Chapter 33 - Lightning Field – Part Two

Chapter Thirty-Three: Lightning Field – Part Two

{From the third-person perspective}

While Arthur and Mia were talking, those slitted blue eyes were watching them closely, tracking every gesture and movement with extreme precision, as if savoring that moment when everyone feels safe before it can strike. The air was charged with energy, and the storms around them grew stronger, but the owner of the eyes was unfazed, for he possessed the lightning element and had lived in this field for more than fifty years.

As time passed, he crept closer, taking slow steps so as not to be discovered, taking advantage of the storm's noise that concealed almost everything. It seemed as if everything around him was in a fragile balance, as there was nothing to arouse suspicion or draw attention.

But inside his heart, there was an overwhelming desire to attack. He possessed invincible power and had lived for many years in these storms that he had grown used to, while everyone else saw them as a threat. He had been training the lightning element within himself, knew how to control lightning, and harness its power. Lightning was an inseparable part of him, merging with him as if it were an extension of his body, and he could soon summon it to erupt at any moment.

As he advanced, his eyes were fixed on Arthur and Mia. He knew his chance would come soon, and that they had to be at their weakest for him to succeed in his plan. His steps quickened little by little as he watched in complete silence.

And as he got closer, his desire grew to feel the amount of power he would gain by devouring their bodies and blood. This was the opportunity to transform from a mere lightning lizard with dragon blood into a true dragon. And now he was just one step away, ready to seize that moment no one would expect.

He hadn't expected that his chance to transform into a noble dragon would come walking toward him, or rather, flying toward him in the sky.

Even though he was just a low-level lightning lizard with dragon blood, it seemed that he was destined to become a true dragon in this life, to dominate the heavens and the earth.

(From the first-person perspective. From the perspective of the red dragon Arthur)

Mia and I were at the heart of the storm, and each step pushed us to the very limits of our strength.

The atmosphere was tense, and everything in this field reacted to the destructive force of nature.

The rain pounded us like bullets, its drops heavy and fast, falling faster than the eye could follow. It felt as if the sky itself was venting its wrath upon us, and each drop left a cold trail on the skin, like shards of ice tearing through the air. I could hear the sound of the rain intensifying with the wind, like the whizzing of bullets coming from the sky.

The wind was raging around us, so powerful it nearly stole our breath away. It carried the screams of the storm, as if it breathed with the gusts, threatening us and pushing us back. The wind howled like a ferocious beast, slamming into our eyes with its speed, shattering small rocks before us. It forced us backward, making us fly against its current, as if trying to cast us out of this field.

As for the lightning, it slithered across the sky, white flashes scattering like shards, striking the earth every moment.

Each bolt lit up the sky as if exploding from within, shining with a blinding light before crashing to the ground in violent fury. The lightning moved quickly, each flash like a moment of torment, as though the sky itself were boiling with rage. The earth trembled with every strike, and the air pulsed with waves that sounded like electrical surges pulling everything toward their center.

At the heart of this dreadful scene, all these elements—rain, wind, lightning—were forming their destructive dance.

The storm was everywhere around us, as if it was surrounding us from all sides, taking everything in its path.

It wasn't easy to even breathe, and the air was saturated with electricity, passing through our bodies as if we were part of this cosmic struggle.

The earth itself was cracking under the storm's pressure, as if it were splitting open to reveal a massive vitality hidden within.

There was no place to escape, only a direct confrontation with these sky storms, the force that defies everything.

The storm completely dominated the place, forcing us to interact with it—either we break or endure in this deadly trial.

Even with our draconic heritage and significantly enhanced physical strength, we couldn't endure in this place for long, as the lightning struck like a sword.

Only three minutes passed before our physical resilience began to wane, and we started to feel the storm's impact on our bodies.

Each second was an unbearable challenge.

As the fourth minute began, we felt an unnatural pressure on our red scales.

The wind toyed with them, as if threatening to shatter them, and the lightning striking everywhere left a strong effect on our cells.

Then, as if the planet itself were consuming us, our red scales began to scatter into the air, as if unable to withstand this immense power.

The storms pressed upon us from all sides, and the thunderous sounds of lightning dulled our senses.

Each gust of wind pulled us toward the abyss.

At that moment, we began to feel our bones breaking under this infernal pressure. Our limbs trembled from the pain, and the heat from the lightning affected every muscle in our body. It wasn't just a fight against nature; it was a battle for survival. As if the storm itself was pushing us to the limits of our endurance, leaving behind wounds that could not be easily healed.

In the end, we could no longer continue. The power of the storm was greater than our ability to resist. Our bodies were collapsing, and the pain was indescribable. Just staying alive in this field felt like a miracle.

So we began to retreat from the center of the storm, heading toward the outer perimeter of the field.

In any case, this is our first day here, so there's no need to take risks.

We'll take things slowly—we need time to better understand the power of this place and its energies before we venture further.
