If she left at this moment, all she could do was watch helplessly as the company was taken over by Arthur Baker.
So how could she possibly leave now?
The company's troubles weighed on her like mountains pressing down on her shoulders. A single misstep, a moment of inattention, and she could fall into someone else's trap.
Whenever she was utterly exhausted, she couldn't help but think of him.
Think of his encouraging gaze, his strong and warm hands, and the reassuring safety of his shoulders and embrace.
Longing surged like waves, growing stronger and unstoppable.
But no matter how much she missed him, he wouldn't appear by her side.
So all she could do was learn to handle these things on her own.
Sofia Hamilton pulled herself together, pressed the phone's intercom button, and said, "Find the address of the deceased's family and send it to me."
She had to get to the bottom of this herself. The cause of this matter needed to be thoroughly investigated.
