Chapter Four
How could Dad say something so cruel just because he was angry?
Mr. Brown's chest ached with fury as he pointed to the door. "I'm not your father! Get out!!"
The roar stunned Regina Brown, her heart contracting harshly.
She had never seen Dad lose his temper at her before!
Though Dad wasn't as doting as Mom, he was usually kind and gentle.
But today, he felt like a complete stranger to her.
Mrs. Brown stormed forward and grabbed Mr. Brown, furious. "Are you insane? How can you say such things to our daughter? What do you mean she isn't your daughter? I carried her for ten months—are you doubting even me now?"
Mr. Brown shook his head in regret, walked to the side, and sat down. "It's come to this, I'm not afraid to tell you—she was never our child."
"What are you saying?"
Mrs. Brown froze for a moment. "Do you understand the nonsense you're spewing?"
"Every word I'm saying is true. Back then, during your difficult labor, the baby died as soon as she was born!"
