. If you see a truck, wave it down immediately. Don't even think about calling the police until you're out of danger."

Polaris blinked in surprise, then turned to share a glance with Blink. Both of them eased just slightly.

But unlike Polaris and Blink, Emma looked more and more anxious as she glanced between the two of them.

"What are you waiting for? Get moving!"

Polaris gave a slight shake of her head and offered a faint smile.

"Honestly? If you hadn't said any of that… I probably would've taken you out already."

"You—!"

Emma froze for a beat, her gaze sharpening.

"What do you mean by that?"

Instead of answering, Polaris asked her own question.

"You're a werewolf. And you're with your pack. You just let us go—aren't you worried they'll come after you?"

"It doesn't matter. I wasn't planning to stay here tonight anyway," Emma muttered, then gritted her teeth and added, "Those monsters? They're not my family."

"You're running too? What about your boyfriend? From what we saw, he seems pretty into you," Polaris said casually.

"That's just an act. If I didn't play along, my fate would've been far worse," Emma sighed, then suddenly snapped out of it as if remembering something. "There's no time for this. You need to leave—now. Or none of us will make it out of here."

"You're not coming with us?" Polaris asked.

"I…" Emma hesitated, turning toward the warehouse. Lights streamed through the cracks and windows—it sounded lively inside.

"There are two more people trapped in there. I need to find a way to get them out."

"They're demon hunters, aren't they?" Polaris said. She already had a good idea who was inside—Sam and Dean, the very people they'd come looking for.

"You're going to risk your life for them? Aren't you afraid they'll kill you?"

"I don't know. I don't care," Emma shook her head, voice heavy with pain. "Ever since I turned into this… thing, I haven't belonged anywhere. I can't live with the wolves, and I can't go back to being human. Maybe… maybe death is the only peace I'll ever know."

"Don't say that," Blink said softly, stepping forward. Her own memories stirred. She gently held Emma's arm. "If you want to live like a normal person again, you will. One day."

Emma stared at the two girls, feeling the warmth of Blink's touch on her arm.

And for the first time, it hit her.

The way they didn't panic when she revealed her true nature, the calm they showed even while surrounded by danger—these two girls were far from ordinary.

"…Who are you, really?"

"Us?" Polaris raised a brow, a smile curving on her lips.

"We're the ones here to fix what's gone wrong."

"…You're demon hunters?" Emma gasped. In all her years, she'd never seen demon hunters this young. She had never even heard of hunters operating solo at their age.

And yet, here they were.

After the initial shock passed, Emma quickly came to her senses and said seriously, "Do you even know how many werewolves are in this village? Including me, there are seventeen. And that's not even counting the ones still on their way here. Just the two of you—what exactly do you think you can do?"

"Don't underestimate us," Polaris replied with a wink that carried more weight than her words.

"Our combat power is a lot stronger than you think."

She added playfully, "And who told you there were only two of us?"

"You've got backup?" Emma's tone softened with relief.

In her mind, it wasn't strange at all for demon hunters to use young girls as bait. If anything, she figured the real squad must've already surrounded the entire village.

And honestly? It made sense. Jim's pack had stirred up a real mess this time.

You don't just go after the Hunter Twins and expect to live.

They were legends—feared across the entire Supernatural World. The Winchester Brothers.

Rumor had it they'd slain both Michael and Lucifer with their own hands. Gods, demons, even celestial beings gave them wide berth. That final battle back then had become mythic—Heaven and Hell alike had no choice but to acknowledge them.

Ever since, Sam and Dean Winchester had become names etched in the nightmares of every supernatural creature. Angels treated them with respect. Hell's own crossroads demons showed up like delivery men. Nothing like it had ever happened in hunter history.

Even Emma, who'd been forcibly turned into a werewolf, had heard of them. So the moment she realized Jim's pack had taken those two, her world had collapsed.

Now, seeing two female hunters right in front of her, Emma finally felt a bit of hope.

"Good. That's good. If you've got backup, go get them out of there. I know I'm a werewolf now, but I'm 100% on humanity's side."

"…Looks like you misunderstood something," Polaris said, amused.

"There is no backup. Because we are the backup you're talking about."

Emma blinked in confusion.

"But you're right about one thing," Polaris added, her smile fading into a more serious tone.

"It's time we get moving. If we wait any longer, we might miss our shot."

"W-what…?"

Before Emma could fully process what she'd just heard, a sudden explosion of howls and screams erupted from the warehouse.

All three of them turned toward the chaos, but while Emma looked stunned and alarmed, Polaris and Blink didn't even flinch.

"…It's started," Polaris muttered, sticking out her tongue with a helpless sigh.

"What's started?" Emma asked, eyes wide. Then it hit her. She turned sharply toward Polaris and Blink, alarm rising.

"Wait—wait a second! You've already launched the assault?! But how?! I didn't sense any unfamiliar scents in the village!"

"You didn't sense him?" Polaris crossed her arms and chuckled. "Didn't that guy walk right in front of you?"

"You mean—?!"

Emma froze like she'd just been struck by lightning, completely stunned and unable to respond.

To be honest, the moment she first saw James, she'd felt something… off. She hadn't sensed any werewolf aura from him—but he wasn't human either. There was something wild and primal in him, something other. Something that didn't belong to either world.

It was the first time Emma had encountered anything like him. But with Jim casually introducing James as his uncle, she'd just assumed he was some kind of werewolf hybrid—maybe a genetic anomaly or a mutated variant.

Now, judging by the reaction from Polaris and Blink, that assumption couldn't have been more wrong.

Whoever that man was, he definitely wasn't one of them. And if anything… he was standing with the demon hunters.

As Emma stood there, still in a daze, Polaris clapped her on the shoulder.

"Snap out of it. If we wait too long, there won't be any leftovers for us to clean up."

Just as Emma was about to respond, something caught her eye—and her words caught in her throat.

Blink extended her hand toward the air, and a glowing streak of violet light tore open the space in front of them. A jagged portal shimmered into existence, revealing the scene on the other side.

The inside of the warehouse.

The floor was already soaked in blood. Dozens of werewolves, their nails elongated into claws and mouths full of fangs, shrieked as they lunged at an old man standing alone.

But the old man didn't budge an inch.

With both fists clenched, three razor-sharp adamantium claws extended from between his knuckles, gleaming under the fluorescent light with a cold, metallic sheen.

Each swipe of his claws left deep gashes in the attacking werewolves—cutting through fur, flesh, and bone with terrifying ease. Their bones shattered like tofu beneath the ferocity of his strikes.

A few of the smarter werewolves tried to take him down from behind, raising stolen shotguns loaded with silver rounds—specifically crafted to kill their own kind. These were trophies they had scavenged after capturing the Winchesters.

One of the shells slammed into James' back at close range.

It should've turned him into red mist.

But instead, he just staggered forward slightly—then straightened up like it was nothing.

With a deep, guttural snarl, his muscles tensed—and the bullets pushed themselves out of his body, one by one, clinking to the floor like coins dropped from a vending machine.

"…Oh sh*t."

The werewolves were frozen in terror, all eyes locked on James, none of them noticing the portal quietly shimmering open in the corner of the warehouse.

On the other side of the portal, Emma's worldview completely collapsed.

She stared into the chaos with wide, disbelieving eyes and muttered to herself:"This… this isn't a dream, right? That's… that's Wolverine?!"
