Chapter 295 - Another Date
With the tripartite peace talks set to take place at Kuoh Academy, preparations demanded meticulous attention.
Hosting the leaders of the Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angels required flawless planning to minimize risks and prevent mishaps.
In the days following Mahiro's return, Kuoh Academy remained calm, with no major incidents disrupting the routine.
The only notable change was the emergence of a campus legend: whispers of a beautiful, short-haired blonde girl with striking red eyes.
Since his unsealing, Gasper had been nudged by Rias to confront his social anxieties through mandatory outdoor exercises.
"I hate the sun! Why can't it just disappear? I'm just a normal devil—why do I have to be out during the day?!" Gasper wailed, his voice echoing across the grassy area behind the old school building.
He sprinted frantically, his outfit fluttering as he vented his grievances to the group nearby.
"Quiet down! You're a dhampir, aren't you?"
"The sun's no problem for you!" Xenovia snapped, her enthusiasm unusually high.
Gripping Durandal in one hand, she swung it with vigor, chasing Gasper at a leisurely pace.
"Then stop waving Durandal at me!" Gasper yelped, glancing back in terror at the blade's aura, which seemed poised to annihilate him if he slowed down.
"It's your fault for using your Sacred Gear to escape," Xenovia retorted, her logic unshakable.
"Durandal's power keeps me immune to your ability."
"Xenovia, go get that evil boy!" Irina cheered from the sidelines, reveling in the chaos.
"I'm not evil!" Gasper protested, barely dodging another swing.
"Stop running and let me hit you!" Xenovia called out.
"Who'd be dumb enough to do that?!" Gasper shrieked.
"It's fine! Asia can heal you in no time," Xenovia said, her reasoning oddly cheerful.
"Gasper, here's a secret weapon for protection," Koneko tossed something toward him.
"Thanks, Koneko-chan!" Gasper gasped, catching it mid-stride without looking.
A moment later, an even louder scream tore through the air. Koneko's "gift" was a string of garlic.
A faint, mischievous smile flickered across Koneko's stoic face as Gasper flailed.
"Even Koneko-chan's bullying me!" Gasper sobbed.
No one offered sympathy.
His frail, adorable appearance only fueled their urge to tease him further.
"My, my, Gasper's fitting in splendidly," Akeno remarked, peering out from the window with a delighted smile.
"That boy's still so shy after all these days," Rias said, glancing at a cardboard box in the clubroom's corner—Gasper's frequent hiding spot.
She sighed, rubbing her temples.
"If he can overcome his fears, Gasper's potential could make him the strongest in my peerage," she added, her tone hopeful yet tinged with frustration.
"It'll just take time," Mahiro said.
Unlike Issei, he had no interest in meddling in Gasper's growth.
"More exposure to the outside world, and he'll adjust."
"Gasper's adapting faster than I expected, getting along with Xenovia and the others already," Rias nodded.
"Maybe I coddled him too much before. I should've pushed him to interact sooner."
In the past, Gasper's reclusiveness had deterred Rias from forcing him out, respecting his fears as his master.
A knock interrupted them.
"Come in," Rias called.
"Pardon the intrusion, Rias," Sona stepped into ORC alone.
"Sona, what's up?" Rias asked.
"I'm here for Mahiro," Sona looked too tone formal.
"I haven't properly thanked him for saving me last time. I'd like to invite him to my house for dinner tonight to express my gratitude."
Akeno stifled a chuckle, shooting Mahiro a knowing glance.
"You can ask Mahiro directly."
This aligned with the agreement between Serafall and Mahiro from days earlier.
"Mahiro, are you free tonight?" Sona asked, her formal tone softening slightly.
Mahiro nodded.
"I am."
"Then please come to my place at six," Sona said, a faint smile breaking through her usual reserve.
"I'll take my leave now."
With that, Sona exited the clubroom.
"Rias, what now?" Akeno said, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Is she making her move?"
"It's just dinner. Don't read into it," Rias said calmly, though she glanced at Mahiro.
"You free afterward?"
"Nothing planned," Mahiro replied, a bit puzzled.
Rias's smile turned playful.
She stepped closer, taking his hand.
A teleportation circle flared beneath them.
"Akeno, look after Gasper and the others. Mahiro and I are going on a date."
Before Akeno could respond, a crimson flash enveloped Rias and Mahiro, and they vanished.
Left alone in the clubroom, Akeno blinked, stunned.
"Am I the clown here?"
"Home?" Mahiro asked, surprised as he recognized his surroundings.
He'd expected Rias to whisk him somewhere exotic, not back to his place.
"Yep," Rias said, her eyes glinting with allure.
"Today, we're not going anywhere. Just a private date here."
She retrieved a small box of perfume and a bottle of pills from a cabinet, swallowing one pill before using the perfume.
A heady, intoxicating scent filled the room.
Mahiro felt his body temperature rise.
He instantly understood the perfume's purpose.
